Sister Wives is set to return for another season later this month – but fans have slammed its renewal and claimed that there is little point in continuing the show now that Kody Brown has split from three of his four wives.

The hit TLC show, which first aired in 2010, centers on the 54-year-old and his polyamorous family.

But, in recent years, Meri, Janelle and Christine have all parted ways from Kody – leaving Robyn as his only wife.

As a result, many feel that the series has lost its initial premise as calls grow for TLC to ‘put the show out of its misery.’

TLC took to Instagram to announce the premiere date for Season 18 with a moody image of Kody and his four wives all scowling toward the camera under an overlay of broken glass.

The caption read: ‘#SisterWives returns with a new season you can’t miss on Sunday, August 20th at 10/9c.’ 

But fans were quick to rush to the comments to express their dismay over the show’s return. 

‘There are no Sister Wives left…. Just cancel the show,’ one wrote.

‘For the love of God. PUT THE SHOW OUTTA IT’S MISERY!’ another exclaimed.

A third added: ‘Why Is This Show Still Airing? There’s No More SisterWives! I Don’t Want To See The Kody/Robyn Show!’

Alongside the promo image, TLC posted a mini trailer on Twitter which also revealed the premiere date.

‘The end was just the beginning. A can’t miss season of #SisterWives premieres Sunday Aug 20 at 10/9c,’ the tweet read.

But this post too was swamped with fans slamming the show’s return. 

‘Oh god, how much more can they squeeze out of this lemon. Let it go already. These people deserve what they got. I’m embarrassed I wasted time watching their train wreck,’ one tweeted.

Another pitched the idea of having a spinoff with Kody’s ex-wives, Meri, Janelle and Christine. 

They wrote: ‘Giving Kody and Robyn, two huge narcissists, a platform to continue to spew their hatred is not a good look anymore. Dump those two and do a spin-off of the other three women living their best lives without Kotex and Goblyn.’ 

Backlash aside, the trailer did deliver on the drama promised in the tweet.

It kicks off with Christine – who was the first sister wife to walk away – declaring, ‘I left Kody because I could see he had favorites.’

Meri struggled last season after Kody had claimed he didn’t feel like they were married and echoes the sentiment in the trailer, stating, ‘I’ve heard him refer to us as friends.’ 

The most explosive part of the clip comes when Kody and Janelle sit down for a very heated discussion. 

‘You have cheated me out of my family,’ Kody says pointedly to Janelle.

‘You are now pushing me out the door,’ she responds, which sends Kody into a rage as he shouts: ‘That’s an exaggeration and a lie.’ 

‘I think you’re manipulating,’ Janelle then states, which sends Kody out the door.

‘You stay and talk,’ Janelle yells as he walks away, adding, ‘f**k you.’

TLC teased the drama for this upcoming season a few weeks ago with its first full-length trailer.

It begins with Kody having a chat with Janelle who asks, ‘Do you really want to have a plural family? Sometimes I can’t tell.’

Kody adds in confession, ‘I’m in this bad place with Janelle and Christine’s gone, don’t even know what to do with Meri.’

Meri tells Kody, ‘I don’t want you to think that I’m walking away, because, sorry, I still have hope.’ 

Kody reveals in confession, ‘In my head, I’m wondering why she still lives in Flagstaff,’ while Janelle tells Christine, ‘I’m growing, and I need something different. Like I don’t want to be married anymore,’ which stuns Christine.

Meanwhile, Meri tells Robyn, ‘There’s no question, Robyn, he’s done with me,’ while Robyn adds in confession, ‘Kody’s gonna do what Kody’s gonna do.’

Garrison Brown, one of Kody’s sons with Janelle, tells Robyn, ‘You know what, Robyn, have him. We’re all grown adults that don’t need a father figure anymore.’

Christine is catching up with Kody over dinner, as she jokes, ‘If you can’t look back with a sense of humor, what a waste.’

Kody says in confession, ‘Well, I’m not laughing. I’m not laughing here. I haven’t been laughing with her leaving.’

Janelle adds in confession, ‘This is not the happy-go-lucky Kody Brown that I used to know,’ while we see one of their fights go down.

‘What partnership do we have?’ Kody angrily asks, as Janelle responds, ‘This is not only me, Kody. Don’t you dare point your finger at me.’ 

Later, Meri tells Kody outside at a picnic table, ‘I just want to let you know I’m not gonna be around. It’s not what I want.’ 

While Kody seems stoic about the news, Robyn looks like she’s about to burst into tears.

