AirLife Completes Acquisition of Avanos Medical’s Respiratory Health Business

AirLife, formerly known as SunMed, has successfully finalized its acquisition of Avanos Medical’s respiratory health business, which includes the BALLARD*, MICROCUFF*, and endOclear® product lines. This strategic move strengthens AirLife’s position as a leading manufacturer and distributor of consumable medical devices for anesthesia and respiratory care in North America.

By adding three well-established brands and their research and development expertise, AirLife aims to expand its portfolio and become a one-stop source for high-quality consumable breathing solutions. The acquisition aligns with AirLife’s commitment to providing the most trusted products in anesthesia and respiratory care, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Hank Struik, CEO of AirLife, expressed his enthusiasm for this significant milestone, stating, “We’re thrilled to complete this exciting milestone in AirLife’s evolution as we strengthen our leadership as a premier, completely dedicated consumable breathing products company.” He also extended a warm welcome to the exceptional team behind these market-leading brands, recognizing their contributions to the success of Avanos’ respiratory health business.

The addition of Avanos’ closed suction and endotracheal consumables, widely used in critical care settings, opens up new growth opportunities for AirLife. This acquisition will enable the company to serve more healthcare practitioners, drive innovation, and accelerate its overall expansion.

AirLife’s legal counsel for this transaction is Goodwin Procter LLP, a renowned law firm known for its expertise in mergers and acquisitions.
