General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Awarded $218 Million to Expand Artillery Production

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS), a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a significant task order worth $218 million for the production of 155mm M1128 Load, Assemble, and Pack (LAP) artillery rounds. This task order is part of a larger multiyear firm-fixed-price contract valued at $974 million, which was awarded to OTS and another company by the U.S. Army.

Under this contract, OTS will be responsible for the facilitization and production of M1128 LAP at its operations in Camden, Arkansas. This follows a similar contract awarded to OTS in February 2023 for the facilitization of M795 LAP, which aimed to produce 20,000 rounds per month. Together, these two contracts will support the capacity to produce an impressive 50,000 rounds per month of new LAP artillery by 2025.

The funds from this contract will be utilized to install a state-of-the-art LAP facility, incorporating modernized processes and air-cooling technology. These advancements will not only enhance the quality and efficiency of the 155mm artillery LAP process but also promote environmentally responsible methods to reduce hazardous waste.

Kevin Fahey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, expressed pride in the company’s expanding role as a key industrial partner for the U.S. Army. He emphasized their commitment to supporting the Army’s efforts to increase and accelerate U.S. artillery production.
