With the iPhone 15 dropping, it feels like technology is becoming outdated faster and faster – but that doesn’t always mean it loses value.

Earlier this week DailyMail.com revealed the 10 most sought-after cult classic VHS tapes, which are fetching thousands on eBay.

Now we’ve done a deep dive into other semi-vintage technologies up for auction, finding consumers can make a generous profit on products collecting dust in their attic – as long as they have the original packaging. 

These forgotten gadgets included a first-generation iPod that is going for $60,000 and a 1996 Tamagotchi fetching up to $3,500. 

Here are five gadgets from which you can make a small (or large) fortune if you’re willing to part ways:

First Generation iPod: $60,000 

Apple released the first iPod on October 23, 2001 – eight years before the first iPhone launched.

The device changed how people listened to music as they no longer had to carry many CDs to listen to their favorite tunes.

Instead, the iPod saved 1,000 songs that could be shuffled with a finger swipe.

A first-generation iPod still sealed in its box from 2001 was sold at auction early last month for $29,000 in a private sale. 

On eBay, some first-generation iPods are listed for around double that price, with the current highest being listed for $60,000 for a factory-sealed iPod Classic 1st Generation.

Tamagotchi: $3,500

These digital pets you had to remember to feed to keep alive came out in 1996 in Japan before coming to the US less than a year later. The egg-shaped device cost about $18 at the time.

After hatching a digital creature, users must take care of their virtual pet as it moves through the different stages of life.

Users have to feed it – either a ‘meal,’ consisting of a rice bowl or a candy ‘snack’ – and clean up after it goes to the bathroom.

If they fail to care for it correctly, the pet will get sick and even die.

Bandai, the creator, revived the lovable digital pet in 2018 for around $20, but the originals are being auctioned off for a high price. 

A set of two Tamagotchi keychains are being sold on eBay for $3,500.

The hand-held digital pets are making a comeback now with updated colorful graphics, the option to wear them around in a watch band, and the ability to connect with Tamagotchi users worldwide who are also in the ‘Tamaverse.’

Game Boy Pocket Limited Edition Ice Blue: $3,500 

Nintendo is undoubtedly one of the most popular game device makers ever, and its Game Boys line is listed on eBay for between $100 and $18,000. 

A limited-edition ice blue Game Boy Pocket, the first redesigned version of the Gameboy, which came out in 1996, is listed on eBay for $3,500, while a Kiwi-colored one is listed for almost $18,000.

The Ice Blue Nintendo Gameboy Pocket was released on September 3, 1996 for about $90.

Unlike the Gameboy, the pocket version was smaller and had a lighter form factor.

Nintendo 64 Pokemon Stadium Battle Set: $1,800 

A Pokemon-themed Nintendo 64 is being listed on eBay for $1,799.99. 

The Nintendo 64 came out in June 1996 in Japan and in September of that year in the US.

The one up for auction on eBay includes the game itself, two controllers, the transfer pack, and the original box.

The console lets users see their Pokémon battle in 3D and control the digital creature like a handheld main series game. 

Motorola Dynatac 8000x: $55,519

On April 3, 1973, Motorola employee Martin Cooper called in New York on a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X – widely regarded as the first public mobile phone call.

The device is also said to be the world’s first portable mobile phone, weighing 1.75 pounds.

DynaTAC was a series of Microsoft cell phones between 1983 and 1994. 

The DynaTAC 8000x was the line’s first model and offered 30 minutes of talk time. It was the first cell phone offered commercially.

One of these cell phones is listed for more than $55,000 on eBay, including the charging base and carrying bag. 

VHS tapes

You could be sitting on a treasure trove of valuable childhood movies.

Streaming has replaced trips to the video store, but VHS tapes are becoming a hot commodity among collectors.

Classics like Back to the Future and movies with a cult following like the original Fast and the Furious are fetching thousands on eBay.

But before you go sprinting to the garage or rummaging around the attic – proceed with care: the condition of these tapes is key to their sale price.

Sorry, that copy of ‘Aladdin’ you watched 50,000 times as a kid is a dud.

eBay says that around 250,000 VHS tapes are sold on the online selling platform every year. 

Additionally, it revealed more than three million dollars has been spent on VHS tapes by eBay buyers.

