Simmons Bank Opens New Branch at Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Headquarters

Simmons Bank, in collaboration with the Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis, recently celebrated the grand opening of a new full-service branch located on the first floor of the Urban League’s headquarters in St. Louis. The branch, spanning approximately 2,600 square feet, offers a comprehensive range of banking products and services to cater to the evolving financial needs of individuals and businesses in the community.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the culmination of a successful partnership between Simmons Bank and the Urban League. Construction on the branch commenced in early 2022 and was completed in 2023. With convenient features such as a drive-thru banking lane and an ATM with deposit capabilities, the branch aims to provide accessible financial resources to empower individuals and foster economic opportunity in the community.

Tom Lally, Missouri Metro Division President for Simmons Bank, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “Simmons Bank is proud to partner with the Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis to provide access to financial resources which we believe will empower individuals and create economic opportunity in our community.” Lally further emphasized the importance of the redevelopment project in the area, believing that the new branch will act as a catalyst for additional investment and transformation along the Kingshighway corridor.

Simmons Bank has been a steadfast supporter of the Urban League since 2019 when they made a $10,000 donation to support programming at ULSTL. In 2020, Simmons Bank provided financing for the ULSTL’s headquarters building purchase. Following this, Simmons Bank approached the Urban League about adding a branch at this location. As part of the recent ceremony, Simmons Bank presented the ULSTL with a generous $50,000 donation in conjunction with their Restoring Hope Capital Campaign.

Michael P. McMillian, President and CEO of The Urban League Metropolitan St. Louis, expressed gratitude for Simmons Bank’s ongoing partnership, stating, “Simmons Bank has been a strong partner of the Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis, and the new branch located at our headquarters will provide much-needed access to important financial services to the members of our community.” McMillian highlighted that through this collaboration, Simmons Bank is actively supporting the Urban League’s mission of providing economic stability and social equality for African Americans and others throughout St. Louis.

The new branch was designed and built by minority-owned businesses, Grice Group Architects and KWAME Building Group. Both firms have a proven track record of successful collaborations with the Urban League, having previously worked on projects such as the Centene Ferguson Training Facility and the Community Empowerment Center of Ferguson. Simmons Bank provided financing for these projects as well and currently has an ATM located in the Community Empowerment Center.

Simmons Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Simmons First National Corporation, operates 231 branches across Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. With a client-centric approach, Simmons Bank offers comprehensive financial solutions to meet the diverse needs of its customers. The bank has been recognized by Forbes as one of “America’s Best Midsize Employers” and among the “World’s Best Banks” for multiple consecutive years, further solidifying its commitment to excellence.

The opening of the new Simmons Bank branch at the Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis headquarters represents a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to provide economic empowerment and social equality in the community. This collaboration showcases the positive impact that can be achieved when businesses and organizations come together to support the well-being and prosperity of the local community.
