You have goat to be kidding: Farmer left stunned after goats break in to her home, take a seat on her £300 rug and munch on a table

  • ‘Chaz and Dave’ managed to escape their field to dine on blueberries in the garden before heading indoors for a nap
  •  The pair even ate the farmer’s birthday flowers during the early hours raid

Most pet owners know that they can occasionally be troublesome creatures.

So spare a though for farmer Katherine Mackenzie who was woken in the early hours by the sound of her kitten going berserk only to be then confronted by her pet goats napping on her luxury rug.

The 43-year-old has told how she was left stunned after going downstairs to find her pets had broken out of their enclosure and into her home.

‘Chaz and Dave’ then wreaked havoc, pulling over expensive house plants, munching their way through the birthday flowers, dragging clothing about, before settling down on a £300 rug to munch on a small table.

Miss Mackenzie believes the pair had help escaping their enclosure from Kitty and Blue, a miniature Shetland pony and a black and white cob, when they leaned against the fence to let them out.

It is thought the goats, named after the famed London musical duo who had a string of hits in the 80s, then used their hooves to open the door.

She said: “One night last week they were outside in the garden so I put them back in the field but they must have jumped back over the fence.

‘We think they have learned how to push down the handle and open the door.

‘They even ate my birthday flowers.’

The pair had already made a bid for freedom earlier in the day to get to the brambles and carrots in the garden.

But they took their antics one step further – by entering their owner’s home near Oban, in the middle of the night.

They pulled over expensive house plants, munched their way through the birthday flowers, dragged clothing about, before settling down on a luxury £300 rug to munch on a small table.

They even jumped all over a corner sofa.

The family was only alerted to the mayhem when they were woken by their kitten Nalla going berserk in the hallway at 5.45am.

Miss Mackenzie, who’s birthday was just the day before, said: ‘I couldn’t believe it. They were in the living room on my rug, one was chewing the corner of the table and the other was looking at me as if I was a weirdo.

‘They were jumping all over the couch and running up and down the hall.

‘It’s just as well we’ve got wooden floors. They’re a nightmare.’

The 43-year-old, spent five minutes trying to coax the goats from their luxury accommodation.

But they refused to move past the front door. In the end she said she had to ‘grab them by the horns’ and haul them out.

The mischievous duo are now back where they belong following last week’s break in.

But Miss Mackenzie, who is still cleaning up after last week’s event, said: ‘I’ve had to move the horses into a different field. It took me a few days to cotton on to how they were getting out. But they were leaning against the fencing to let them out. It was like a conspiracy.’

Despite their antics, Miss Mackenzie admits her animals have become part of the family.

She said: ‘It is not the first time that the animals have worked together to get into the house. Rosie the pet lamb likes a seat on the couch as well.

‘Maybe the goats were jealous.’

Newcastle fans made a splash in Milan ahead of the Champions League showdown on Tuesday, with video capturing the moment one leapt into the city’s canal and took on a local rowing team in a bizarre race.

The over-confident fan left the rowers stunned as he divebombed into the Naviglio Grande and attempted to swim alongside them.

Delighted fans egged him on as he stripped down to his boxers to cool off in the canal, which was lined with Newcastle and England flags as supporters built up to the game.

Despite his bravado and enthusiastic cheers from the crowd, the bold swimmer only managed a few strokes before he was outpaced by the boat.

As the rowing boat disappears into the distance, clearly winning the competition, boos erupt as the man slowed down to a dejected paddle.

‘He could have made it!’ one onlooker yelled sarcastically. Another joked that the man might need a life ring as he lost his stamina.

He later tried to clamber out of the canal, with no ladder or helping hand in sight.

The fan’s bizarre stunt came just hours before his team were due to play AC Milan at the San Siro.

Jubilant fans filled the streets as the Magpies returned to the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.

Hundreds of raucous fans piled into the Lombardy capital, many going wild as they drunkenly took over the streets of the city.

More fans opted to go topless as they enjoyed pre-match drinks in the city centre, with video showing a handful sliding on their chests through the rain-soaked streets.

Their antics were slammed as ‘cringe’ by some locals, with the video showing annoyed residents pushing past dozens of men as they set up a slip and slide on the cobbled streets.

The group cleared a smooth part of the thoroughfare and put out plastic cups before launching themselves like a human bowling ball.

One man took a few people out as he flew towards the crowd, leaving members of the Toon Army in hysterics.

