Kai Havertz’s announcement video and first Arsenal interview are ‘LEAKED’ – just hours after he was pictured in the club’s shirt – as he closes in on £65m move to the Gunners

  • Germany’s Kai Havertz is closing in on a £65m switch from Chelsea to Arsenal
  • The 24-year-old playmaker was pictured in an Arsenal shirt earlier this week
  • His announcement video and first Arsenal interview have now been leaked

Kai Havertz‘s £65m move to Arsenal appears to edging closer after his announcement video and first interview with the club were leaked online.

The Chelsea star has been negotiating a switch to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks, and was pictured in an Arsenal shirt on Tuesday to give the clearest indication yet that the deal is set to go through.

A short announcement video has now been leaked on social media, with Havertz posing for the cameras wearing the red and white shirt of the Gunners.

The back of the shirt shows the No 29, with the German international set to continue wearing the same number that he had at Chelsea for three years.

A longer interview with Havertz has also made its way online, as he is seen speaking about his excitement at moving to the north London club.

Havertz tells Arsenal’s media team: ‘It’s super exciting for me personally. I’m so glad to join this amazing club, this club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of big things.

He also explained his reasoning for taking the No 29 once more, revealing that he always selected it when playing video games with his brother, and describing it as the ‘perfect number’.

Havertz’s imminent departure from Chelsea to join Arsenal means he will be playing in the Champions League next season, and the 24-year-old hailed the competition as a ‘special tournament’ after winning it with the Blues in 2021.

That was the highlight of his time at Stamford Bridge, as he netted the winner in the final against Manchester City to give Chelsea their first Champions League triumph in nine years.

That came at the end of an indifferent first season in England, and Chelsea fans hoped it would kickstart his Premier League career, but the attacking midfielder struggled to live up to expectations during his three-year stay in west London.

He is set to leave the club having played 139 times across all competitions, scoring 32 goals, with just nine of those coming last term as Chelsea finished down in 12th place.

Mikel Arteta clearly has faith in Havertz, though, and has pushed to sign him as Arsenal look to challenge for the title again next season.

He seems to have got his man, with an official announcement expected in the coming hours.
