  • Oregon was the first time this season Colorado faced a genuine contender
  • The clip of Lanning’s speech ironically went viral despite not ‘fighting for clicks’
  • DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news

Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning threw some shade at Deion Sanders’ Colorado in a passionate pregame speech ahead of his team’s 42-6 win against the Buffaloes.

‘Today, we talk with our pads. You talk with your helmet. Every moment. The Cinderella story is over man,’ Lanning said in front of his team.

‘They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins. There’s a difference. This game isn’t gonna be played in Hollywood, it’s gonna be played on the grass.’

Ironically of course, Lanning made the dig towards Sanders and Colorado in front of cameras and the clip soon went viral after gaining countless clicks before the game was even completed.

Despite his speech gaining the clicks he passionately claimed to be fighting against, it seemingly worked in motivating his players as the Ducks entered halftime with a 35-0 lead.

Lanning then went as far as to provide another click-garnering soundbite when he was interviewed heading into the locker room at halftime: ‘We’re not done yet. We’re not satisfied. I hope everyone that’s been watching (Colorado) every week is still watching.’

After the interval, Oregon RB Jordan James made it 42-0 in the third quarter, before Buffaloes receiver Michael Harrison added a consolation TD in the last.

Sanders was also trolled by Oregon’s mascot prior to the game, with the famous duck donning his trademark cowboy hat and glasses while smashing a ‘Prime Time’ clock.

The stunt didn’t go completely as planned though as the mascots head fell off during the dig.

‘Coach Prime’ and the Buffaloes had been the talk of the college scene heading into the game after their strong start to the season.

However, despite the amount of hype surrounding the team rising higher than the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, the team miserably failed to show up against the first actual contender they have ran into all season.

Leonardo DiCaprio throws his support behind vegan trainer brand loved by Hollywood A-listers and royalty – with pairs selling for an eye-popping £200

Climate activist Leonardo DiCaprio has invested his cash in vegan footwear brand LØCI MailOnline has learned.

The British label is popular amongst his fellow A-listers as well as royalty, including Ben Affleck, Eva LongoriaMeghan Markle and Princess Eugenie.

Leo first threw his support behind the company in October last year saying at the time:  ‘I am proud to be an investor in LØCI, a brand dedicated to minimising its environmental impact, and centred around creating cruelty-free, ethical footwear.’

LØCI’s sneakers come in numerous colours and designs, but are not cheap and cost on average of £200 a pair.

The brand boasts about ‘ethical fashion without sacrificing on style’ and uses ‘premium repurposed ocean and land plastic’, which was no doubt a draw for climate activist Leo.

100% vegan, cruelty-free, and unisex, LØCI sneakers are handmade in Porto, Portugal using recycled ocean plastics, as well as renewable and biodegradable materials where possible to help deliver a stylish eco-conscious sneaker.

Production is scaled up or down in response to demand to manage environmental impact. 10% of online profits on every pair purchased are donated to conservation charities focused on protecting wildlife.

James Blunt‘s aristocrat wife Sofia has also designed a range for the label which benefited the Blue Marine Foundation.

Earlier this year Titanic star Leo risked accusations of eco-hypocrisy as he was seen leaving Porto Cervo, Sardinia via a private airport.

The actor who is a noted climate activist, boarded a plane at Olbia Private Airport which has its own private jet terminal for wealthy travellers.

It comes as he has travelled between the US and cities such as London, Milan, and Paris over recent months – accumulating over 12,000 miles of travel.

Leo has previously come under fire for his use of gas-guzzling private jets.

In 2016, he was ridiculed for an 8,000 mile trip via private jet from Europe to New York City to accept an award for his environmental activism.

Carbon emissions for private jets vary, but by some accounts are more than 37 times higher than flying commercial.

It comes after the actor has been at the centre of a controversy – following his public kiss with Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, 25, in Ibiza earlier this month.

And The Hollywood star has received some backlash on Twitter for dating yet another younger model.

The Revenant sensation was seen in a passionate clinch with his new flame Vittoria during a recent visit to Hi Ibiza nightclub on the Spanish party island.

He has a reputation for only dating women 25 or under and famously tends to break up with them after they pass the milestone – as he did with his last serious girlfriend  Camila Morrone, now 26.

After the pictures emerged with Vittoria, many were quick to ridicule him for the fact it wouldn’t be a long relationship as she will turn 26 next June.

One wrote: ‘She gonna be gone before this tweet is done,’ while another joked: ‘One more year and he won’t look at her again.’

Leonardo and Vittoria, who have a 23 year age gap, were spotted gazing lovingly into each others eyes before they locked lips while partying at the venue until 4:30am.

Furious motorist throws eco protester to the side of the road, punches and kicks another before slapping a third as their group stages sit-down protest on German highway

  • Shocking video captured the moment an enraged man leapt into the B36 road
  • He slapped, punched and kicked protesters before dragging them away

This is the moment a fed up motorist resorted to violence to break up a street-blocking eco-protest in Germany.

