This is the disgusting moment a plane passenger sitting behind a woman puts his ‘smelly and dirty’ feet on her arm rest during a flight.

Pornpreeya Keng, 27, boarded a low-cost Vietnam Airlines flight from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport for a trip to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

But as she settled in her seat to enjoy the view out of the window, an offensive odour suddenly irritated her nose. When she looked down, she saw the source of the repulsive smell. A man’s bare foot was poking through the gap and propped up on her armrest.

Footage from onboard the Airbus A320 shows a visibly disturbed Keng recording the scene while sitting next to the man’s hot sweaty feet.

She can be seen muttering to herself and covering her nose and mouth while glancing over at the unwashed feet before using a nasal spray to block out the smell.

Keng said the inconsiderate passenger kept moving around to find a better sleeping position, causing the smell to intensify and make her dizzy.

She said: ‘I tried to shift in my seat to make him aware of my discomfort, but he didn’t notice me. I felt uncomfortable, but I did not want to confront him directly, so I took a video of his poor manners.’

Keng later called the attention of an air hostess, who instructed the man to take off his feet on her behalf.

She then disinfected her armrest with some wet wipes and used a menthol nasal inhaler to clear her sinuses of the stomach-turning feet odour.

Speaking of the nightmare flight, which took place on Saturday, she said: ‘Everyone should educate themselves on proper flight etiquette. If anyone experiences what I did, inform the flight attendant and ask for help.’

Plane passengers in the early days of aviation would never have experienced such a problem as many airlines had strict dress codes, meaning that shoes had to stay firmly on.

In the 1950s, Pan American World Airways, known as Pan Am, ordered male passengers to wear suits and ties, while women were expected to wear skirts and blouses. Shorts, jeans, and T-shirts were not considered appropriate attire for a plane and hair was also required to be neat and tidy.

Dress codes gradually began to loosen over the years, and in the 21st century it is not unusual to find backpackers dressed in shorts and vests on planes – sometimes putting their bare feet up on the seats.
