Scottie Scheffler’s caddie has already earned an eye-watering amount… and could make

Scottie Scheffler’s caddie could have already pocketed an eye-watering amount for the PGA Tour season – and could be set for yet another windfall. 

Ted Scott has been on the bag for Scheffler for almost two years, including a phenomenal season for the American this year. 

The World No. 1 has two wins to his name this year, coming at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and the Players Championship.

Those two victories alone earned him a staggering amount, with both now part of the PGA Tour’s designated events. The elevated Phoenix Open had a purse of $20 million, while the Players offered a massive $25 million meaning Scheffler took home $3.6m and $4.5m respectively. 

In addition to his victories, Scheffler has also racked up an impressive 16 top-10 finishes, including at three of the four major championships.

Scheffler won the Waste Management Phoenix Open and the Players Championship this year 

His outstanding success has not only seen him knock back Rory McIlroy and Masters champion Jon Rahm for World No. 1 crowning glory but has also seen him bank an incredible $21 million.

But as every golfer knows, the credit doesn’t solely go to the player. Every pro is aided by a caddie and Scheffler and Scott have formed a formidable partnership, and the latter is seemingly worth every penny. 

It is customary for players to pay their caddies 10 percent of all their earnings, which means, if Scheffler follows tradition, Scott has also benefitted from his success, earning $2.1million for his role on the bag. 

But it might not be capped off there with the TOUR Championship yet to come. 

Scheffler heads to East Lake this week atop the FedEx Cup standings, meaning he’ll start with a two-shot advantage over Viktor Hovland, who pipped the American to win the BMW Championship at the weekend. 

Heading into the staggered event with an advantage, Scheffler has the chance to add another $18m to his seasonal earnings. 

He suffered heartbreak as he was hunted down by Rory McIlroy, who started a massive six strokes behind Scheffler – a feat he will be hoping Hovland cannot repeat. 

Scott is a 24-year veteran on the PGA Tour, having previously caddied for former Masters champion Bubba Watson. 

He reportedly initially needed some convincing before agreeing to caddie for Scheffler.

‘Teddy and Scottie talked for quite awhile before they went to work for him,’ fellow caddie and friend Paul Tesori said, via Golf Digest. 

‘Scottie’s young and has had a bit of a habit of getting a little angry on the golf course, and maybe even a little angry toward his caddie.

‘Ted being a veteran, almost 50 years old, being out here for so long, he was able to say: “I want to come work for you, but you have got to promise me that you’re going to work on these areas.” And not only did Scottie say yes, he has absolutely done it.’

And, Scott surely won’t be regretting that decision now.