‘I wanted to sit on a porch with my Sister Wives, with our kids and our grandkids,’ Robyn tearfully says before putting her head into her hands.

Kody even seems on the verge of breaking down in tears, stating, ‘Everything is changing,’ while Meri adds, ‘There has been a lot of, dare I say, drama.’

Janelle adds, ‘Everybody is angry,’ while Christine adds, ‘Everybody is angry, right?’

Kody claims in confession, ‘I worked so hard to do what was right, and when you lose that, well, I should just be the devil I think I am now.’

The trailer cuts to yet another fight between Kody and Janelle, who tells Kody to ‘shut your f***ing mouth and let me talk to you for a minute,’ which prompts him to get up and leave the house, and appears to be the last straw for Janelle as he storms out of the house, as the trailer comes to an end.

The dramatic season comes not long after Kody’s split from his three wives.

Christine revealed she had ‘made the difficult decision to leave’ in a statement posted to her Instagram account in November 2021.

‘After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave. We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. 

A little over a year later, Janelle revealed she and Kody had separated during a supertease clip for the special Sister Wives: One on One. 

‘I think if we both really sat down, we’d look at each other say, ‘Really?” said Janelle in the clip. ‘We’ve been separated for several months.’

Kody told host Sukanya Krishnan, ‘Yes, we are separated.’ 

He added: ‘Janelle has made it pretty clear to me that she’s enjoying her life without me.’ 

A few days later, Meri confirmed that she and Kody were also no longer together in another teaser for the One on One special. 

They released an official statement in January.

‘After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship,’ a statement posted to their Instagram accounts read. 

Meri and Kody divorced in 2014 so he could legally marry his fourth wife, Robyn, and the couple are still together.

The new series of Love Island kicked off in dramatic fashion as ten new Islanders entered the Mallorcan villa in the hope of enjoying a summer of love.

Returning just a few months after the end of the winter series, producers threw in some new twists and turns to keep the attention of viewers.

The first plot twist came just minutes into the show, as for the first time ever boys and girls entered the villa at the same time.

Five Islanders, Ella Thomas, Ruchee Gurung, Andre Furtado, Mitchel Taylor and Jess Harding arrived on the show, shortly to be joined by five more contestants who they would be coupling up with.

Those contestants were Tyrqiue Hyde, Medhi Edno, Catherine Agbaje, Molly Marsh and George Fensom.

As usual, fans reeled off a running commentary online, offering their thoughts and insights into the episode as another season began.

Some viewers drew similarities between Mitchel and last year’s contestant Luca Bish, while others reacted to Ella and Tyrique already knowing each other.

Arguably the most shocking moment of the episode occured in the final moments of the show, when host Maya Jama returned to the villa.

Maya gave them the option of ‘stick or twist’ in their current couples asking them whether they were happy or if they’d prefer to be single.

Throughout the show, Maya wowed in a total of three stunning looks as she welcomed the cast to another sun-soaked series.

Following the end of the first episode, here’s everything you need to know:

Ruchee hasn’t been single for long!

Moments into the show, fans were quick to mock newbie Ruchee after she revealed she had only been single for four months.

During her intro video the 24-year-old beautician made the revelation leaving many questioning when she found the time to sign up for the ITV2 reality show.

Racing to Twitter one cheekily asked: ‘Did she dump him before or after her application?’.

Another wrote: ‘Single 4 months means you wrote your love island application in the relationship’.

And a third said: ‘Ruchee being single for 4 months is killing me. She didn’t even give it time’. 

Someone else wrote: ‘Single for 4 months is actually too funny loooool’.

And a fifth said: ”I’ve been single for 4 months’. Applications take ten months’. 

While sixth commented: ‘Single 4 months, when did applications open?’. 

Other viewers seemed concerned asking:  ‘Single for 4 months? Is she even healed?’.

And another added: ‘I love how the girl has been single for 4 months, she knows what she wants’. 

New twist sees the boys and girls enter at the same time

Viewers admitted they were loving the new twist as for the first time ever, boys and girls entered the Mallorcan villa at the same time, and viewers revealed that they were impressed with the switch up.

The Islanders were notably confused by the change in format, as they expressed their bewilderment to each other during the opening minutes of the show.

Keen to clear things up, Maya soon arrived to let the new cast know what was going to happen.

Maya told them: ‘We’ve switched it up by letting you meet now. Anyone been flirting already? You been having a flirt? With who?’

