MGM Resorts Takes Swift Action to Address Cybersecurity Issue

MGM Resorts International, a global entertainment company renowned for its hotels and casinos, recently disclosed a cybersecurity issue affecting certain systems. The company promptly took action to protect its systems and data, including shutting down certain systems and launching an investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity experts and law enforcement.

On or around September 29, 2023, MGM Resorts discovered that an unauthorized third party had gained access to personal information belonging to some of its customers. The compromised data included names, contact information, gender, date of birth, and driver’s license numbers. For a limited number of customers, Social Security numbers and/or passport numbers were also affected. However, the company assures customers that passwords, bank account numbers, and payment card information were not compromised.

MGM Resorts takes the security of its systems and data very seriously and has implemented additional safeguards to further protect its systems. The company is notifying affected customers by email, as required by law, and is offering credit monitoring and identity protection services at no cost to them. Customers who receive an email from MGM Resorts regarding this issue should refer to the email for further instructions on enrolling in these services.

To address any concerns or questions, MGM Resorts has set up a dedicated call center, available toll-free Monday through Friday, and a webpage with additional information. The company is committed to providing support and assistance to affected customers throughout this process.