But after an entertaining build-up to the game, spirits were sadly dampened by the result, with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night.

Awkward moment Mads Mikkelsen is stunned to be asked about lack of diversity in the cast for his film set in 1750s Denmark

  • Mikkelsen stars in the film The Promised Land with a largely white cast

A forthcoming movie set in 1750’s Denmark has been accused of lacking diversity and told it risks not qualifying for Best Picture at the Oscars following new rules laid down in Hollywood.

The Promised Land sees James Bond actor Mads Mikkelsen play an 18th-century army captain struggling to raise his social status and maintain his values in an increasingly hostile climate.

Mikkelsen appears alongside a predominantly white cast, and during an interview a Danish journalist quizzed the actor about the dearth of racial diversity – which riled the star.

The reporter asked him: ‘The film is entirely Nordic, it therefore has some lack of diversity you would say, there’s also new rules implied in Hollywood…?’

Mikkelsen, who starred in Casino Royale as a villain, immediately shook his head and asked: ‘What are you on?’, before turning to his director in apparent disbelief.

The journalist then explained that Best Picture Academy nominees must align with new rules announced by the Oscars committee which state that movies must include diverse leading or supporting actors, or that a large number of the cast are from underrepresented groups.

He asked: ‘It’s not because of artistic reasons, it’s because of a lack of diversity, are you worried about it?’

An irritated Mikkelsen, 57, replied: ‘Are you? You’re putting us on the spot so you answer the question.’

Director Nikolaj Arcel then intervened and explained that the movie does in fact feature an ethnically diverse character who was a victim of racism.

‘We do have a big plot line about a girl of colour who is being subjected to racism, she was probably at the time the only [person of colour] in the entire country of Denmark.

‘It wasn’t a thought in our mind, I think it would be a little weird, it’s just how it was in the 1750s,’ Mr Arcel added as Mr Mikkelsen grinned beside him.

The historical drama is based on a novel inspired by a real person, Captain Ludvig Kahlen, and premiered at the recent Venice Film Festival.

In May the Oscars committee announced new representation and inclusion standards for a film to be eligible for the awards, though it applies solely for the best picture category.

The standards, which come into effect next year, are designed to encourage equal representation on and off screen to better reflect the diversity of the movie-going and movie-making audience.

They require that the film must meet the criteria of either having at least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors, or that 30 per cent of the secondary roles, are from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group.

Margot Robbie and Liam Hemsworth’s American fans left stunned over their accents as clip of the pair on  Neighbours goes viral: ‘I forgot they were Aussie’

Margot Robbie and Liam Hemsworth fans are losing it over their accents in an unearthed clip of the pair from their early acting days.

The video, which is going viral on TikTok, sees Margot, 33, and Liam, also 33, starring in scene on long-running soap Neighbours together back in 2008.

Liam, who played Josh Taylor from 2007 to 2008, and Margot, who played Donna Freedman from 2008 to 2011, have a heated argument about their friends.

Margot’s character says phrases like ‘cut the pity party’ and ‘talk to the hand’ while defending her friend Bridget, played by Eloise Mignon.

American fans were left stunned over the pair’s very Aussie accents.

‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard him talk with his Aussie accent,’ one fan commented on the TikTok video.

‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard him talk with his Aussie accent,’ said another, while one wrote, ‘I forgot Margot is Aussie.’

A fan also joked: ‘Thank god for subtitles.’

Liam and Margot both got their start in acting on the classic Aussie soap before they both went on to become Hollywood stars.

Fans also pointed out how several Australian actors began their careers on soaps like Neighbours or Home and Away.

‘I love how basically all Australians actors start on neighbours,’ someone said.

Margot bagged the role of Donna Freedman on the show when she was just 17 and moved to Melbourne where she had no friends or family.

She made a quick cameo in the final TV episode of the soap, which she found ‘very emotional.’

While the show has since been saved and will be revived digitally, Margot was one of the many stars who returned for the star-studded finale.

Speaking at BAFTA: A Life In Pictures, supported by electronics brand TCL, in London last year, she explained: ‘When it was ending it was a very emotional thing. I wrote everyone a big letter with all my memories and sent 37 bottles of champagne for the years it had been on air – and of course I did a video they could play.’

After moving to Hollywood, Margot landed a role in TV series Pan Am and two years later in 2013 she bagged her first feature film role in Richard Curtis’ romantic comedy About Time.