Ella revealed that her type was ‘tall with nice teeth’, while Ruchee admitted she was looking out for ‘height, fashion sense and someone that I can bring to my family.’

Mitchell confessed he was looking for the real deal and has plans to ‘settle down, find wifey, kids and dogs etc.’

Jess controversially revealed: ‘My type is pretty boys with Turkey teeth.’ Maya admitted: ‘I’ve never heard someone say they want Turkey teeth.’

Sharing the news that they would be soon meeting their couples, Maya said: ‘I’ve got some news, none of you guys will be coupling up with each other. That decision has already been made by the public.

‘Are you ready to find out who the public have coupled you up with? Let’s go!’

Viewers rejoiced at the the change in format, admitting they hoped that producers continue to switch it up throughout the series. 

One person said: ‘Okay Love Island with the switch up.’

Perplexed viewers had no clue they could vote for new couples 

However some viewers admitted to being very confused during the first episode as they had no idea they could vote.

Fans caused a storm on social media as they complained the public was not informed to vote on the ITV2‘s show.

People took to Twitter reacting – as they claimed they had no actual opportunity to vote for the pairs.

One user said: ‘Who’s this public and when did we vote? #LoveIsland.’

Another one commented: ‘Were the public even aware they had the vote?? #LoveIsland.’

‘Am I the only one who wasn’t aware of the public vote? #LoveIsland,’ another user agreed.

Another viewer complained: ‘They’ve pulled this public vote shit again…pls WHICH PUBLIC DECIDED??? #loveisland.’

‘WHEN DID THIS PUBLIC VOTE HAPPEN #LoveIsland,’ wrote another one.

Ella admits she already knows one of the boys

Ella shocked fans as she admitted she already knew one of the boys in the villa.

Ella, 23, was coupled up with Tyrique, 24, who she said she had already met – but in an awkward twist he didn’t recognise her.

Viewers insisted that it was a good sign that an action-packed season lay ahead, as producers were already providing dramatic scenes in the first episode.

Taking to Twitter to share their excitement after the exchange, one viewer wrote: ‘We’ve met before’ yess drama alreadt lets goo.’

A second person commented: ‘Matching tattoos and two have already met?? Love Island have done their research this year.’

Another quizzed the possible motive behind it, and said: ‘Sorry watching Love Island and not poeple on here saying they’ve already met!?

‘Sorry what is ITV’s strategy on this??’

One other said: ‘Do you remember we met before’ drama before the second ad break already #LoveIsland.’ 

Hunky Mitchel Taylor is ‘the twin’ of a former Islander 

Love Island viewers were left with a sense of déjà vu as the show returned for a brand new series on Monday.

Fans branded newbie Mitchel the ‘spitting image’ of former star Luca Bish, who appeared in last year’s show, as the hunky pair struck a remarkable resemblance. 

Both men sported ripped muscles and short dark hairstyles with fans convinced the duo may in fact be related.

Taking to Twitter one said:  ‘Sorry but Mitchel is Luca 2.0’.

While another agreed stating: ‘Mitchel is Luca 2.0, they are actually twins!’.

Viewers admit they are ALREADY annoyed with a certain phrase

There is already something getting on viewers’ nerves.

As fans watched the new arrivals enter the villa and couple up, there was something in particular that was grating on them.

The Islanders quizzed each other on their ‘type’, as boys and girls entered the villa at the same time for the first time ever.

But as they got into the swing of conversation, viewers at home were begging them to stop using a certain phrase.

Fans confessed they couldn’t stand the phrase ‘tall, dark and handsome’, which was being batted around during the first episode of the show.

One person said: ‘Let’s officially retired ‘tall dark handsome’ as the type.’

A second person waded in, and said: ‘Every contestant when asked their type ‘tall, dark and hansome.’

A third said: ‘Praying no one says they’re into guys who are… ‘tall… dark and handsome…’

Another said: ‘Tall. Dark. Handsome’ It’s enough.’

One other shared a meme which said ‘shut it down’, alongside the phrase. 

The phrase is commonly used the show, as contests use it as a go-to to describe their ideal type of partner.

It famously came up during the first winter series of the show, when Paige Turley admitted that she also likes a tall, dark and handsome man.

However she was mocked by viewers, who were aware that her ex-boyfriend was Lewis Capaldi, who is not particularly known for his ‘tall, dark, handsomeness’.

Tropical birds have been axed for new series 

Fans were spitting feathers after discovering one of their favourite opening features has flown the nest, at least for the returning show’s opening episode.

