Hyundai’s XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck Wins Mobility Green Award at GTF Connect Los Angeles

Hyundai’s XCIENT Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Truck has been honored with the GREEN AWARD in the Mobility category at GTF Connect Los Angeles, held in Hollywood, California. This recognition highlights the innovative technology and industry-leading position of the XCIENT Fuel Cell truck, which offers zero-emission transport solutions for a sustainable future.

Jim Park, Senior Vice President of Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Business at Hyundai Motor North America, expressed his gratitude for the award and emphasized Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. The XCIENT Fuel Cell’s exceptional fuel cell technology sets a benchmark for efficient and eco-friendly transportation, contributing to a cleaner and more efficient future.

Hyundai launched the XCIENT Fuel Cell truck as a groundbreaking innovation specifically designed for the commercial shipping sector. With its emissions-free profile, the XCIENT Fuel Cell presents a sustainable mobility solution that addresses global transportation needs while mitigating carbon emissions. The truck’s durability and fuel efficiency align perfectly with the demands of commercial fleet operators.

Since its launch in 2020, the XCIENT Fuel Cell has been successfully deployed in five countries, including Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Korea, and New Zealand. It is the only heavy-duty fuel cell electric model with a proven track record of real-world application and technological reliability.

In May 2023, Hyundai introduced the commercialization model of the XCIENT Fuel Cell tractor in the United States. Equipped with two 90-kW hydrogen fuel cell systems and a 350-kW e-motor, the tractor boasts a gross combination weight of up to 82,000 lbs. It offers short refueling times and a driving range of over 450 miles per charge, even when fully loaded.

The XCIENT Fuel Cell incorporates the world-leading hydrogen fuel cell system developed by HTWO, Hyundai Motor Group’s hydrogen business brand. HTWO’s business includes the application of Hyundai’s proprietary fuel cell systems for various forms of mobility, including advanced air mobility, automobiles, vessels, trains, and stationary power generation.

The GREEN AWARDS, an integral part of the GTF Connect Los Angeles festival, recognizes innovative projects, companies, and individuals across categories such as Mobility and Energy. The winners are selected by a distinguished 55-member jury, with the entire process supported by GTF’s Knowledge Partner, Boston Consulting Group.

Hyundai’s XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck’s victory at the GTF Connect Los Angeles further solidifies the company’s commitment to sustainable transportation and its dedication to forging a cleaner, more efficient future for all.
