The bookies have had their say on who will win Eurovision 2023 – with Sweden backed to win the competition.

The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the UK for the first time in 25 years, as Liverpool hosts the highly anticipated annual event.

The semi-finals took place on May 9 and Thursday May 11 ahead of the grand finale on Saturday May 13.

But who is the bookies favourite to win the iconic song contest this year?

Who is favourite to win Eurovision 2023?

Sweden is taking the lead with Loreen’s Tattoo, which has odds listed as 8/13 on bet365.

The singer, who returned to the stage after winning the 2012 contest, is set to face tight competition from Finland this year.

Finland, who will be represented by Käärijä with the song Cha Cha Cha, sit in second spot at 9/4.

Ukraine is following up with an 8/1, France is at 8/1 and Spain is at 20/1 – rounding out the top five.

The Czech Republic has been well-backed recently, and with a Top 10 finish at 66/1.

Mae Muller, who will represent the UK, now finds herself with a 33/1 chance of winning in Liverpool.

The singer, 25, will perform in the grand final with her track I Wrote A Song, which features tongue-in-cheek lyrics about a cheating ex-boyfriend and a propulsive dance beat.

Who won Eurovision 2022?

While the UK might be hosting Eurovision this year, the 2022 contest was actually won by Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra, with their track Stefania.

It was Ukraine’s third Eurovision win, having previously taken top honours in 2004 and 2016.

Due to the ongoing war with Russia, Ukraine are unable to host the 2023 contest – with the honour falling instead to the UK, who finished second last year.

Sam Ryder, who placed second with his song Space Man, previously said that hosting the contest in the UK on Ukraine’s behalf was ‘bittersweet’.

The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be available to watch and stream across a variety of different platforms.

You can catch the action on BBC One, as well as via BBC iPlayer and Eurovision’s official YouTube channel, which will stream proceedings.

The first semi-final on 9 May will see Rita Ora, Rebecca Ferguson and Ukrainian singer Alyosha perform.

The second semi-final will take place on Thursday, 11 May, 2023, with performances from Mariya Yaremchuk, who was Ukraine’s pick at Eurovision in 2014, rapper OTOY and 14-year-old Ukrainian Junior Eurovision representative Zlata Dziunka.

The final of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be held on Saturday, 13 May, 2023, and feature performances from the Big Five countries (Spain, Germany, Italy, France and the UK).
