Firebrand Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz has said lawmakers will soon force a vote on impeaching President Joe Biden – and warned Speaker Kevin McCarthy could face the consequences if he tries to stop them.

The lawmaker urged his GOP colleagues to ‘seize the initiative’ in investigating the 80-year-old president when they return to Washington next week.

He also said McCarthy ‘may not have the job long’ if he ‘stands in the way’ of pushing for a Congressional trial into Biden’s links to his son Hunter’s foreign business deals.

McCarthy agreed to lower the requirements for a motion to remove him as Speaker in the negotiations to secure his election during a 15-round vote battle in January.

Gaetz is now threatening to use the procedure from the ‘toolkit’ if impeachment isn’t on the agenda next week.

‘I have traveled the country and spoken to so many Americans. They’re disillusioned with House Republicans right now’, Gaetz told conservative radio host Todd Starnes on Tuesday.

‘They think that we have not put up a substantial battle to defeat the worst elements of this Biden administration.

‘I worked very hard in January to develop a toolkit for House Republicans to use in a productive and positive way. I don’t believe we’ve used those tools as effectively as we should have. 

‘When we get back to Washington, we have got to seize the initiative. 

‘That means forcing votes on impeachment. And if Speaker McCarthy stands in our way, he may not have the job long.’

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee have been investigating Biden and issues over his family’s overseas business deals since he was inaugurated in January 2020.

But the party is facing an internal divide over an impeachment vote.

Lawmakers on the right are entirely behind the proposal, while more moderate members have resisted.

The issue will also be at the center of government shutdown negotiations as the September 30 deadline approaches.

Marjorie Taylor Greene promised to vote against funding the government if impeaching proceedings had not begun.  

The White House has rejected every suggestion Joe was involved in his son Hunter’s business deals and insists the Biden impeachment push is politically motivated. 

Ian Sams, White House spokesperson for oversight and investigations,, slammed Gaetz’s comments.

‘On the heels of openly admitting the goal of impeachment isn’t to get to the truth but instead to damage the President politically, Matt Gaetz is yet again confirming that House Republicans’ evidence-free impeachment stunt is being driven by the demands of the most extreme, far-right members of Congress, he said. 

‘Last week, Marjorie Taylor Greene threatened to shut down the government if she didn’t get an impeachment vote, and now Gaetz is threatening to potentially oust Speaker McCarthy if he doesn’t give them what they want,’ Sams said.

‘If Speaker McCarthy opens an impeachment inquiry simply to throw red meat to the right wing, it will yet again prove this is nothing more than a costly, illegitimate, politically-motivated exercise not rooted in reality.’

Footage shows the anatomically correct replica of the female genitalia engraved with prayers at a Buddhist shrine in the Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Eight smaller vaginas surround the mammoth vulva, while a stone snake with seven heads has been built under a mango tree to ‘guard’ the sacred lady parts.

The ‘fortune’ vagina was reportedly built by devout Buddhist nun Naowaratkotchaporn Simethawong, or Mother Brahmin, to cleanse women of bad luck for committing sinful acts. 

The statue has swollen in popularity and followers now regularly visit to pray.

Devotees have even built a matching golden penis surrounded by eight smaller ones to complement the selection of vulvas on show. 

The genital shrine has become such a hit that local council chief Kanatchon Sijaroen was joined by a team of his staff and several policemen to inspect the items on May 22. 

Kanatchon has now cleared the items. He said: ‘We want to ensure the shrine complies with the moral standards. We ordered them to remove signs that might be vulgar. 

‘It was also found to be disrespectful to have a Buddhist shrine so close to genitalia statues, so we have ordered that to be moved to a new position.’

After the inspection, visitors continued to flood in. 

However, a large Buddhist statue that used to stand between the vagina and the penis was ordered to be relocated to a different area in the shrine to avoid ‘being disrespectful’ to the religious monument.

Visiting the vagina statue to pray and take part in the special ceremony costs 500 baht (£11.61). 

Mother Brahmin said: ‘We do ceremonies here to provide remedies for misfortunes, particularly women who aborted a child.’

She added: ‘I believe that we should pay respect to the genitals because they represent the origin of life and abundance in the world. It is not strange or unusual.

‘Despite this, I am willing to cooperate with the government to address any concerns.’

Denver Nuggets All-Star center Nikola Jokic dismissed claims he could be suspended for Game 5 of the series with the Phoenix Suns after he got technical foul for pushing Suns owner Mat Ishbia in the game.

The incident was in the second quarter of Game 4 on Sunday when Suns guard Josh Okogie crashed into the seats while trying to save a loose ball. He landed in a group of fans on the baseline that included Ishbia, who grabbed the basketball.

Jokic was trying to get the basketball back quickly – apparently so the Nuggets could start their offensive possession – when he tried to take the ball away from Ishbia. The ball flew backward into the crowd, and then Ishbia was knocked backward by Jokic’s elbow.

Jokic was unapologetic after the game, which the Suns won 129-124 but he scored a brilliant total of 53 points.

‘The fan put the hand on me first,’ Jokic said. ‘I thought the league was supposed to protect us. Maybe I am wrong. I know who he is, but he is sitting on the court so he is a fan, isn´t he? He cannot influence the game.’

After the incident coaches, officials, and other players quickly stepped in two separate Jokic from the first row of the crowd

He was asked if he was worried he risked a fine or suspension for Game 5.

‘Why? His hands are on me,’ Jokic said. They are not going to protect me? They are going to protect the fan? I’m talking about it as a player. 

‘They can do whatever of course, they don’t care but I think they are supposed to protect players.’

Nuggets coach Michael Malone added: ‘(Jokic) is going to get the ball and some fan is holding on to the ball like he wants to be part of the game. Just give the ball up, man.’

When Malone was told the fan was Ishbia he simply responded: ‘I don’t give a s***. I really don’t care.’ 

There were a few minutes of confusion as officials sorted out the weird scene, and then Jokic was assessed a technical foul. The Suns made the ensuing free throw.

Suns star Devin Booker – who finished with 36 points and 12 assists – said he knew it was Ishbia in the middle of the fracas.

‘He got us a point!’ Booker said with a grin.

The Nuggets center shot an impressive 20-30 from the field and 11-13 from the free throw line

Denver’s MVP candidate also recorded 11 assists to end the night with another double-double

Ishbia told The Associated Press at halftime that he was ‘fine’ and more worried about the game than the altercation. 

He was back in his usual seats in the second half. The incident didn’t seem to bother Jokic either – the MVP runner-up finished with 53 points on 20-of-30 shooting.

Ishbia has only been the Suns’ owner for a few months, purchasing the team from the embattled Robert Sarver.

Game 5 is on Tuesday in Denver. The series is tied at two games each.
