Sophie Turner stepped out with her daughter Willa in New York City on Thursday –  after accusing her ex Joe Jonas of ‘abducting’ their kids and blindsiding her with his divorce filing in explosive court documents.

The actress, 27, looked happy to be stepping out with her eldest daughter, three, amid her increasingly acrimonious split from the Jonas Brothers rocker, 34, after she claimed he lied in court documents and said a birthday row sparked the end of their marriage.

Sophie, who is suing her estranged husband so she can return with their children to the UK, wore a cropped black tee, baseball cap, joggers and sneakers as she doted on her daughter.

She sweetly held her daughter’s hand and chatted with pals as she strolled – as the divorce and child custody battle ramps up, 

Earlier in the day Sophie  tried to keep a low profile as she was spotted on Thursday for the first time since she sued her estranged husband Joe.

The Game Of Thrones star was pictured exiting the St. Regis Hotel in New York City while flanked by her friend, the Australian actress Olivia de Jonge.

She stuck to a low-key all-black ensemble and covered up with large black sunglasses while making her way out of the hotel, after her ex Joe publicly lashed out at her.

The sighting also comes after reports that Sophie joined her friend Taylor Swift for a night on the town on Tuesday, when the pair enjoyed ‘martinis and caviar bumps’ at the trendy celeb haunt Temple Bar.

A source told PEOPLE that it ‘cheered [Sophie] up’ and that she enjoyed the normalcy of it all.

‘They were normal. Completely normal. Everyone was all excited, but they were normal,’ an insider recalled, adding: ‘Sophie seemed to be enjoying the night.’

Another continued: ‘Taylor is a great friend — Sophie can talk to her about anything. It cheered Sophie up to spend time with Taylor.’

Joe accused his estranged wife of ‘lying’ in her filing and clarified that their ‘children were not abducted,’ after she petitioned to have them return to the UK.

Sophie continued her all-black theme with a black baseball cap that read ‘Aspen’ in white block letters. Her long blond hair was swept back and peaked out in messy waves rolling down her back.

She covered up with black Wayfarer-style sunglasses and added a splash of color to her otherwise-muted ensemble with a small purple, green and blue handbag with a thick gold chain that she carried tucked under her arm, and she also lightened up the look with white trainers.

Sophie filed documents in US District Court for New York to petition for ‘the return of children to England,’ her home country. 

Jonas had previously filed for divorce from the actress earlier this month. 

The couple, who married in 2019, share daughters Willa and D.J., one.

In documents seen by DailyMail.com, Turner made the claim that Jonas had refused to return the children’s passports, effectively preventing them from traveling back to the UK.

In the filing, she says the exes met on September 17 to discuss a previously planned trip to the UK with her children set for September 20, but Jonas allegedly would not turn over the passports or send the children to the UK on his own.

‘Based on the Father’s express statements that he will not return the children to England and will not return the children’s passports to the Mother, on September 20, 2023, the Mother has submitted her Hague Convention Application for Return to the Central Authority for England & Wales seeking the return of the children to England,’ the filing read. 

She added that the move to the UK was not unexpected, as the couple had allegedly planned to spend an extended amount of time there in the near future.

According to Turner, she and the children expected to accompany Jonas on his US tour with the Jonas Brothers, and then when it wrapped up the entire family had planned to travel to the UK and to live at a rented property near her parents’ home.

She claimed that the move was a prelude to a full-time life in the UK, and that the couple had agreed to move their children there as their oldest Willa prepared to begin attending school. 

The X-Men actress alleged that she and Jonas toured properties from December 2022 until July of this year, when they discovered a ‘beautiful country property’ in Oxfordshire and they ‘both agreed they would purchase the property for the family’s permanent home.’

They allegedly signed a contract for the property in July and planned to finalize the sale in December of this year. 

Last year, Turner and Jonas put their Miami mansion on the market after previously buying it for $11 million.

