Ciena Announces Promotions to Executive Leadership Team to Drive Growth and Innovation

Ciena Corporation, a leading networking systems, services, and software company, has announced the promotion of Dino DiPerna and Brodie Gage to its Executive Leadership Team. These appointments are part of Ciena’s strategic efforts to support its continued growth and market leadership in optical technologies, IP/Optical convergence, and next-generation metro and edge applications.

Dino DiPerna will assume the role of Senior Vice President of Global Research & Development (R&D). With his extensive experience in engineering and product development, DiPerna will be responsible for directing the development of Ciena’s portfolio of Converged Packet Optical, Network Control and Planning, and Routing and Switching products and solutions. DiPerna has been with Ciena since 2010 and has played a key role in the success of the company’s optical product portfolio.

Brodie Gage, who has also been with Ciena since 2010, will become the Senior Vice President of Global Products and Supply Chain. In his new role, Gage will oversee critical functions such as Product Line Management, Global Supply Chain, and Solutions, Engineering, and Introduction (SE&I). Gage’s extensive leadership experience in engineering, marketing, business development, and product line management will be instrumental in driving Ciena’s growth and innovation.

Scott McFeely, who has served in operational leadership roles at Nortel and Ciena for 38 years, will transition to an advisory role on Ciena’s Executive Leadership Team. McFeely’s wealth of industry knowledge and relationships will continue to contribute to the company’s success.

Ciena’s President and CEO, Gary Smith, expressed confidence in the new appointments, highlighting their deep industry knowledge and strong insights. Smith also acknowledged Scott McFeely’s contributions and welcomed his continued involvement in operational initiatives and investor relations.

The promotions of Dino DiPerna and Brodie Gage will be effective from October 27, 2023.
