Unity Announces Leadership Transition

Unity, the world’s leading platform for creating and growing real-time 3D (RT3D) content, has announced a change in leadership. John Riccitiello, the President, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman, and a member of the Board of Directors, will be retiring from his positions, effective immediately. James M. Whitehurst has been appointed as the Interim Chief Executive Officer, President, and a member of the Board. Roelof Botha, the Lead Independent Director of the Unity Board, has been appointed as Chairman.

Riccitiello’s tenure at Unity has been marked by significant growth and transformation. He joined the Unity Board in 2013 and took over as CEO in 2014, guiding the company through various challenges. Under his leadership, Unity transitioned from a perpetual license to a subscription model, expanded its game services, went public, and became a pioneer in the developer community. Botha expressed his gratitude for Riccitiello’s contributions and expressed excitement for Unity’s future.

Unity has also reaffirmed its previously announced third-quarter 2023 guidance. The company’s expectations for its financial results are subject to revision during the closing procedures and finalization of the consolidated financial statements. Unity will release its third-quarter 2023 financial results on November 9, 2023, followed by a webcast.
