Power Integrations and SnapMagic Revolutionize Electronics Design with PI Expert and Schematic Export

Power Integrations, a leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, has partnered with SnapMagic, a company focused on streamlining the electronics design process, to introduce a groundbreaking feature to PI Expert™, Power Integrations’ online design tool. The tool now includes schematic and netlist export capabilities, made possible by SnapMagic’s innovative schematic export technology.

Previously, PI Expert automatically generated a complete power supply schematic based on user specifications, but required manual transcription into a CAD package for simulations and physical layout. With the new export capability, the design can be seamlessly transferred, including symbols, footprints, 3D models, and electrical netlist, into popular PCB CAD tools such as Cadence OrCAD, Altium, Autodesk Eagle/Fusion360, and KiCad.

This collaboration between Power Integrations and SnapMagic aims to save time, reduce errors, and enhance version control and traceability. By eliminating the need for manual creation or downloading of symbols and the drawing of schematics, engineers can focus on innovation and accelerate the product development process.

Trevor Hiatt, Director of Channel Marketing at Power Integrations, highlighted the benefits of the new export feature, stating that it will save time, reduce errors, and optimize the schematic layout for readability. Natasha Baker, CEO and Founder at SnapMagic, emphasized the transformative impact of this collaboration, stating that they are not just saving engineers weeks but changing the game entirely.

Wayne Stambaugh, KiCad Project Leader at KiCad, expressed excitement about the native schematic export feature, recognizing its potential to accelerate the product development process and ensure design success for the KiCad community.

Power Integrations’ PI Expert Online is a web-based program that generates a power conversion solution based on designers’ power supply specifications. It provides all the necessary information, including a Transformer Construction Report, winding instructions, electrical and mechanical diagrams, BOMs, and board layout recommendations. No download or installation is required.

SnapMagic’s schematic export capability within PI Expert simplifies the design process, reduces manual errors, and provides engineers with completed schematics, including symbols and PCB footprints. Additionally, CAD models for select Power Integrations components can be downloaded from the SnapMagic Search website.

Power Integrations, a leading innovator in semiconductor technologies for high-voltage power conversion, continues to contribute to the clean-power ecosystem, enabling the generation of renewable energy and efficient power transmission and consumption.

SnapMagic, with its suite of tools and innovations, is redefining electronics design by enhancing productivity and reimagining how engineers work, create, and source components.
