Terence Crawford opens the door to a rematch with Errol Spence Jr at 154lbs after dominating his rival to become undisputed welterweight champion

Terence Crawford is open to a rematch with Errol Spence Jr at 154lbs after dominating his rival to claim the undisputed welterweight crown.

Crawford dismantled Spence over nine one-sided rounds in Las Vegas, flooring the Texas fighter three times before the referee stepped in.

Spence said he intends to activate his rematch clause but, following his first professional defeat, the 33-year-old wants to fight Crawford at super welterweight.

The unbeaten victor is willing to join Spence at 154lbs, claiming after Saturday’s fight: ‘It definitely doesn’t have to be at 147.

‘I’m in the hurt business, 147lbs was hard for me too. I was already talking about moving up… 154 wouldn’t be out of the reach of anything.’

Crawford believes this dominant victory cements his place as the greatest fighter in the world and puts him among the greatest of all time.

‘I’m up there,’ he said. I always want to pay homage to the fighters that came before me… it isn’t my job to put me where I want to be, it’s your job to put me where I belong.’

On whether he was now boxing’s pound-for-pound king, he said: ‘Without a doubt… I get to say I told you so.

‘Because I’ve been asking for these fights for years… and each and every time I step up, I prove you wrong.’

Crawford added: ‘For all of you who said I was too small, I was actually too strong… it’s the Terence Crawford era!’

Spence refused to make any excuses after the fight, conceding that he was beaten by the better man. ‘He capitalised on a couple of things, his timing was better than mine tonight,’ Spence said.

‘I thought I could do enough to win the fight. I know I’m a lot better than I showed tonight. There was a lot that was off for me.’
