American Water Earns 2023 WaterSense® Excellence Award from U.S. EPA

American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., has been honored with the prestigious 2023 WaterSense® Excellence Award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA). This recognition highlights American Water’s commitment to promoting water efficiency and its partnership with WaterSense.

Cheryl Norton, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of American Water, expressed pride in receiving the award and emphasized the company’s dedication to educating customers about water efficiency. American Water, along with its subsidiaries, was acknowledged for its efforts in promoting WaterSense and water efficiency throughout 2022.

WaterSense is a voluntary partnership program sponsored by the U.S. EPA that encourages the use of water-efficient products, programs, and homes. Over 2,100 organizations, including manufacturers, builders, retailers, utilities, and nonprofit organizations, collaborate with WaterSense to promote water conservation.

Veronica Blette, Chief of the WaterSense Branch, emphasized the importance of saving water, especially in the face of extreme weather conditions affecting water supplies and quality. The 2023 WaterSense® Excellence in Education and Outreach award was presented to American Water during a ceremony at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas, Nevada.
