Duke Energy Power Plant Employees Give Back to Surrounding Communities with Over $60,000 in Grants to Area Nonprofits

Power plant employees at Cayuga Station, Edwardsport Station, and Gibson Station in Plainfield, Indiana, are making a positive impact on their communities by awarding $60,000 in Duke Energy Foundation grants to eight charitable organizations. This initiative reflects the employees’ commitment to giving back and supporting causes that make a difference in the lives of those they serve.

Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana, expressed pride in the employees’ genuine care and compassion for their neighbors. He highlighted the diverse range of causes that the employees chose to support, including building safe and affordable homes for families in need and aiding children entering foster care. The selection process involved nominations from employees, which were then reviewed by a committee of plant management and employees to determine the recipients of the Foundation funds.

Duke Energy employees have a long-standing tradition of supporting their communities not only through financial contributions but also by dedicating their time as volunteers. Last year alone, Duke Energy Indiana employees and retirees donated nearly $360,000 to charitable organizations and volunteered nearly 11,900 hours.

Jeremy Price, technical and maintenance manager at Cayuga Station, emphasized the importance of giving back to the communities they are a part of. The chosen nonprofit organizations have a history of supporting the employees and the surrounding communities, making these grants an opportunity to drive lasting change and benefit their neighbors.

The Duke Energy Foundation, funded by Duke Energy shareholders, provides philanthropic support to meet the needs of communities where Duke Energy customers live and work. In Indiana, the Foundation contributes over $2 million annually in charitable gifts.
