TRX Gold Corporation Mourns the Passing of Founder and Chairman James E. Sinclair
TRX Gold Corporation, a leading gold exploration and production company, is deeply saddened to announce the passing of its founder and Chairman, James E. Sinclair. James, who passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in his home in Connecticut, was a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in the success of TRX Gold and the Buckreef Gold Project.
James founded TRX Gold in 2000 and served as Chairman and Director until his passing. He firmly believed in the gold-rich landscape of Tanzania and the potential of the Buckreef Gold Project. His unwavering dedication, combined with his trust in the region’s people and the Tanzanian government’s support for foreign investors, laid the foundation for unlocking the project’s potential.
Stephen Mullowney, CEO of TRX Gold, expressed his condolences on behalf of the company and its Board of Directors. He described James as a positive and forward-looking individual who was excited about the company’s trajectory. James was known for his tenacity, challenging everyone around him to strive for excellence. Mullowney assured that TRX Gold would continue to build on James’s substantial legacy and current successes.
Outside of TRX Gold, James was widely recognized as “Mr. Gold” for his strong belief in the value of gold and its ability to generate and preserve wealth. He accurately predicted the rise in gold prices from $150 to $900 per troy ounce between 1977 and 1980. James had a successful career as a precious metals specialist, market maker, and commodities and foreign currency trader. He was also the original founder and explorer of the Bulyanhulu mine, one of Tanzania’s most productive gold mines.
James’s memory lives on through the more than 500 employees and contractors of TRX Gold and Buckreef Gold, as well as the countless individuals he touched through his work worldwide. His contributions to the industry and his commitment to Tanzania’s gold sector will always be remembered.
TRX Gold Corporation is focused on advancing the Buckreef Gold Project, which currently hosts significant gold resources. The company aims to increase gold production, generate positive cash flow, and expand its resource base through exploratory drilling. TRX Gold upholds the highest environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, as evidenced by its longstanding presence in the Geita Region, Tanzania.
