TELUS Launches Canada’s Largest Bursary Fund to Support Students’ Educational Dreams

In a country where the cost of post-secondary education can be a significant barrier for many students, TELUS is stepping up to make a difference. With 75 per cent of students finding it challenging to afford higher education, the telecommunications giant is proud to announce the launch of the TELUS Student Bursary, Canada’s largest bursary fund. This initiative aims to support hundreds of students each year who are committed to making a positive impact in their communities.

Thanks to a generous $25 million endowment gift from TELUS, along with an additional $25 million commitment in fundraising from the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, the TELUS Student Bursary will provide much-needed financial assistance to youth between the ages of 17 and 29. This bursary is available to those who are accepted into, or attending, any undergraduate degree or diploma program at any Canadian college, university, or polytechnic institute.

The TELUS Student Bursary is a game-changer, enabling young individuals from all corners of the country to access higher education. Recognizing that education is a key driver of success and empowerment, TELUS is committed to ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial barriers.

The TELUS Friendly Future Foundation, a Canadian registered charity, firmly believes that all youth, regardless of their circumstances, deserve an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. By funding over 500 charities each year that provide education and health programs, many of which are enabled by technology, the foundation is already making a significant impact on the lives of more than 2 million youth across Canada.

In addition to supporting charities, the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation also provides educational bursaries to deserving students. With the launch of the TELUS Student Bursary, the foundation is taking its commitment to education to new heights. The TELUS Student Bursary launch event will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at TELUS Harbour in Toronto. This event will provide an opportunity for photo opportunities and interviews with key representatives from TELUS and the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation.
