While viewers of the show were already feeling emotional after her heartfelt funeral, but hearts were broken by Lola’s poignant message.

Watching the video back, Jay breaks down in tears as he see’s the video that Lola made for him on the day of the Coronation, as she discusses her feelings for him.

On the clip, Lexi is heard saying: ‘Jay is the king to your Queen, you married him, but how do you know?’

‘Because Jay is brilliant, when he smiles it makes me smile,’ Lola answered.

‘He does gift the best hugs and he makes me feel safe and when things get harder, Jay will be there and he will love you all the more because the world is a better place with Jay in it.

‘When I’m not here anymore and Jay is done being sad, he is going to live life to the fullest, alright? And you’re going to do all of the things that mummy didn’t get a chance to do.

‘But it won’t matter because he will always have a little piece of me inside his heart.’

Jay is left heartbroken as he struggles to imagine a world without his beloved Lola while Forever Young played in the background.

Fans of the soap shared their thoughts to Twitter, with one writing: ‘I was fine until that damn video, then it got me crying, especially with that song as well.’

The residents of Albert Square gathered to say their final goodbyes to the beloved mum of Lexi and wife of Jay on Tuesday.

In June 2022, it was revealed that Danielle would be leaving EastEnders with her character being written out in the tragic storyline.

At the time, a source claimed that Danielle had been left ‘in pieces’ at the news, which has left her no option to return due to the tragic ending.

An insider at the TV show told The Sun at the time: ‘She was not expecting the chop because her character has been a firm favourite with viewers. She’ll be written out with no option to return.’

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
