Raytheon Awarded $39 Million Contract by U.S. Air Force for Air Defense Command and Control Prototype

Raytheon, a business under RTX (NYSE:RTX), has been awarded a $39 million contract by the U.S. Air Force to develop and integrate the Battle Management Command and Control software into a prototype for air base air defense. This contract aims to enhance the defense capabilities of U.S. air bases worldwide against airborne threats.

Under this agreement, Raytheon will focus on developing a command-and-control foundation that can effectively counter complex attacks while reducing the manpower required to operate the system. The prototype will be designed to adapt to evolving technologies, allowing for seamless integration with the best sensors, effectors, and algorithms.

This contract builds upon Raytheon’s previous work in the field of Air Base Air Defense. In 2022, the company showcased an Air Base Air Defense solution in Andoya, Norway, in partnership with the Air Force Research Lab.