They sold the property in August at a profit for $15 million, only after they slashed the asking price by $2 million, suggesting they may have been trying to unload it quickly.

In her filing, Turner also disputed Jonas’ claim in his divorce filing that their children had resided in Florida for six months, which would make it easier for a court in that state to decide custody matters.

She appears to allege that a fight on August 15 was a major precipitating event for their separation, and afterward the couple had agreed ‘with some hesitation’ to have the children travel to the US to accompany their father on tour, as Jonas was able to care for them during the day on dates when he was scheduled to perform.

While Jonas was on tour with his brothers, Sophie was engaged filming the new series Joan in the UK, which would have significantly impacted her ability to care for the children during the limited period that she was on set.

Unlike Jonas’ tour, which would presumably allow him some free time when he wasn’t on stage or in rehearsals, Turner would likely have had little free time while working, as film and television productions often keep actors working for long hours each day on tight schedules.

According to TMZ, the musician allegedly realized his marriage was finished after catching Turner ‘saying and/or doing something’ that irked him on their security camera. 

Early reports focused on Jonas’ alleged devotion to their children after parenting them on his own for a short period of time, but critics subsequently defended Turner, pointing out that her work required her husband to share some of the burden for a limited period, and that Jonas should not have been praised for fulfilling his parental obligations.

Joe Jonas has been seen going without his wedding ring multiple times in recent weeks, and he is now reportedly preparing to file for divorce from his wife Sophie Turner.

The 34-year-old Jonas Brothers singer has also reportedly retained a divorce attorney, according to People.

At least as early as August 11, Jonas was seen with a bare left ring finger while taking care of some errands in The West Village in Manhattan.

DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Jonas, while a representative of Turner declined to comment.

The couple were married in two ceremonies in 2019, with the first taking place as an impromptu Las Vegas wedding the night after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards 

TMZ previously reported that the musician and actor had been meeting with divorce lawyers. Sources close to the situation also claimed that he was preparing to file divorce documents.

On August 11, he was seen in a casual black T-shirt and matching shorts that showed off his fit, tattooed figure while out in New York City.

He had a somewhat anonymous look with a black baseball cap and tinted glasses, and he carried an iced coffee and a Puma shopping back in his hands.

Missing from his left ring finger was the band he normally wears to commemorate his marriage to Sophie.

Joe and the 27-year-old Game Of Thrones star are said to have been having ‘serious problems’ for the past half year.

Sources told the publication that Joe has been primarily handling parenting duties in recent months.

They said he had been caring for their two young daughters — Willa, three, and a one-year-old girl whose name has not been publicly revealed — ‘pretty much all of the time’ for the past three months.

It’s unclear where Sophie has been or what has caused the arrangement leaving Joe to reportedly take the lead, though she has continued to act since the end of her HBO series Game Of Thrones.

That has meant that he has been handling solo parenting even as he tours with his brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas as The Jonas Brothers, and he’s reportedly still the one with the kids currently.

The two tend to share few details about their family life, and Sophie even avoided sharing any photos that revealed she was pregnant until after giving birth to Willa, while she and Joe have revealed even less about their younger daughter.

Details on what came between the couple are scarce, but they haven’t been spotted together in public for months, and they were apparently photographed together most recently in April when they were seen arriving at an afterparty in London that Jonas was DJing at.

Both Joe and Sophie continued to attend public events as a couple earlier this year, but the musician has been spotted on his own without his wedding ring in recent weeks. 

However, the couple continued to put on a strong face, though not in the same frame. Just one day after Joe was seen ringless on August 11, an eyewitness told Page Six that Sophie had attended a Jonas Brothers concert in Yankee Stadium.

She was reportedly seen partying with Nick’s wife Priyanka Chopra and Kevin’s wife Danielle Jonas, though she and Joe don’t appear to have been pictured together that night. Sophie does not appear to have attended any subsequent Jonas Brothers shows.