The chatty pair of JustEat parrots from last year appeared to not be on the show anymore – as the delivery sponsor has now been replaced by online auction site Ebay.

But fans expressed their sadness as the cheeky duo won’t be featured on the ITV2‘s show anymore – which cheered them up with their quips and singing. 

Viewers quickly took to Twitter as they reacted to the news – unanimously agreeing they will miss the singing parrots.

One user commented: ‘The thing that’s disappointed me most about #LoveIsland so far is that the parrots aren’t back for the #JustEat ads.’

‘Petition to bring back the dancing parrots on love island adverts #LoveIsland,’ said another one.

‘Miss the parrots singing ‘can I pull you for a chat that’s where my head is at’ #Loveisland,’ a third commented.

‘JUSTICE FOR THE JUST EAT ANIMALS BRING ME BACK MY PARROTS #LoveIsland,’ another user agreed.

Another one wrote: ‘Noooo.. where are the #LoveIsland parrots?!! They made the countless ad breaks more bearable.. I liked singing along with the pair of them.’

Another one wondered the same: ‘errrrrrmmmmm where are the parrots????? where’s my bestie lloyd? what did you guys do?  #LoveIsland’

Fans shocked by brutal twist minutes before the end 

Love Island viewers were left reeling as producers delivered a brutal twist moments before the end of the first episode of the tenth series of the reality show.

The first twist of the programme saw the boys and girls entering at the same time for the first time ever and then being coupled up by the voting public.

However shortly after getting settled in their pairs, the Islanders were in for another shock as they were given the option to ditch their new couple.

Host Maya Jama entered the villa and allowed the girls not entirely happy with their partners to nominate themselves as single.

Maya said: ‘Now, I know you didn’t choose your partners because the public did that for you. Sometimes you have to follow your heart which means you have to take a risk. Ask yourself this – are you happy or could you be happier? 

‘I have the ultimate dare for you! Girls, if you’re not sure you’re with the right person, I dare you to step forward now!’ 

Fans went wild for the shocking turn of events and took to Twitter to share their delight at the new addition to the show.

Viewers were all saying the same thing online, as they praised the first episode for its series of twists and turns.

One person said: ‘OMG!!! I am looooovinggg! Love Island tonight. Love love love. The twist and turns.’

A second said: ‘Okay the first episode was good, the first twist was twisting.’

Another person wrote: ‘That was a good episode and that twist.’

One other said: ‘Get grating boys! Liked the first episode and that twist.’

Maya wows in three different looks 

Maya sent fans into a frenzy as she wows in three saucy enembles to host the brand new series.

The stunner, 28 looked incredible as she made her grand entrance by arriving to the villa on a yacht, before slipping into two more figure-hugging frocks.

She first displayed her jaw-dropping figure in a white sheer dress with a striped pattern, before slipping into a crochet dress followed by a royal blue cut-out number.

Taking to Twitter fans branded her the ‘best looking’ and said she beat every other singelton hands down. 

One said: ‘Maya Jama is literally the most stunning person!’.

With a second writing: ‘Maya Jama is absolutely STUNNING love love love her dress’.

And a third said: ‘One again Maya Jama is the best looking girl out of the lot of them’. 

Echoing the sentiment another viewer commented: ‘Maya Jama is so beautiful’ while another teased: ‘I would risk everything for Maya Jama’.

Maya’s first look featured a low-cut neckline while she added glamour with a daring red lip.

Styling her locks into loose waves, the beauty added to her look with a pair of gold hoop earrings. 

After arriving on land, Maya changed into another white dress with embroidered embellishment for her walk into the villa. 

She sizzled in the crochet dress with cut outs at her svelte waist and leaving little to the imagination.

Maya’s halterneck frock features a mesh floral embroidery that teases a hint of her jaw-dropping figure beneath.

Viewers react to the new contestants

One of the contestants has already struck a nerve with fans from the show.

As fans watched the new arrivals enter the villa and couple up, there was someone in particular that was grating at them.

At the beginning of the show, the Islanders quizzed each other on their ‘type’, as boys and girls entered the villa at the same time for the first time ever.

However, viewers at home were quick to take to Twitter to share their feelings about contestant Georgefrom Bedford.

Viewers from the show even joked about George’s luck when it come to female contestants disliking him in the villa.

One viewer tweeted ‘Jess hates George and she hasn’t even seen his tweets’.

