Matilda Alanna Kennedy trolls Sam Kerr by saying she’s submissive to her glamorous football star girlfriend Kristie Mewis in cheeky video

  • Kerr and Mewis have been an item for two years
  • Announced romance after Tokyo Olympics
  • Kennedy decided to stitch up her teammate

As if missing the Matildas‘ opening two matches of the FIFA Women’s World Cup wasn’tt hard enough for Aussie star Sam Kerr, now she has copped some friendly fire from her own teammate.

Kerr sat out the matches against Republic of Ireland and Nigeria in the group stage of the showpiece event being hosted in Australia and New Zealand with a calf injury.

However, the pain of missing out on captaining her country hasn’t stopped her superstar teammate Alanna Kennedy from engaging in some cheeky banter on the team bus.

Kennedy, who plays for Manchester City in the English FA Women’s Super League, filmed Chelsea star Kerr between matches in Australia recently.

Unbeknownst to Kerr, her Matildas teammate was also sledging her about her love for partner and American World Cup star Kristie Mewis.

Kerr has enjoyed a two-year romance with former rival Kristie Mewis who played for the Team USA football side that beat the Matildas at the Tokyo Olympics.

Rumours swirled about the couple following that result when they were seen embracing each other on the pitch despite being on opposing sides.

The couple eventually confirmed they were an item and routinely share loved-up images on their social media accounts, including Mewis recently sharing a cheeky tattoo that reads ‘baby’ on her inner thigh for her Matildas love.

The flow of PDAs and couple photos evidently inspired Kennedy, who used her phone to take the footage of Kerr.

She added a ‘What era are you in?’ caption above Kerr’s head as the oblivious striker stared at the camera.

The app then reeled through a range of different options including the ‘forever alone era’, ‘main character era’ and ‘good girl era’ before settling on ‘simp era’.

Urban Dictionary defines a simp as ‘someone who does way too much for a person they like’, adding that they are ‘overly submissive [so] that other [people] cringe and feel ashamed when seeing them’.

Doubling down on the sledge, Kennedy then tagged Mewis in the post.

Kennedy posted the footage of a bemused Kerr with the overlaid words 'simp era' referring to her constant posts about girlfriend Mewis

Fans were very quick to pick up on how unimpressed Kerr was with the troll.

‘Sam smiles like kids do for their school photos,’ one posted.

‘Help Sam does not look happy doing this,’ posted another.

‘Alanna you are a legend for this,’ added another.

While Kerr and Mewis have not commented on the post, their loved-up messages on social media are likely to continue.

A FaceTime selfie between Kerr and Mewis was shared onto Instagram just hours before the Matildas kicked off the World Cup last week.

Kerr is hopeful of returning from injury for the Matildas in their final group stage match against Canada, which they must win to progress to the knockout stage of the tournament.