Complicating the picture somewhat was a later reappearance of Joe’s wedding ring. He was spotted out again with the band on August 21, and he also had the ring on during a Jonas Brothers performance in Detroit, Michigan, on August 24.

Three months ago, the couple sold their Miami mansion for a cool $15 million — but that was after they were forced to slash the asking price by $2 million in order to get it to move.

However, that was still a significant profit for the two, who had bought it just two years earlier for $11 million.

It’s unclear where Joe and Sophie have made their primary residence since selling off their mansion.

They previously purchased a New York City condo in 2018 for $5.6 million, but they had reportedly listed it for $5.9 million in 2020, and it’s unclear if the condo was ever sold.

Joe and Sophie were first linked in 2016, when they were spotted together multiple times and were seen kissing in November at a Kings of Leon concert held before the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Sources had confirmed the relationship by December, and the lovebirds went public with it in January 2017 when Sophie shared a photo of Joe on Instagram. 

In October 2017, Joe and Sophie revealed that they were engaged. 

In 2019, they made things official with a last-minute ceremony held at A Little White Wedding Chapel, the famous wedding venue in Las Vegas.

They later revealed that they had not told their parents in advance, but their secret got out thanks to their guest Diplo, who livestreamed the ceremony with his phone.

In July 2020, Sophie gave birth to her and Joe’s first child, a daughter named Willa.

She avoided sharing any photos featuring her pregnant stomach before the birth, and it wasn’t until September of that year that she began posting throwback photos from her pregnancy. 

The couple had originally been based in Los Angeles, but in September 2021 they sold their West Coast home in favor of the Miami mansion.

In May of last year, Sophie told Elle UK that she hoped their family would be able to relocate to England.

‘We’re very lucky to live in Miami. We have good weather and live by the water,’ she said. ‘I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family. And also for my daughter — I would love her to get the education and school life that I was so lucky to have. England would ideally be the final destination, but [Joe] might take quite a bit of convincing!’

They went on to welcome their second daughter in July 2022, though this time they were more tight-lipped when it came to her name.

Sophie didn’t betray a hint of cracks in her marriage when she posted a cute photo of herself and Joe in matching striped pajamas to mark his 34th birthday on August 15 of this year.

Rock n roll icon Tina Turner has died at age 83 after battling what she referred to as a combination of ‘medical catastrophes’ during her rich life.

Her publicist did not specify what Turner’s cause of death was, but said that she died after a battle with an unspecified ‘long illness’.

Turner, whose career spanned five decades, had confronted serious health conditions such as hypertension that led to a stroke and kidney failure, intestinal cancer, and post-traumatic stress disorder.  

Kidney disease 

Ms Turner had severe hypertension since 1978 that went untreated for years, leading to life-threatening kidney disease, one of the top leading causes of death in the US. 

She was prescribed treatment in 1985 but told herself the medications were making her sicker and stopped taking them. She transitioned to homeopathic remedies instead. 

Giddy at her check up to see how successful her more natural treatments were working, Ms Turner said: ‘Rarely in my life had I been so wrong. I had not known that uncontrolled hypertension would worsen my renal disease and that I would kill my kidneys by giving up on controlling my blood pressure.’

She added that her kidneys, which were functioning at less than 30 percent in 2016, were the ‘victims’ of her denial that she needed medicine to survive, adding that she put herself ‘at great danger by refusing to accept the reality that I required daily medication for the rest of my life.’

Kidney failure is the final stage of end-stage renal disease and, without a guaranteed transplant on the horizon, patients can expect to be put on hemodialysis.

The number of American adults who have chronic kidney disease (CKD) is now estimated to be 37 million and more than 562,000 are on dialysis, a process that requires the patient to sit stationary several times a week for hours at a time while a machine that filters the blood, removing waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys stop working properly. 

Her transplant in 2017 following a stint on dialysis was a success, but the battle was not yet won. 

