Elon Musk did NOT vote in midterms despite urging followers to vote Republican

Elon Musk did not vote in the 2022 midterm elections even though he urged his millions of Twitter followers to vote Republican

State voting records indicate the Twitter CEO abstained during the midterms in Cameron County, Texas where he is registered to vote.

Musk, who claimed earlier this year he voted Republican for the first time in his life, urged his Twitter followers to do the same.

His November tweet came after he said in June he had voted for Flores, the first female Mexican-born American to serve in the House of Representatives, and the first Republican Musk had ever cast his ballot in support of.

‘I voted for Mayra Flores,’ Musk said in May. ‘First time I ever voted Republican. Massive red wave in 2022.’

That support apparently waivered, as Musk abstained from voting in the most recent election. Flores, along with a slew of other Republicans in the border state, lost to Democratic opponents.

Voting records and a statement obtained by the Daily Beast found that the Chief Twit did not participate in the election, even after telling his 120 million followers to vote.

Despite not voting, the Twitter CEO urged followers to do up until Election Day.

‘Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic,’ Musk tweeted on November 7.

‘In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican,’ Musk tweeted in May.

The county election administrator where Musk is registered, however, told the Beast ‘based on our records, we do not have any indication that Mr. Musk participated in the November 2022 Election in Cameron County.’

The statement from the county’s election administrator comes months after Musk proudly stated he had voted for Flores in the special election in Texas’ 34th Congressional District.

Flores won the bid earlier this year but later lost her re-election campaign to Democrat Vincente Gonzalez in November.

The representative had been accused by many on the left of spreading QAnon conspiracy theories on social media. She later said she did not support QAnon after she had already deleted some of her comments indicating her support.

Musk is registered in Cameron County, where SpaceX is based.

An official who spoke with the Daily Beast said Musk could not have voted in another county because it would have triggered the cancelation of his Cameron County registration.

Despite urging his followers to vote Republican and supporting Flores, the billionaire has insisted on multiple occasions that he is a centrist.

Musk specifically has said he supports ‘the left half of the Republican Party and the right half of the Democratic Party.’

‘Given unprovoked attacks by leading Democrats against me & a very cold shoulder to Tesla & SpaceX, I intend to vote Republican in November,’ he later said.

Musk’s predication of a ‘red wave’ in May did not, however, come to fruition, as Republicans narrowly took back the House of Representatives last month.

The ‘centrist’ claims by Tesla founder also come as he has repeatedly engaged in far-right conspiracy theories on the app he purchased earlier this year.

In October, Musk tweeted a link to a conspiracy about the violent attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband, before later deleting it.

Over the weekend, Musk also took aim at America’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, in a series of tweets, including one where he called for the doctor to be charged for his response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Musk joked in one tweet that his ‘pronouns are prosecute/Fauci.’

'I don't respond to him. I don't pay any attention to him because that's merely a distraction. And if you get drawn into that, and I have to be honest, that cesspool of interaction, it's ¿ there's no value added to that,' Fauci said

Another tweet posted by Musk showed the doctor’s face photoshopped into a meme, whispering ‘just one more lockdown, my king,’ to U.S. President Joe Biden.

Musk said: ‘Fauci lied to Congress and funded gain-of-function research that killed millions of people. Not awesome. imo.’

Fauci, when asked about the attacks from the Tesla and Twitter leader, said he simply tries to avoid and ignore Musk and others on the social media app.