She most recently starred as Barbie in the 2023 film alongside Ryan Gosling.

Meanwhile, Liam launched his career playing wheelchair-bound hunk Josh Taylor on the street from 2007 to 2008.

He’s since taken Hollywood by storm in his role as Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games and has recently been cast to replace Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in season four of The Witcher.

A Brit holidaymaker has been left stunned to discover a new level of sunbed-grabbing insanity at a Majorca hotel.

In recent years tourists have been getting up increasingly early to put their towels down to ensure that they have a prime poolside spot for the day.

But in a number of popular holiday spots, hotels have added some form of rule in a bid to prevent morning towel dashes.

This includes the resort area of Camp de Mar in Majorca in Spain, where some hotels are keeping their pool shut until later in the morning to keep the early risers at bay.

Crafty guests, however, have already found a way to bypass this rule – by putting their towels down on the floor at the entrance to the pool area.

Photos show beach bags and towels placed in an orderly queue leading to the closed-off pool area so hotel guests can secure their sun bed the moment that it opens.

Holidaymaker Geoff told The Mirror: ‘In an effort to control the sunbed madness, the door from the hotel to the pool area was kept locked until 8am.

‘So people were lining their towels up on the floor in a queue order by the door before it opened. I must add this wasn’t youngsters, but mostly elderly and middle-aged people.’

Discussing the behaviour of the other guests at a four star hotel in Camp de Mar, he said: ‘The towel line actually went back much further (than the picture shows) and the owners were seated on the sofas just out of sight, ready to fly outside when the door was unlocked.

‘I don’t know what time they started, but we were up at 6.30am one morning to grab breakfast before an excursion, and there was already an established towel queue forming at the door. Crazy behaviour!’

Meanwhile, a holiday hero has spoken out against some ‘entitled’ tourists who reserved sun loungers for nine hours while he and his wife were on holiday in Bali.

Newlyweds Thom Aspland and Lisa were honeymooning at Bali’s Grand Barong Resort where they were met by unfurled towels on sun loungers at 6.30am.

After returning at 1pm and seeing the chairs untouched, the couple waited for a further hour of no movement, before finally ditching the reserving towels and taking the spot themselves.

While the other holidaymakers made their way towards the loungers, he took a shortcut to arrive their first and throw his towels down to claim the seats in impressive speed

This wasn't the first time the man was on the hunt, as another video showed him in a black T-shirt securing the best spot

Hilarious footage captured the moment a holidaymaker (in black T-shirt) bagged five sun loungers by sprinting through the sun beds before throwing his towels on the best pool-side spots

They were met at 3.30pm by the shocked pair of ‘entitled’ tourists ‘iPads and books in hand’.

The couple were even sure to teach their competitors a lesson by ushering other tourists in their place as they left.

Speaking to Yahoo News, Thom said: ‘We definitely thought they were entitled, but were surprised they didn’t confront us.’

He assumed that the lack of confrontation was down to the fact that ‘they knew what they had done’.

Thom also noted the hilarious extent of the couple’s pettiness in getting on the beds in the first place.

‘We didn’t even want the beds,’ he said, but the compulsion to prove a point was too strong.

‘Many places here have an hour rule, so we just made sure we gave them an hour once we got in the pool,’ he added.

He revealed that he and Lisa had been looking on from the bar for two hours before making their move.

He also gave comical detail about the approach of the pair who thought they would get away with the nine-hour reservation, saying that ‘they quickly walked towards the chairs, then stopped and looked at each other to pause’.

‘They then frantically looked for their two personal towels’ before departing to their hotel room never to be seen again, he said.

The happy couple made absolutely certain that they proved their point when they left by passing the beds on to a mother and daughter after telling them the whole story.

Thom shared the ‘petty’ revenge story online with droves of followers agreeing that leaving towels on seats all day was ‘sun hogging’ and disrespectful.

‘Am I the only one hoping there’s a day two to this situation,’ one person said.

Another wrote: ‘Proof that not all heroes wear a cape.

‘Would shout you both a Bintang if I were there.’

‘I would’ve done the same except I wouldn’t have waited – if they weren’t there using them its free for all,’ a third added.

Some also commended the couple for waiting the hour that they did.

Thom then posted an update of the empty poolside chairs on the following morning as a sign of victory.

‘Free all morning,’ he declared.