Shocking video shows the enraged man leaping into the B36 highway near the Victoria Tower in Mannheim and began punching and kicking a series of activists from Last Generation – a German climate protection movement.

Police have now arrested the 29-year-old suspect, according to German newspaper Bild.de.

The assailant, wearing a white vest and grey jogging bottoms, was one of several angered motorists who confronted the eco-zealots who had donned orange uniforms and sat on the tarmac, backing up three lanes of cars.

When the demonstrators remained seated and refused to move he snapped, lashing out with fists and feet of fury and dragging them away.

Mannheim Police found out about the attack the following day and arrested the suspect in Ludwigsburg, where he was taken for interrogation.

He is now facing charges of assault, according to Bild.de.

But Aimée van Baalen, the group’s spokeswoman, remains steadfast in their commitment to continue similar protests despite the controversy.

She maintains that Last Generation will not be deterred by opposition and is resolute in its mission to bring attention to climate change.

‘The federal government ignored our protest for so long that scenes like yesterday in Mannheim have now occurred – this saddens and shocks us,’ she said, blaming the authorities for the continuation of the protests.

It comes just days after a disgruntled police officer poured vegetable oil over the head of one protester who blocked a bridge.

An image shared by German outlet Rheinpfalz showed the police officer holding a huge canister of oil and tipping it down the neck of the orange-clad protester on the Konrad Adenauer Bridge between Mannheim and Ludwigshafen on Saturday.

Mannheim police confirmed to German media they were investigating the matter but refused to offer a comment on the actions of the officer.

Last Generation has earned a reputation for its road-based protests which often see demonstrators glue themselves to the asphalt in actions similar to those of Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil in the UK.

The group staged 276 road blockages in Germany alone throughout 2022.

The latest incidents in Mannheim come weeks after one Last Generation protester was hit by a lorry of a low-carbon energy company.

In July, three protesters were dragged out of the way by a furious lorry driver working for low-carbon energy company Air Liquide – only to rush back in front of the lorry before one of them was knocked flying.

Air Liquide is the Paris Olympics‘ official hydrogen supporter and works to innovate ‘the development of low-carbon hydrogen and biomethane for the energy transition’.

The driver of the lorry at first jumps out to push and drag the activists out of his way.

When they sit back in position, he slowly starts driving forward – and then shunts the activist closest to the pavement. The force is enough to send the young man flying back and bystanders come to his aid.

The lorry driver is seen throwing his hands up in frustration and stops the lorry before leaping out of the cab again to pull the protesters aside.

Air Liquide provided the following statement to MailOnline: ‘On July 12, Air Liquide was made aware of an altercation in Stralsund, Germany, between a third-party contract driver of Air Liquide Medical Gases and local protesters.

‘Images display unacceptable behaviour from the driver that is not aligned with Air Liquide’s values in any way.

‘The third-party contractor has been notified that Air Liquide will no longer accept the services of this individual.’

Stick to basketball Victor! 7-foot-4 phenom Wembanyama throws a howler of a first pitch at Yankees game – ahead of the NBA Draft where he is set to be picked first

  • Tuesday, the future NBA star had the honor of throwing the Yankees first pitch
  • DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news

Future NBA star Victor Wembanyama had the honor of throwing the first pitch at the New York Yankees game Tuesday night but it didn’t go too well.

The French teenager, who touched down in the United States Monday ahead of Thursday’s draft, wasted no time in visiting the country’s other iconic sports teams.

Wembanyama, 19, is used to wowing on the basketball court and is expected to continue doing so in the NBA but his first visit to the mound could be his last.

He threw the first pitch at the Yankees’ game Tuesday but yanked it well outside, missing the catcher entirely.

Before the Yankees’ matchup against the Seattle Mariners the 7-foot-4 phenom shared a snap of the baseball looking freakishly small in his hands.

The French superstar appeared to acknowledge how small the baseball, which resembled something more like a golf ball, looked in his hands as he wrote: ‘Lmaooooo.’

Wembanyama, wearing an unreleased pair Nike x Drake sneakers and a Yankees jersey, took the time to sign autographs for fans at the side of the field.

The sensation will be taken No. 1 overall by the San Antonio Spurs when the card is read out at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Wembanyama, wearing a Joe DiMaggio No. 5 jersey, took a few swings in the batting cages and showed off yet another skill as he juggles baseball to the awe of this audience gathered.

He was also spotted chatting to Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, hilariously towering over him.

He was given a preview of what his life Stateside would be like when he was swarmed by fans at Newark Airport Monday ahead of the draft.

In video exclusively obtained by Mail Sport, Wembanyama admitted he’s excited to be in the Big Apple.

‘I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,’ the French phenom said, via Adam Glyn.

The young Frenchman is the biggest NBA Draft prize in more than a decade. Dubbed a ‘generational talent’ by none other than LeBron James, Wembanyama is athletic, skilled, enormous, and still only 19.

