Frankie and Benny’s and Chiquito lead the way in high-street restaurant closures
Nearly 20 high street restaurants including Frankie and Benny’s and Chiquito are set to close tomorrow
Frankie and Benny’s and Chiquito restaurants will be among nearly 20 high street venues set to close tomorrow.
The eateries are set to run their usual hours on Saturday before being permanently closed.
Twelve Frankie and Benny’s, four Chiquitos and one Firejacks will be among those shutting up shop this weekend.
The closures come after it was revealed that The Restaurant Group (TRG), which owns Wagamama, Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito, would close up to 35 sites over the next two years.

The company has roughly 400 outlets in the UK which employ around 18,000 staff.
Shares in TRG previously fell to less than a third of their pre-pandemic value as the business was hit by the impact of Covid-19.
Its pre-tax losses also jumped from £35.2million in 2021 to £86.8million in 2022.
A Restaurant Group spokesperson told the Mirror: ‘We announced a review of our leisure estate in March and made the difficult decision to exit some of our Frankie and Benny’s and Chiquito sites.
‘We are working closely with our impacted teams and will look to redeploy colleagues to neighbouring sites across our wider estate wherever possible.’
