The Barclaycard presents Isle of Wight Festival is taking place at Seaclose Park, located in the Newport area of the Isle of Wight.

The traditional curtain-raiser of the UK festival season, the Isle of Wight Festival’s origins go back to 1968, when it gained a reputation for being Europe’s version of Woodstock.

The first festival, held at Hells Field near Godshill, saw around 10,000 revellers attend.

Saturday’s action on the Main Stage will see the likes of George Ezra, The Chemical Brothers, N-Dubz, Anne-Marie, Sam Ryder, Gabrielle and Scouting For Girls.

Although there was no Isle of Wight Festival for more than 30 years post-1970, it was relaunched in 2002 by music promoter John Giddings.

In 2023, the festival kicked off on Thursday and will finish up on Sunday.

Groove Armada were the first artist to headline the Main Stage on the Thursday of the event, with LF System, Oh My God It’s The Church and Lottery Winners providing support on the opening day.

On Sunday June 18, the final day of the Isle of Wight festival in 2023, there will be headline performances from Robbie Williams, Blondie, Niall Horan, James Bay, Mika and Ella Henderson.

A host of other artists will feature across four days, including Sabrina Carpenter, The Human League, Example, Manic Street Preachers, Flo, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Enemy, The Reytons and Gang of Youths.

The original Sugababes reunited at the end of last year, much to the delight of fans.

The trio originally formed in 1998, but went through numerous line-up changes over the years with all three original members eventually being replaced.

Siobhan left in 2001 and was replaced by Heidi Range. She left the band suddenly in 2001 after branding bandmate Kesha a ‘bully’.

Siobhan revealed in May she suffered from crippling anxiety, including stage fright, and later revealed she had been diagnosed with clinical depression.

With things more settled now, Siobhan also credited the ‘more relaxed the dynamic is between the three of us’, with helping her stage fright.

Mutya left in 2005 and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah and Keisha was replaced by Jade Ewan when she departed in 2009. The replacement members stopped making music in 2011.

Since their reunion, the girls have performed at many big events including  the TikTok Women’s Six Nations finale between England and France in April.
