Advanced Drainage Systems Donates $500,000 of Stormwater Products for Hilliard Recreation and Wellness Campus

The City of Hilliard in Ohio has received a generous donation of stormwater management products worth $500,000 from Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS) for the new Hilliard Recreation and Wellness Campus. The installation of the stormwater management system began this week, marking a significant step towards protecting the environment and enhancing the community’s quality of life.

The donated plastic pipes and chambers from ADS will play a crucial role in managing stormwater runoff beneath the 105,000-square-foot Recreation and Wellness Campus. This expansive complex will feature various facilities, including an aquatic center, indoor running track, gymnasium, fitness center, classrooms, and outdoor spaces. With 125 acres of land dedicated to the campus, there will also be ample room for outdoor recreational activities.

The stormwater management solutions provided by ADS will not only benefit the Hilliard community but also contribute to the protection of the Big Darby Creek watershed. Big Darby Creek is a national scenic river known for its rich biodiversity, making it one of the Midwest’s most diverse waterways. By effectively managing stormwater runoff, the donated ADS products will help safeguard the water quality of this important ecosystem.

Scott Barbour, President and CEO of ADS, expressed the company’s commitment to investing in communities and protecting water resources. He emphasized the significance of water as a precious resource and how ADS’s contribution would improve the quality of life for residents not only in Hilliard but also in cities nationwide.

Hilliard City Manager, Michelle Crandall, expressed gratitude for ADS’s corporate partnership and the substantial donation of stormwater management products. She highlighted the state-of-the-art stormwater management system’s role in preserving the water quality of the Big Darby Creek watershed. The Recreation and Wellness Campus will also serve as a regional stormwater management demonstration site, educating visitors and residents about the importance of water conservation and showcasing best management practices.

In addition to the donation, ADS is continuing the construction of its Engineering and Technology Center, which will be the most advanced stormwater engineering center globally. This facility, set to open in mid-2024, further demonstrates ADS’s commitment to developing innovative solutions for managing stormwater effectively.

The installation of the stormwater management system coincides with Ohio Stormwater Awareness Week, a dedicated initiative to educate people throughout Ohio about the impact of individual and community choices on waterways. ADS’s donation aligns with this educational effort and reinforces the company’s commitment to water management and environmental stewardship.

As ADS continues to make significant contributions to the Hilliard community, their recent donation of stormwater management products will undoubtedly have a lasting positive impact on the Recreation and Wellness Campus and the surrounding environment.
