Kyocera Collaborates on Innovative School Safety Solution

Kyocera, a global leader in rugged devices, has partnered with three technology developers to create an innovative solution aimed at improving safety in schools, government buildings, and other public spaces. The school safety solution combines Kyocera’s ultra-rugged mobile technology, Omni-Response 360° telemetry technology platform, ZeroEyes AI gun detection, and Cradlepoint networks.

The solution’s mobile hardware includes Kyocera’s ultra-rugged 5G smartphones and DuraSlate rugged Wi-Fi tablets. These devices are integrated with the Omni-Response Dashboard, which provides live emergency activities and situational awareness. During a recent demonstration in Tomball, Texas, Kyocera DuraSlate tablets were strategically placed throughout a campus to capture live video, while smartphones worn by safety officers provided real-time alerts in case of a threat.

Omni-Response’s 360° technology revolutionizes high-risk event response by leveraging AI for instant gunshot detection, GPS-enabled mapping of shooter location, one-touch alerts to staff and first responders, door lock/unlock capabilities, and live video streams from various sources. This comprehensive solution simplifies emergency protocols, accelerates threat interventions, and reduces chaos and casualties.

ZeroEyes, founded by military veterans, enhances the platform by integrating AI-based weapons detection. Its technology identifies firearms and other threats within seconds from security cameras and digital images. The intelligent detection feeds critical visual data into the Omni-Response platform, providing a complete view of any active threat scenario. ZeroEyes’ solution has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a promising anti-terrorism technology.

Cradlepoint, a global leader in wireless network edge solutions, provides reliable and secure networks through its cloud-delivered LTE and 5G wireless technology. This enables a private network for up-to-the-minute data, allowing safety officers to make informed decisions.

Kyocera’s total solution combines the expertise of various developers, accessories, and vertical-specific services to meet the unique challenges of each use case. With a track record of working with first responders, Kyocera’s rugged smartphones are already used as body-worn cameras by police departments. The company is dedicated to finding additional ways mobile technology can enhance public safety in schools, government buildings, and other public facilities.

The collaboration between Kyocera, Omni-Response, ZeroEyes, and Cradlepoint showcases the importance of innovative solutions in improving safety. By leveraging advanced technology, these companies aim to protect schools, government buildings, and public spaces, ensuring the safety of individuals within these environments.