Former President Donald Trump it would be worth facing potential jail time in order to ‘Make America Great Again’ by winning the 2024 election – and also insisted that President Biden can no longer talk.

The former president, 77, sat down with Kelly for a SiriusXM interview aired on Thursday that saw him sharing insight into many of the issues he faces ahead of the 2024 election. 

Kelly said the former president’s indictments in four separate cases were ‘very scary’ for him due to ‘left-wing judges’ and ‘left-wing juries’ and asked him if he could see himself going to prison.

‘I have a great attitude, it doesn’t affect me at all because I’m fighting for the country, I’m fighting for the people,’ before talking about how good his poll numbers were and that ‘the people know it’s all fake.’

He ultimately said, however, it was worth facing both the indictments and jail time in order to ‘Make America Great Again,’ arguing that ‘our country’s going to hell.’ 

‘Our country’s going to hell. Our country’s going to down. The country, I believe, has one last chance, this is the most important election we’ve ever had.’ 

The former president also was melancholy about the notion he might never visit his many famous properties across the globe, citing his golf club in Scotland.

‘Would I like to be at Turnberry in Scotland right now or the many places I have… I may never see those places again. But I think this is very important. I think we’re gonna win the election.’ 

Trump was last indicted in Georgia for his alleged roles in trying to overturn the 2020 election, with prosecutors using statutes normally seen in mob trials and accusing the former president of being head of ‘a criminal organization’. 

He is facing three other criminal cases: one, on federal charges relating to election interference; another federal case related to the mishandling of classified documents, and one in New York federal court for alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniel. 

Trump then pivoted to President Biden, whom he said ‘can’t talk’ when asked by Kelly if he thinks Biden will go the distance to 2024.

‘I can’t imagine,’ Trump said. ‘I saw him yesterday, he can’t put two sentences together. It’s not an age thing, it’s a competence thing. He can’t talk!’

Trump also cited a Washington Post op-ed written Wednesday where David Ignatius wrote with a headline: ‘President Biden should not run again in 2024.’

‘He has to debate, I guess. I hope he’s gonna debate, I guess. The people want a smart president.’

Trump also noted he ‘doesn’t see’ himself debating any of his Republican Primary opponents, suggesting he didn’t want to debate someone he was ‘like 60 points ahead’ of.

Kelly even begged him to do one just before the Iowa caucuses, with Trump saying no.

Elsewhere in the interview, Trump said while he thinks Joe Biden is ‘grossly incompetent,’ he does not feel he is too old to be president.

With just three years separating the two 2024 frontrunners, many are concerned over the increasing age of presidential candidates – as well as other leaders in Congress.

Polling shows that more than three-fourths of Americans feel that Biden, 80, is too old to serve another four years in office.

But Trump, 77, told Megyn Kelly that age isn’t the issue.

‘I have many friends that are in their 80s. I have friends… that are in their 90s and they’re sharp as a tack. Just, I mean I would say, just about what they used to be. No, not old. He’s incompetent,’ Trump said of Biden.

If Biden was reelected he would break his own record for being the oldest-ever inaugurated U.S. president at 82 years old.

Trump is the second-oldest president following Biden. He was inaugurated at the age of 70. He beat former President Ronald Reagan by just about a year.

‘Age is interesting, because some people are very sharp and some people do lose it, but you lose it at 40 and 50 also,’ Trump told Kelly. ‘But no, he’s not too old at all. He’s grossly incompetent.

‘You look at some of the great world leaders, they were in their 80s and they did— I mean, Churchill, so many people. They were phenomenal in their 80s. You know, there’s a great wisdom if you’re not in a position like him, but if you go back 25 years, he wasn’t the sharpest tack either.

He also shared insight into both Melania and his youngest son Barron, 17.

‘I think part of the beauty is that mystery,’ Trump said when asked what people misunderstand about his wife of more than 20 years, before comparing her with Hollywood legend Greta Garbo.

‘She was a great actress, But she was very reclusive, never did an interview. I don’t see Melania as like that, but she’s introspective, and she’s confident… She doesn’t need to be out there [to get interviewed],’ he explained.

‘She has confidence. She has a lot of self confidence.’

