TAAG Angola Airlines to Renew Fleet with Boeing 787 Dreamliners

TAAG Angola Airlines, in collaboration with Boeing, has announced an exciting addition to its fleet with an order for four state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner jets. This strategic move reflects TAAG Angola Airlines’ commitment to offering its customers a superior travel experience while embracing modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly aircraft.

Eduardo Fairen, the CEO of TAAG Angola Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm for working with the best manufacturers in the world to ensure the airline has the most suitable airplanes for each flight typology, particularly for intercontinental connections. Fairen stated, “The 787 option suits our intent for modern, size-wise, and efficient equipment, able to progressively replace our current widebody fleet, and provide our customers with an improved flight experience.”

The addition of the 787 Dreamliner to TAAG Angola Airlines’ fleet will not only enhance its existing operations but also enable the airline to open new routes and expand its international network. Anbessie Yitbarek, Boeing’s Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Africa, emphasized that the Dreamliner’s market-leading efficiency and passenger comfort will significantly contribute to TAAG Angola Airlines’ fleet modernization plans.

Currently, TAAG Angola Airlines operates a fleet consisting of five 777-300ER jets, three 777-200ERs, and seven 737-700s, serving 12 destinations across Africa, Europe, South America, and China. With Boeing’s Commercial Market Outlook for Africa projecting a need for 1,025 airplanes over the next two decades, this strategic partnership between TAAG Angola Airlines and Boeing is perfectly aligned with the continent’s growing aviation demands.

The 787 Dreamliner family has proven its worth since its revenue service began in 2011, launching over 370 new nonstop routes worldwide. Not only does the Dreamliner reduce fuel use and emissions by an impressive 25% compared to its predecessors, but it also offers passengers an unparalleled travel experience. With the largest windows of any jet, improved cabin humidity and pressurization, spacious overhead bins, soothing LED lighting, and turbulence-sensing technology for a smoother ride, the Dreamliner truly sets a new standard in passenger comfort.