Wembanyama will be drafted precisely two decades on from when James was taken by his hometown organization, the Cleveland Cavaliers, in 2003. He has received praise for all corners of the globe in recent months – and perhaps none greater than from James’s former teammate, Richard Jefferson.

‘If LeBron James at that exact moment showed up, Victor would go higher than him,’ Jefferson, a former teammate of James, said during an October airing of NBA Today.

‘LeBron James, and all the things that we saw — and I’m not saying he’s going to be better than LeBron James — what I’m saying is right now, I remember LeBron James 20 years ago.

‘That player was six-foot-seven, this person is seven-[foot]-four. LeBron James would be number two if he has the exact same age in the exact same draft, LeBron James would be number two. That’s how crazy this kid is as a prospect.’

The 19-year-old will play in the NBA’s Summer League this July after previous reporting said the French phenom would skip the event.

Wembanyama just wrapped up the LNB Pro A championship series, where his Metropolitans 92 squad were swept in a best-of-five series vs. Monaco.

A man has thrown two women off a 300ft-high bridge – killing one of them – at a world-famous German castle after sexually assaulting them, reports have said.

The attack happened at Neuschwanstein castle, said to have been the inspiration for Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ castle. Police said the man fled but was arrested.

It is understood that the two women were on the Marienbrücke bridge, a narrow footbridge that crosses a gorge at a height of around 300 feet, when attacked.

According to German tabloid Bild, the 31-year-old man first sexually assaulted the two women at the popular tourist attraction on Wednesday afternoon. The newspaper reported that all three were American.

It reports that there was then a scuffle, before the man threw them both over the railings and into the ravine below.

According to German tabloid Bild, the 31-year-old man first sexually assaulted the two women at the popular tourist attraction on Wednesday afternoon, before throwing them off

A 21-year-old woman died in a hospital overnight, while her 22-year-old companion was still in hospital with injuries, ZDF reported.

A large-scale police operation was launched at the scenic tourist attraction.

Footage from the castle purportedly showed a man being led away in handcuffs, and one of the victims being lifted out of the ravine by a helicopter.

The attack is said to have happened at the entrance to the bridge, which is hugely popular as it offers a view of the 19th century Neuschwanstein castle.

Chief Public Prosecutor Thomas Hörmann told Bild: ‘The crime happened on Wednesday around 2:40 p.m. The two tourists met the man on a hiking tour east of the Marienbrücke. And joined him.’

He said the trio had walked to the view point, where the man physically attacked the 21-year-old women. Her friend fought back, he said.

‘The 22-year-old wanted to help, so he choked her and pushed her down the slope.’

Hörmann said the 21-year-old also fell down into the ravine, where they remained lying next to each other around ‘at a depth of about 50 meters’ (165ft).

The 22-year-old was responsive, the prosecutor said. Her friend was airlifted to hospital here she was pronounced dead.

Revolut boss slams regulators for failing to hand it a UK banking licence – just months after payment app said that it was expecting green light ‘imminently’

Nik Storonsky: Obtaining a licence is a ‘long and tiring process’

The boss of Revolut has slammed regulators for failing to hand it a UK banking licence – just months after the payment app said that it was expecting a green light ‘imminently’.

Revolut has been trying for more than two years to win approval from regulators, which would allow it to expand its services in Britain into taking deposits and giving loans.

In early March the company said a licence from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) would be granted ‘imminently’ – possibly within days.

But following a warning from its auditor that parts of its accounts were ‘materially mis-stated’, it is still waiting.

Smaller rivals such as Monzo and Starling already have UK banking licences, while Estonia’s LHV bank was granted one this week.

In an outburst yesterday – labelled ‘sour grapes’ by one City observer – Revolut co-founder and chief executive Nik Storonsky said winning approval has been a ‘long and tiring process’ and warned Britain was an undesirable place to do business.

‘You wait for emails or letters for months. This is not the business environment to operate in the modern world,’ he told The Times, adding that there was a ‘slowing down’ in British tech despite political ambitions to become the next Silicon Valley. ‘In the past a lot of people would come to London; it was the place to be. That has now changed.’

Storonksy’s comments come as his business faces increasing scrutiny. London-based Revolut raised eyebrows after its latest accounts were five months overdue, with its auditor BDO stating that some parts were ‘materially mis-stated’.

This included three-quarters of its £636m revenue in 2021, which BDO said it could not independently verify. Revolut was also criticised by the FCA in March and ordered to change or remove an advert within 48 hours.

The watchdog declined to give details but its rules state: ‘All adverts and promotions for financial services must be fair, clear and not misleading.’

The firm also suffered a setback last month when Schroders valued it at £14billion, a far cry from the £27billion price tag it boasted in its last funding round in 2021.

Danni Hewson, financial analyst at AJ Bell, said there was an element of ‘sour grapes’ in Storonsky’s comments. ‘I think Britain has become a bit of a punchbag for people who don’t get their way in business,’ she said.

Revolut was set up in 2015 by Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko. It has 28m customers and operates in more than 200 countries.

Storonsky told The Times that he would choose New York over London if he was ever going to list the company.