While another quipped ‘George has been on my screen for less than 2 minutes and I already can’t stand him’.

Other viewers claimed that George is already ‘cancelled’ and said that him getting played ‘Serves him right’.

Another viewer also joked about how she would love Maya to do a shock-dumping twist on George during the first episode.

She tweeted ‘I’d love Maya to be like “Okay Medhi and George, you’re now single and you’re dumped from the island.’

Meanwhile, elsewhere on Twitter, viewers admitted their love for contestant Catherine Agbaje already and claimed they can’t wait to see more of her on the show.

One fan wrote ‘I need Catherine on my screen 24/7’.

While other viewers were quick to comment on how gorgeous the new contestant is.

Another viewer added ‘Catherine’s face card is INSANE, likeeee???????’.

The angry tweets from viewers come after Women’s Aid recently called upon the producers of Love Island to investigate the allegations of ‘abusive’ behaviour by contestant George.

After George, who is one of ten new islanders taking part in the new series of the show, has had two of his ex-girlfriends accuse him of controlling and abusive behaviour.

The women’s organisation took to Twitter on Monday to share an article about George’s former partner Ebony Keeley saying she was left feeling suicidal after their relationship.

Alongside it, they wrote: ‘We hope the producers will be taking allegations of controlling behaviour seriously, and look into them as part of their due diligence before the #LoveIsland series begins.’

An inspiring, real-life story about a couple who had a pivotal role in helping Anne Frank hide from the Nazis has received a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Dutch couple Miep and Jan Gies helped the young German diarist and her Jewish family hide during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam.

Now, their story has been re-told as a National Geographic Disney+ limited series starring British actors Bel Powley andJoe Cole as Miep and Jan Gies.  

While Anne Frank’s tragic story is world famous, epitomising the terror of Hitler’s genocidal regime, less is known about the experience of the heroic Gies while they risked their own lives by hiding the Franks.

The eight-episode series titled A Small Light, tells Anne Frank’s story from ‘the other side of the bookcase’. 

The synopsis, as per Disney+, reads: ‘Based on a true story, A Small Light follows Miep Gies, a young, carefree secretrary who hid Otto Frank and his family from the Nazis in WWII.

‘For nearly two years, Miep and her husband Jan protected the Franks and others while she held down a day job, kept her marriage intact and shouldered more responsibility than anyone could imagine.

‘While millions are familiar with Anne Frank’s diary and her family’s life in the Secret Annex, A Small Light is the lesser-known story of how an ordinary secretary showed extraordinary courage during one of the darkest moments in history.’

Anne had to go into hiding with her parents and sister when the Nazi anti-Jewish measures in the Netherlands made it too dangerous to stay in their own home. 

And, thanks to the help of Miep Gies – known as the woman who saved Anne Frank’s world famous diary – the Frank family went into hiding in the annex of a building at Prinsengracht 263, Amsterdam.

In addition to provisioning the ‘Secret Annex’ for more than two years, Miep and Jan Gies hid another Jew in their own apartment. 

The family lived there, mainly on the second and third floor. The only way to enter the hiding place was through the secret entrance.

But on August 4, 1944, the Franks’ Amsterdam hiding place was raided by the Nazis and Dutch police. Of the eight Jews in hiding, only Otto Frank returned from the Holocaust.

Shortly after Anne’s father returned to Amsterdam from Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Gies presented him with a stack of his daughter’s writings – including her diary and short stories.

Though Anne had never intended for her diary to be published, she did write in her diary that she planned to write a book about her experiences. 

And while her writings survived, Anne died of typhus fever at the age of 15. 

Filmed on location in Amsterdam and Prague, the Disney+ series – created by Joan Rater and Tony Phelan – has already achieved a 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

This is despite the first episode only being released at the start of the month, on May 1.

It also received a score of 8.2/10 on imdb.

Viewers have flocked to social media to praised the creators and directors for the well-written and informative series.

One user wrote on Twitter: ‘Nat Geo/Disney/Hulu show A small Light is such a beautiful told story. I mean we know the ending but I’m still *crying emoji*.’

Another person said: ‘A Small Light, the Miep Gies story on Disney is so good everyone should watch. So interesting to see the Anne Frank story from a different perspective outside of the annex.’

And a third wrote: ‘Highly recommend A Small Light on Disney about Miep Gies and others who helped Otto Frank and his family including of course Anne Frank.’

One more person put: ‘A small light on Disney plus is sooo good!!!’

While another said: ”This show is fantastic!’
