Llanddwvn is hands down the most romantic spot in Wales- here is why. Wales’ own version of Saint Valentines is Saint Dwynwen, Patron Saint of Lovers. According to legend, Dwynwen, was a 5th Century princess, who had fallen in love with a commoner, but her father had already promised her hand in marriage to another. Dwynwen prayed for her lover’s life to be spared and to be allowed to live unmarried. God granted her wishes and in gratitude she became a nun and her church on the island became a shrine. She lived a life as a recluse and continued to pray for lovers and together with a well on the island which was said to predict the destiny of lovers depending upon whether fish swam in its waters. 🅿️ Maes Parcio Ynys Llanddwyn, LL61 6SG * £2 for the first 2 hours (40p for every add’ 20 mins) £7 maximum charge per day 🥾Easy 1.8 mile walk from carpark.
