The first trailer for Disney’s new Haunted Mansion movie was shared on Tuesday.
Haunted Mansion is inspired by Disneyland’s famous theme park ride of the same name, and is the second edition after its 2003 original, which featured Eddie Murphy and Wallace Shawn.
The stars are LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Dan Levy and Tiffany Haddish.
Dawson plays single mom Gabbie who moves into a stunning New Orleans mansion. She is joined by her nine-year-old son played by Chase Dillon.
But then they soon realize that the massive home is filled with spooky ghosts so they call in a team of experts to help them get rid of the zany spirits.
‘These ghosts definitely don’t want to leave,’ it is said by one cast member as another adds, ‘There are so many bad people in the world, why don’t you haunt them?’

The ghosts cause all kinds of havoc in the old home, just like in the famed Disneyland ride. The team of experts that help her get rid of the spirits are quite the motley crew.
There is a paranormal expert (played by Stanfield), a psychic (Haddish), a priest (Wilson) and a historian (DeVito) for assistance.
In the poster they are seen carefully walking up a flight of stairs in the large home as someone carries a lit lantern.
The online synopsis reads: ‘A priest, a professor and a paranormal investigator try to help a woman and her family after they unwittingly move into a haunted mansion in New Orleans.’
And the clever tag line is, ‘Home is where the haunt is,’ a play on ‘Home is where the heart is.’
Haunted Mansion will premiere in theaters on July 28, 2023.
Justin Simien directs the comedy with a script by Katie Dippold.
Simien previously revealed at the D23 exhibit that he used to work at the Walt Disney theme park. And he would ride the Haunted Mansion on breaks.

She made the film too: Jamie Lee Curtis is seen as the scary woman with big hair inside the crystal ball. She takes on the role of psychic medium Madame Leota
He shared: ‘For me, there was something about that ride I felt was there in the script.
‘It was funny and full of interesting characters, but with a dark edge to it. I just related to it. It felt I knew how to make it,’ he said.
‘I love New Orleans and I felt I had a responsibility here to make sure all the little Easter eggs are there,’ continued Simeon, according to Deadline.
Actress Jamie appeared on stage with director Simeon during the Disney event.
She was seen arriving in one of the famous ‘Doom Buggy’ from the ride.

Meanwhile, a lot of fuss has been made about Curtis’ character.
She takes on the role of psychic medium Madame Leota.
Hollywood legend Jamie shared the news last year as she simply captioned the Instagram post with the emoji for a crystal ball, appearing to confirm the casting.
Production got underway in Atlanta and New Orleans in 2021, and the latter city hints at the original attraction which is set in New Orleans Square.
While Jamie’s character requires her to look into a crystal ball, the ‘Freaky Friday’ star recently revealed she avoids looking in the mirror.
The movie star checks her reflection when she’s carrying out tasks that require her to do so, but she doesn’t spend a lot of time scrutinizing her appearance because she doesn’t want to be critical of herself.
She said in 2022: ‘When I brush my teeth, of course, I look in the mirror. When I pluck my eyebrows, of course, I look in a mirror. But when I get out of a shower, I just don’t stare at my body in the mirror. I’m not denying what I look like, of course I’ve seen what I look like. I am trying to live in acceptance. If I look in the mirror, it’s harder for me to be in acceptance. I’m more critical. Whereas, if I just don’t look, I’m not so worried about it.;