Transplant recipients are required to take immunosuppressant medications to fend off an attack from their own immune system on the transplanted organ, resulting in an overall weakened ability to fight off infection.

She revealed that she still suffers from long-term ailments from the surgery, including ‘dizziness, forgetfulness, anxiety, and the occasional bout of insane diarrhea’. 

In her 2017 memoir Tina Turner: My Love Story, she wrote: ‘I know that my medical adventure is far from over. There’s always another test, another doctor’s appointment or biopsy to get through.’

She added: ‘We’re both still here, closer than we ever imagined and that’s cause for celebration.’

Stroke 

Ms Turner suffered a stroke in October 2013, three months after her second marriage to Erwin Bach.

She wrote in her memoir: ‘I woke up suddenly and in a panic. A lightning bolt struck my head and my right leg — at least that’s how it felt — and I had a funny sensation in my mouth that made it difficult for me to call out to Erwin for help. I suspected it wasn’t good, but it was worse than I ever imagined. I was having a stroke.’

The ordeal consigned her to a hospital bed for 10 days and she had to relearn to walk after that, kicking off a bumpy road to recovery.

She wrote: ‘Legs for days and muscles of steel from dancing, but I didn’t have the strength to get up. Terrified, I dragged myself over to a sofa, all the while thinking that I couldn’t imagine Tina Turner paralyzed.’ 

Age, high blood pressure, smoking, obesity, sedentary lifestyle and diabetes are all known to increase the risk of stroke.

The problem occurs when the blood supply to the brain is cut off and parts of the brain become damaged or die. The damage can lead to long-term disability and affect how people think and feel.

Intestinal cancer 

Ms Turner was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016, three years after her stroke. 

Intestinal cancer, also known as small intestine cancer or small bowel cancer, is very rare, accounting for just one percent of cancer cases in the US.

The cancer affects the tubing that carries digested food between your stomach and your colon. The small intestine has several jobs: It is responsible for digesting and absorbing nutrients from food, produces hormones that help with digestion, and helps bolster the body’s germ-fighting immune system. 

A malignant tumor throws all of those functions into question. The exact cause is unclear but it typically begins when healthy cells in the small bowel develop changes, or mutations, in their DNA. 

A cell’s DNA contains a set of instructions that tell a cell what to do. When the DNA becomes cancerous, the cells continue to divide and replicate unnecessarily. The accumulation of these cells forms a tumor. 

Tumors in the small intestine can block the flow of food and impact digestion. As the tumor grows, it can cause pain in the abdomen. If the flow of food is totally blocked, it can cause excruciating pain, nausea and vomiting.

The cancer can sometimes require surgery, though it can also be treated in some cases with chemotherapy.  

Ms Turner underwent surgery to remove the cancerous part of her intestine, an operation that delayed her kidney transplant. 

Post-traumatic stress disorder 

Before their 1978 divorce, Ms Turner suffered abuse at the hands of her ex-husband Ike Turner for 14 years, when she alleged that she endured a broken nose, broken jaw, and multiple black eyes.

She said: ‘I tried to keep myself sane while managing his insanity.’ 

It got so bad that Ms Turner attempted suicide at one point. 

She wrote in her memoir that she told her doctor she was having trouble sleeping so that he would prescribe her pills — she then took all 50 at once, with the intent of ending her life. 

In a 2021 documentary titled ‘TINA’, the icon said: ‘It wasn’t a good life. The good did not balance the bad. 

‘I had an abusive life, there’s no other way to tell the story. It’s a reality. It’s a truth. That’s what you’ve got, so you have to accept it.’

PTSD can affect those who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event for months, or even years. 

The condition first came to prominence when US veterans returned home from the Vietnam War in the 1970s. It was the modern version of ‘shell shock’, a term first coined during the First World War. 

Today, an estimated 13 million Americans deal with some form of PTSD.  

