Admiral Craig S. Faller Joins HII’s Board of Directors

HII, a global defense provider, has announced the election of Admiral Craig S. Faller (U.S. Navy, Ret.) to its board of directors. The appointment, effective October 3, 2023, brings a wealth of leadership experience and national security knowledge to the company.

Adm. Faller retired from the Navy in 2021 after an impressive 38-year career, during which he held various key positions. Notably, he served as commander of the U.S. Southern Command (SouthCom), where he successfully tackled complex security challenges, including transnational criminal organizations, the Venezuela crisis, the global pandemic, and the 2021 Haiti earthquake.

Kirk Donald, chairman of the board of HII, expressed pride in welcoming Adm. Faller to the company’s board. Donald highlighted Faller’s leadership skills, joint experience, and extensive knowledge of national security, which will undoubtedly contribute to growing the company’s value and strengthening its customer relationships.

Prior to his role at SouthCom, Adm. Faller served as senior military assistant to the secretary of defense, chief of legislative affairs for the Navy, and director of operations for the U.S. Central Command. He also commanded two cruisers and led an aircraft carrier strike group as a nuclear-trained surface warfare officer.

In addition to his new role at HII, Adm. Faller serves on the board of trustees at CNA and the board of directors of Viken Detection. He is also involved with several advisory boards, including Sigma Defense Systems, PayCargo, Excelerate Energy, and Penn State Applied Research Laboratory. Furthermore, he holds positions as a Distinguished Fellow at the Atlantic Council and as a Senior Fellow at the National Defense University and Florida International University.

Adm. Faller’s impressive qualifications include graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in national security affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School.