Trump also gave an update on Barron, saying the teen is doing ‘really well’ and is a ‘very good athlete.’ 

‘Barron’s very tall – about six eight. And, and he’s a good kid. He’s a good looking kid. He’s a great student, very good student…we’re thinking about [college] right now,’ he added. 

It was a productive conversation for Trump and Kelly, who have a notoriously rocky history.

Trump claimed she had ‘blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever’ during the the August 2015 primary debate she moderated. 

But it seems the feud is now water under the bridge as Kelly released Thursday morning clips of her sit-down interview with Trump. 

Kelly had expressed her enthusiasm, assuring viewers that the interview would be nothing short of captivating. 

‘I’m really looking forward to this,’ she said in the video. ‘It’s going to be great, it’s going to be spicy, and it’s going to be tough, but it’s going to be good and hopefully, we’re both going to enjoy it.’

A globe-trotting mum has found a way to fit a week’s worth of clothes into a single carry-on rucksack – and she’s convinced her packing method will help travellers save ‘hundreds’ on ‘extortionate’ airline baggage fees.

Jenna Carr, who goes by the name ‘The Travel Mum’ on TikTok, shared a video online that shows her squeezing everything from holiday outfits to cosmetics and footwear into a small blue backpack ahead of a recent family getaway, saving her from paying for extra baggage.

‘Budget airlines allow you to bring a free “personal item” on board,’ the 33-year-old explains, adding: ‘Each passenger, including children, gets their own rucksack.’

The mum of one, from Worksop, Nottinghamshire, says: ‘Over time the hundreds of pounds you save on luggage really adds up. By making a few changes to how we travel as a family we’ve been able to travel so much more.’

The footage – which has garnered more than 31,000 views – shows Jenna gesturing to a small backpack and noting: ‘We’re going to use a vacuum bag to get double the amount of clothes in there.’

Jenna reveals she vacuums air from the plastic sealed bag once it’s placed inside the backpack, so it moulds to the shape of the rucksack.

In the clip, Jenna – who worked as an NHS doctor before leaving her medical career behind to become a full-time content creator – remarks that thanks to the vacuum packing trick, she still has ‘a lot more space’ to fit extra items into her backpack. 

Next, she explains how she wears her ‘bulkier’ shoes on the plane and wraps her smaller shoes – such as sandals – in cling film to keep everything else in her bag clean.

Jenna, who has 367,000 TikTok followers and counting, then reveals she puts underwear in a zip-seal freezer bag which can also be reduced in size using a vacuum. She uses the freezer bags as a ‘place to put used underwear’ during the trip, she reveals.

When one user wondered whether she finds her clothes get quite creased after they’ve been vacuum-packed, she replied: ‘It depends on the material, most things survive it pretty well.’

Her next tip? ‘Food bags are great for keeping things organised,’ Jenna says. She explains how she likes to put her jewellery and her non-liquid makeup – which doesn’t need to be removed from her bag at security – into plastic food bags to keep them separate.

Next, she demonstrates how she uses refillable travel perfume bottles to take her perfume with her on her trips. 

She says: ‘I only take liquids that would be too expensive to buy when I get there.’

Her final trick? She puts her laptop and liquids in WHSmith carrier bags, explaining: ‘When I’m boarding the plane, it just looks like I’ve been shopping.’

Plastic carrier bags from shops within the airport don’t count as carry-on luggage, Jenna explains.

The reaction from her followers was a positive one, with ‘user0957747756’ writing: ‘WHSmith bag is such a good tip!’

And user ‘Shouldaknownbetta’ declared that the hacks are ‘amazing’.

The besotted brother of Southern Charm star Taylor Ann Green had just introduced his new girlfriend to family when he died aged 36. 

Richard Worthington ‘Worth’ Green died aged 36 – the tragic news revealed on his sister Catie King’s Instagram alongside a picture of him beaming while sitting in a boat.

Caroline Evans, wrote a heartbreaking tribute to her ‘greatest love’ just three days after his death saying she’d love him forever.

‘Worth Green you are the greatest love I’ve ever known. Although you are not here physically, the love you gave is still felt every single day. I love you forever and always.’

