David Beckham wishes ‘mate’ James Corden a 45th happy birthday with a reminder of their throwback Miami Vice skit from the Late Late Show

David Beckham wished close friend James Corden a happy birthday on Tuesday by recalling their famous Miami Vice inspired skit on The Late Late Show.

Corden celebrated his 45th birthday on August 22, and Beckham was quick to remind him of their nod to the iconic 1980s crime drama in 2020, shortly before the former footballer’s Inter Miami franchise kicked its first ball in Major League Soccer

Dressed in ill-fitting white suits and blonde wigs, the unlikely pair attempted to emulate James “Sonny” Crockett – the character made famous by actor Don Johnson – while celebrating Beckham’s foray into club ownership.

Taking to Instagram with a snap of himself and Corden dressed in character and standing alongside the vintage sports car they drive in the skit, he wrote: ‘Happy birthday mate.’

The original segment featured in a 2020 episode of The Late Late Show, during which Beckham appeared as a special guest.

In another skit from the same installment, Corden plays fitness instructor as he puts the former footballer through his paces during a spin class.

The presenter – who left The Late Late Show earlier this year – teases Beckham by playing Spice Girls hit Wannabe, which features vocals by wife Victoria Beckham, while encouraging them to sway their heads, tap double time and ‘close their eyes.’

Beckham’s post comes after Corden was given a telling off for parking his Lime bike right in front of Mayfair restaurant on Monday.

The comedian has just returned to the UK after finishing his Late Late Show in Los Angeles and was out and about in the capital.

But after riding around the streets of central London he tried to leave his bike outside a pub but the doorman wasn’t having any of it.

Corden arrived at his destination before mounting the pavement and cheekily leaning the bike against the door.

It didn’t take long for the doorman to notice, who then removed the bike and told the presenter he couldn’t just leave it there.

After his bike was placed against a lamp post, Corden took it from the doorman and cycled off to place it elsewhere.

Corden’s LA mansion was recently sold to the daughter of a Hong Kong private equity billionaire for $17.1 million, it has been revealed – $5million less than what he wanted amid his move back to the UK.

The presenter is handing over the keys to LeeAnn Akouri-Shan, daughter of Weijian Shan, 69.

He first listed his home back in the fall at $22 million, a whopping $12 million more than he purchased it for in 2017 from ‘Modern Family’ co-creator Steve Levitan.

Corden later lowered the asking price to $18 million and quickly caught the attention of Akouri-Shan, who put in an all-cash offer, according to The Real Deal.

The 8,600-square-foot property is located in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood and has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and sits on nearly a half-acre lot.

After purchasing the property from Levitan, Corden and wife Julia – who is an interior designer – made significant renovations.

The redo was lengthy and reportedly incredibly pricey for the pair who are now expected to move back to their native United Kingdom after Corden ended his run hosting the CBS late-night show.

The couple have been married since 2012 and share three children together.
