Zoom Video Launches Zoom Docs to Compete with Microsoft and Google in Document Creation Software

Zoom Video Communications, the popular videoconferencing platform, is taking steps to regain its market share and compete with rivals Microsoft and Google. The company has announced the launch of Zoom Docs, a new word processing application aimed at challenging Microsoft’s Word and Alphabet’s Google Docs in the document creation software market.

At the recent Zoomtopia user conference held in San Jose, Zoom unveiled Zoom Docs as part of its strategy to fight back against Microsoft Teams, which has been gaining traction in the business communications space. Zoom Docs is described as a flexible AI-powered workspace designed to address the challenges of hybrid work environments.

Zoom believes that the traditional approach to document creation and collaboration is no longer sufficient, and they aim to redefine the process by integrating meetings at the core. This move follows Zoom’s previous announcement to add email and calendaring software, features that are already offered by Microsoft Teams.

However, Zoom faces an uphill battle as Microsoft and Google currently dominate the productivity applications market. Despite this, Zoom is determined to expand its offerings and prove that meetings are the key to effective document creation and collaboration.

Zoom Docs is expected to be available to customers in 2024, although pricing details have not been disclosed at this time.

As Zoom continues to evolve its platform, it remains to be seen whether these new additions will help the company regain its momentum in the post-pandemic era. With competition intensifying, Zoom is betting on innovation and the power of meetings to stay relevant in the evolving landscape of remote work.
