In No Hard Feelings, Jennifer stars as Maddie a young woman with money problems.

She answers a Craigslist ad placed by the parents of a 19-year-old man who want to hire someone to date their son before he goes to college.

The actress, who can easily switch from drama to comedy, told George Stephanopoulos on Nightline, the premise was based on a real listing.

‘About four years ago, the director’s a good friend of mine… and we were getting dinner. He showed me the Craigslist ad and I just thought it was hilarious.

‘I, in no way thought I was going to be in the movie… there was no movie. We just laughed about it, then four years later he sent me the script.’

Jennifer, who welcome her son, Cy, in February 2022, with her husband, art dealer Cook Maroney, said she hadn’t planned on working so soon after giving birth.

The actress said when she read the script co-written by director Gene Stupnitsky, ‘It was just too funny. It was the funniest thing I had ever read.’

The versatile star is also a producer on No Hard Feelings, after forming her own production company, Excellent Cadaver, in 2018.

‘I don’t take on anything that I can’t personally read every draft of and give personal notes on,’ she said.

The actress’ 21-year-old co-star, Andrew Barth Feldman, told the Hey U Guys podcast Jennifer was, ‘the perfect person’ to star in the comedy.

‘It’s what we’ve always wanted to see her do, so it’s pretty amazing to be across the table from that performance.’

The Foul Play actor said there was a lot of improvisation on the set.

‘We could always say, kind of like, the worst and dirtiest thing on our mind… and sometimes it makes it into the movie and sometimes it doesn’t.’

‘We filmed like, an NC-17, like, we filmed an unacceptable movie that was then turned into… an R.’

When the film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Jennifer appeared on the red carpet wearing flip flops.

The star told Entertainment Tonight, the footwear choice was not meant to be a  statement of any sort.

‘I was not making a political statement, not that I wouldn’t,’ she admitted.

‘I had no idea until it like, came out, that there was a whole controversy with people wearing flats, or like, walking down the red carpet barefoot. I had no clue. My shoes were a size too big.’

No Hard Feelings is set to open in theaters Friday.
