Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste Reports Positive Passenger Traffic Growth in Mexico and Puerto Rico

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, a leading international airport group, has announced positive passenger traffic growth in Mexico and Puerto Rico for the month of September 2023. Despite challenges faced in Colombia, the company reported an overall increase in passenger numbers.

In Mexico, passenger traffic increased by 2.7% compared to the same period last year. This growth was primarily driven by a 9.0% increase in domestic traffic, which offset a 4.8% decline in international traffic. Cancun Airport, a popular tourist destination, played a significant role in this growth.

Puerto Rico also experienced a substantial increase in passenger traffic, with a growth rate of 24.1%. Domestic traffic in Puerto Rico saw a significant increase of 22.0%, while international passengers grew by 46.4%. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, played a crucial role in facilitating this growth.

However, passenger traffic in Colombia declined by 13.7% due to the suspension of operations of two local airlines since the beginning of 2023. Despite this setback, the company remains optimistic about the future recovery of the Colombian market.

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste continues to focus on operating, maintaining, and developing airports in the Americas. With a portfolio of concessions that includes airports in Mexico, the U.S., and Colombia, the company remains committed to providing excellent service and contributing to the growth of the aviation industry.