Emi is simply the best in Tina Turner tribute show Soul Sister

Tina Turner tribute show Soul Sister is both made and saved by Emi Wokoma’s sensational impersonation of the glamorous diva. With her electrified lion’s-mane hairdo, skirt hem around her  navel and thighs of teak, she is unforgettable.

The voice is spot-on, although the face looks nothing like the same. But this is a performance infused with Ms Wokoma’s own powerful, raw, gap-toothed personality, and that makes all the difference.

Tina Turner was a teenage gospel singer, real name Anna Mae Bullock, with Baptist roots in  Nutbush, Tennessee.

She was discovered, groomed and promoted by her mentor Ike Turner, who married her and thought he owned her.

This show tells how she eventually got out of the abusive marriage and crawled her way back up the bill from total career collapse to solo superstardom.

The problem is never the songs – they are great. It’s the script. Even by the decidedly unShakespearean standards of the compilation show genre, the dialogue here is lifeless, and Peter Brooks and Bob Eaton’s storytelling clunks like a wooden leg.

A lot of the domestic marital stuff is dragged out at length.  Ike is mean, chippy, short-fused and a terrible cocaine addict. Every time he snorts more of the devil’s dandruff you know he is going to thump her.

Never mind, by the Seventies feminism is in the air and battered Tina is chanting Buddhist mantras in a dressing gown in their Los Angeles mansion while Ike prowls around angrily. When at last Tina smacks him one in the mouth, how we all cheer!

Ike is very well played by Chris Tummings – a fine guitarist to boot – with a huge shiny lacquer wig which turns into an afro as the production progresses. Weirdly, however, the show doesn’t feature Tina’s last hit with him, Nutbush City Limits.

The cartoon-style design projections are classy and panels slide sleekly about the stage. But we also get the usual lazily chosen footage of Martin Luther King, Nixon, Moon landings etc to represent the social revolution of  the Sixties.

The early songs are terrific,  if less well known, Tina and  the Ikettes shimmying about in  joyous union. The onstage band really gets cooking in the second half and the big hits – What’s Love Got To Do With It and Simply The Best – are belters.

It’s Tina we want and Tina we get, thanks to Emi Wokoma, who, in a series of costume changes, gives us a sparkling, big-lunged brand of glitz and high-octane raunchiness. She’s simply the best even if the show isn’t.

In Dickens’ Women a short, round actress walks on stage and recites from one of the maestro’s novels. Then she announces: ‘That was Sarah Gamp from Martin Chuzzlewit, and I am Miriam Margolyes from Clapham. I have had a passion for Dickens all my life.’

What follows showcases two dozen or so women from Dickens’s work and Margolyes’s extraordinary gifts as a comic actress.

She has been touring this show for more than 20 years and she’s still on the road. Her twinkling personality perfectly dovetails with Dickens’s vivid creations.

She might be in thrall to the great man’s genius, but she’s certainly not blind to his faults. His poor wife Catherine, who bore him ten children, is a pitiful figure. As for the insipid young heroines in many of the novels, Margolyes is surely not alone in saying: ‘I find them rather icky.’

She reminds us of the childhood job Dickens endured in the blacking factory while his father was incarcerated in prison for debt – a shame that he never got over. But then, as Margolyes points out, ‘he never got over anything’. She also fills in some of the less familiar biography so Dickens doesn’t come over as too much of the jolly paterfamilias he’s been painted as.

We meet Dickens’s only lesbian character, Miss Wade from Little Dorrit; there is an icy encounter between Miss Havisham and Pip from Great Expectations; and Margolyes brilliantly recreates the bit from Oliver Twist in which Mr Bumble flirts with Mrs Corney by the fire: ‘Sexual greed to economic greed in one scene!’

This show, co-written with its director Sonia Fraser and accompanied by pianist Benjamin Lee, has come into its own in Dickens’s 200th anniversary year.

Margolyes is totally  in command of her material and this loving, literary tribute sparkles and never plods.