In August, the hilarious moment a holidaymaker bagged five sun loungers by sprinting towards them before throwing his towels on the best pool-side spots was posted on TikTok by a guest who filmed the chaotic scene from her balcony at the Paradise Park Hotel in Los Cristianos, Tenerife.

The video shows a large pool surrounded by a decked terrace, moments before several people emerge and start running towards the sunbeds.

One man dressed in yellow can be seen sprinting towards the loungers with several towels on his arm. He skipped past rows of other chairs until he reached the ones in the prime pool-side spot.

While the other guests made their way towards the loungers, he took a shortcut to arrive there first and threw his towels down to claim the seats at an impressive speed.

This wasn’t the first time the man was on the hunt, as another video showed him in a black T-shirt securing the best spot.

Jess Clarke, who filmed the crowd, captioned her video: ‘Day Three Sunbed Wars’.

It quickly gained more than 11,000 likes and hundreds of comments were left by viewers, saying: ‘Love it, so funny’ or remarking: ‘I’ve never seen sunbed wars that bad.’

Another commented: ‘Guy in yellow put in a proper shift.’

A fourth said: ‘9am sunbed wars paradise park Tenerife what a sight.’

One user recognised the man from Ms Clarke’s previous video titled ‘Day 1’.

The hotel is known for sunbed reservation races and similar scenes were captured on camera last year.

A viral TikTok video from July shows tourists at the Tenerife hotel making a shameless dash for the best poolside spot.

Footage shows a crowd of holidaymakers show up at a pool at Paradise Park just as it opens.

They then drop their towels on the hotspot’s best loungers – with some even glancing around guiltily as they do it.

TikTok user Sarah, whose clip has already garnered more than five million views in just one day, simply captioned it: ‘The Sunbed Race’.

Paradise Park spokesman Rafael Ruiz-Benitez de Lugo told MailOnline last year: ‘We were amused to see it considering that our hotel has five swimming pools and areas with space and sunbeds for everyone.

‘Although we see quite a bit of talent among our guests for obstacle races.’

Weeks before, in June last year, sunbed-blockers had their towels taken away by hotel staff at another resort in Tenerife.

Holidaymaker Amanda Proctor filmed the moment the workers picked up dozens of towels that guests had laid out on empty sun loungers in a bid to reserve the best seats next to the pool at the five star Gran Costa Adeje Hotel in southern Tenerife.

Ms Proctor said that the staff at the hotel, which features four pools, took the guests’ bags and towels and left a note on the chairs telling them where to collect their belongings.

The holidaymaker said there was a sign at the hotel saying guests were not allowed to reserve sunbeds before 10am.

A spokesman at the hotel told MailOnline: ‘At GF Gran Costa Adeje, we defend the right of all our guests to enjoy our pools and we ask everyone to respect our policy.

‘All guests will have their space in our solarium. In this situation, our colleague, like the entire GF Gran Costa Adeje team, is a hero without a cape. We are very happy with the reaction to the video and from our customers.’

Woman is stunned to find out what the Travelodge logo actually is

  • TikTok user called herself a ‘dumb a**’ for not realising what Travelodge logo was
  • Surprised social media star had always thought the image to be rolling hills

With its crescent moon, stars and ‘rest easy’ slogan, there’s no mistaking what the Premier Inn logo is all about – especially when you throw in a snoozing Lenny Henry for good measure.

But rival budget hotel Travelodge has a far more complicated logo, or at least according to one startled TikToker who confessed to finally working out what it actually was… after years of believing it was some rolling hills.

The blue of the hillside with a red sky behind lends itself to a sunrise scene, but that’s not what you’re looking at.

After finally taking a proper look at the Travelodge logo, TikTok user @chxrll posted a video on the social media platform calling herself a 'dumb a**', realising what its true meaning actually was.

After taking a proper look at the logo that appears on billboards, TV ads and  on the chain’s 590 hotels, the TikToker finally twigged.

Sharing her revelation on TikTok, user @chxrll declared herself a ‘dumb a**’, realising what its true meaning actually was.

In her viral video, she said: ‘My dumb a** thinking about how the Travelodge logo is a person sleeping…

‘For years I thought it was hills!’

Another commenter had an altogether more surprising take on what they thought the logo was. ‘S***, I thought it was a seagull,’ they replied, LadBible reports.

Another said they had never even paid attention to the design and ‘thought it was just colours’.