The cause of the 36-year-old’s death remains unclear but its been revealed he’d set up a men’s religious group in Raleigh where Caroline was from prior to his passing.

Taylor Anne and family told DailyMail.com: ‘Worth left this world on top of the world – he had a beautiful passion for life and cared deeply for those around him.

‘We are going to miss his jovial personality and all of the love and laughter that he brought his family, girlfriend and countless friends. 

‘Heartbroken is an understatement, but we are finding so much peace knowing he is in the arms of our Heavenly Father. We kindly ask for privacy at this time.’

An obituary posted on a North Carolina funeral home‘s website revealed Worth had found love with a woman he’d introduced to his family.

‘Worth loved his family dearly. Any excuse to be with them, he truly loved with his whole heart,’ the obituary reads.

‘He was a vivacious and loving son and grandson, and the best big brother to his sisters, always being there as a protector and a cheerleader.’

Taylor Ann and Catie can be seen with their brother in numerous pictures across social media often boasting about their close relationship. 

The pictures span the decades, with Taylor Ann, Catie and their brother posed for photos as kids to when they’re adults – each sibling beaming as they hold one another close. 

The obituary mentions a woman names Caroline, who ‘brought so much joy to his life’ referring to a budding romance that the 36-year-old had been pursuing before his passing.

‘Most recently he met the woman he adored and treasured. Caroline brought so much joy to his life,’ it says. 

‘He loved her enough to bring her home to his family and was beginning to plan a future with her by his side.’

In a post to her Facebook page, Caroline asked friends and family to write tributes on a separate site: ‘For all who knew Worth Green, if there’s one thing you remember it’s probably his incredible stories. 

‘We hope to keep all of his memories and stories alive through the tribute link below.

‘If you have any stories, memories, or just thoughts to share on the impact Worth had, please upload a video using the link below.’

The obituary goes on to add: ‘Friends, too numerous to name, will miss the exuberant love for life that Worth brought to them.’ 

Just days after Worth died, Caroline wrote: ‘You are the greatest love I’ve ever known.’

‘Although you are not here physically, the love you gave is still felt every single day. I love you forever and always.’

Worth’s obituary also described him as an ‘adventurer’ with a ‘love of travel’ who taught English while living in South Korea post-college.

He was hailed a ‘protector and a cheerleader’ to his two younger sisters and ‘a beautiful example of how to live life as fully as possible.’

The obituary noted that the deceased ‘had recently started a small men’s group in Raleigh to reflect on life and challenge each other’s faith in Christ.’

In a comment on Catie’s Instagram post, Taylor Ann’s ex Shep Rose wrote that Worth was ‘Absolutely one of a kind. A pleasure to know and to laugh with.’

Worth’s heartbreaking death came at an already fraught time for his family, as Catie found herself fighting a recurrence of cancer last year.

In May 2022, Green wrote on Instagram: ‘Almost 5 years ago, my older sister was diagnosed with 2 different types of ovarian cancer; she was a damn warrior and kicked its a** after a few months of holistic treatment.’

Taylor Ann continued: ‘We were so excited for her and her husband to hopefully have the chance of starting a family, but here we are 4 and a half years later and it has decided to rear its ugly head again. Truly F you cancer.’

Catie announced in December that she had undergone ‘[h]opefully my last major surgery ever needed, an oophorectomy of my only ovary and tube I had left.’

She wrote wanly: ‘A part of us is gone and will never be what we dreamt of, but we trust God’s greater plan for our little family.’

The devastating news comes five months after another Southern Charm star, Olivia Flowers, lost her 32-year-old brother Conner.

Conner’s death was preceded by a years-long battle with Lyme disease, as well as a turbulent past including arrests for drug offenses and driving under the influence.

His exact cause of death has not been made public, but his sister wrote on Instagram last month that his Lyme disease left him battling ‘debilitating symptoms over the last 17 years.’

Olivia added that he was subjected to ‘several misdiagnoses and unnecessary medicinal treatment at a young age.’

She went on: ‘By the time he was properly tested and given a diagnosis from Dr. Jemsek, a God send, and an infectious disease specialist, the disease had caused severe internal damage, and the consequences from his earlier ‘treatment’ were just as long-lasting and devastating.’
