It&#8217;s that certain countries are full of surprises.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Drawing on her experience, the 25-year-old Californian, who has nearly half a million subscribers on her <a target=\"_blank\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/youtube\/index.html\" id=\"mol-dd5a4500-2de7-11ee-9a56-655927b457ce\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> channel <a target=\"_blank\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"class\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/lexielimitless\">Lexie Limitless<\/a>, created a video in which she lists the top five places that astonished her the most in her travels.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">She tells MailOnline Travel that some of the most surprising countries are \u2018off the beaten path destinations\u2019 and &#8216;are almost taboo to travel to because of what we hear about them on the news&#8217;. She recalls: \u2018The local driver swerved recklessly around loose gravel corners with heart-pounding 500-ft-plus drops off the side of the road.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Lexie says that the region&#8217;s Fairy Meadows mountain meadow, which lies near the\u00a08,126m (26,660ft) Nanga Parbat mountain, is \u2018one of the most peaceful, beautiful places\u2019 she has ever visited, adding: \u2018I would have never expected it to be in Pakistan.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Summing up the experience, she says: \u2018All in all, Pakistan turned out to be one of the most surprising adventures of my life. When I mention travelling to Turkmenistan, people give me this blank confused stare and then ask: &#8220;What is it &#8211; a place, a city, what?&#8221;\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The country&#8217;s capacity to surprise in part is down to its capital city, Ashgabat, which Lexie describes as &#8216;one of the strangest cities in the world&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">She notes that the \u2018entire capital is made out of gold and marble buildings\u2019 and it \u2018holds a few Guinness World Records for the most white marble buildings and the world&#8217;s largest indoor Ferris wheel\u2019. She says: &#8216;The very few locals I encountered while travelling throughout Turkmenistan were very excited to share their unique culture and cuisines with us.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The YouTuber adds that a must-visit while there is the Darvaza crater, also known as the \u2018Door to Hell\u2019 \u2013 a flaming natural gas pit in the middle of the desert.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">She describes the site as a \u2018beautiful addition to an otherwise mysterious landscape\u2019, adding: \u2018When planning ahead for this trip, I decided to bring an extremely long pole and marshmallows to roast over the open flames. Sunsets last for more than an hour and waterfalls pour out of every cliff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u2018Iceland is an ideal destination for travellers looking to immerse themselves in total isolation. Lexie reveals: &#8216;As I walked around this ancient masterpiece in the late afternoon, I was astonished that I was completely alone out there.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">She continues: \u2018Experiences like this reinforce the idea that going a bit deeper into a country will reward you exponentially along the way.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Generally, Lexie found that Egypt is home to \u2018the most well-preserved history in the world\u2019. She says that visiting sites such as the Abu Simbel temples and &#8216;getting to look into the faces of real mummies&#8217; in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is &#8216;like stepping through time and into the past&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">It wasn&#8217;t just the country&#8217;s wealth of history that amazed her, however. Lexie says: &#8216;I thought travelling in Egypt would be incredible because of the ancient monuments alone, but I was amazed by the vibrancy of its modern-day culture and the diversity of experiences you can have there like diving in the Red Sea.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"art-ins mol-factbox travel\" data-version=\"2\" id=\"mol-90a7b6e0-2ba6-11ee-9d5b-d545114f57ca\" data-permabox-url=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/travel\/article-12339035\/Im-record-breaking-traveller-whos-visited-country-world-five-places-surprised-including-one-Id-heard-scary-travel-through.html\">\n<h3 class=\"mol-factbox-title\">LEXIE ON BECOMING THE YOUNGEST PERSON TO TRAVEL TO ALL SOVEREIGN COUNTRIES\u00a0<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ins cleared mol-factbox-body\">\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Lexie tells MailOnline Travel: &#8216;Breaking a Guinness World Record was my least favourite part of this journey.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In order to prove she had beaten the record, she submitted nearly 7,000 pages of evidence &#8211; everything from plane tickets and passport stamps to taxi and accommodation receipts and photographs &#8211; in chronological order, she reveals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">She says: &#8216;I also had to have two witnesses from each country to fill out a statement verifying that I was there.&#8217; Lexie says that this part of the process was &#8216;way harder&#8217; than people imagine, as she required nearly 400 witness statements in total.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The YouTuber continues: &#8216;After all that mind-numbing paperwork, I\u2019m still grateful I had the opportunity to challenge myself and complete the goal I set out to do three years earlier.
