Walgreens Boots Alliance Appoints Tim Wentworth as Chief Executive Officer

Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. (NASDAQ:WBA) has announced the appointment of Tim Wentworth as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 23. Wentworth, who brings nearly three decades of healthcare leadership experience, will also join the WBA Board of Directors.

Wentworth’s most recent role was as the founding CEO of Evernorth, Cigna’s health services organization. During his tenure, he successfully brought together various health service capabilities, including care provision, pharmacy solutions, and benefits management. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Express Scripts, the largest pharmacy benefit manager in the United States, where he grew the company into a Fortune 22 company with over $100 billion in revenue and 26,000 employees.

With his extensive experience in the payer and pharmacy space, as well as supply chain, IT, and Human Resources, Wentworth is well-positioned to lead WBA into its next phase of growth. The company aims to be the independent partner of choice, not just in pharmacy but also in healthcare services, with a focus on improving healthcare, lowering costs, and helping patients.
