  • The Rock continued his time in Colorado with a shock return to the WWE
  • Later in the show, he met back up with John Cena – who welcomed him back
  • DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news

After a long absence from WWE, superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made his much awaited return to the ring on an episode of SmackDown in Denver, Colorado.

Just hours after he appeared on the Pat McAfee Show – live on the campus of the University of Colorado – The Rock showed up at the wrestling promotion where he made his name.

McAfee, who is a commentator with WWE, was in the ring with 2022 United States Champion Austin Theory when The Rock made his sudden entrance.

Johnson has been absent from the ring since October of 2019 – when he appeared on the SmackDown 20th anniversary show.

The Rock was met with massive cheers from the crowd at Ball Arena – who were then treated to a small display of his wrestling capabilities.

With a brief skirmish between The Rock and Theory, Johnson was able to bring out two of his more famous finishing moves: a spine-buster and the infamous ‘People’s Elbow’.

Then, Johnson pointed to McAfee – who had remained in the ring – and instructed him to deliver his own version of the ‘elbow’, still billed as ‘The Most Electrifying Move in All of Sports Entertainment’.

Later on in the show, The Rock stood face-to-face with one of his old WWE ‘rivals’ John Cena – who was set to appear later in the show.

The pair stared each other down before cracking smiles – with Cena saying ‘Welcome home’.

It’s the first time that Johnson wrestled in any capacity since that October 2019 appearance, which came around the time that he announced his retirement from pro wrestling.

It isn’t clear if ‘Rocky’ will be making a return to the WWE or if this was a one-off appearance because he was already in the Centennial State.

But Johnson’s time in Colorado is not done just yet. He’ll be making an appearance on College GameDay live from the University of Colorado campus in Boulder – just half an hour north of Denver.

The Rock will be appearing on the show as a celebrity ‘guest picker’ to take a crack at selecting the winners of Saturday’s slate of American college football games.

Location, Location, Location star Phil Spencer has returned to work three weeks after losing both his parents in a car accident.

The presenter, 53, announced last month that his parents David, 89, and Anne, 82, had died in a crash on their family farm in Littlebourne, near Canterbury, Kent, as they were making their way to the pub for some lunch.

Phil was seen for the first time since their passing in a video shared by his co-host Kirstie Allsopp on Tuesday, as she revealed the pair were back on set of their much-loved property show.

Kirstie began the video by explaining: ‘So we’re back at work filming on Location, Location, Location and I didn’t quite know what my next post on Instagram should be.

‘My last post was about Phil’s mum and dad and you all sent such lovely lovely messages and Phil was so grateful…’ prompting Phil to interrupt and confirm: Very grateful, and I haven’t put anything on Instagram either, but I do appreciate peoples’ lovely comments.’

Kirsty added: ‘You see, he’s English and he’s a man, he’s just done really really well so round of applause to Phil for doing that and thank you, you’ve all been so kind.’

She captioned the clip: ‘He’s back at work, and was very, very touched by all your messages, I even managed to get him to say it on insta. Bless him.’

Last week, Kirstie revealed that despite the recent heartbreak that took place at Garrington Farm, Phil’s family are still going about their lives as best they could.

She told BBC‘s Newscast podcast: ‘[Phil’s] got a lovely, lovely family and they’re very, very close and they’re all together.

‘In fact, his sister was married yesterday, which they went ahead with and today they’re all going to the pub for lunch. The same pub that his parents were on the way to when they died.

‘He’s very stoical and pragmatic, and he feels very strongly that it was the right thing that his parents went together.’

Flowers have been left at the remote spot Phil’s parents who both died after their car careened over a bridge and landed upside down in a river.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics and Phil’s brother Robert, who fought to save his parents’ lives by cutting their seatbelts using a penknife and pulling them from the river, the elderly couple were unable to be revived.

Anne, who was given clearance to drive after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, is understood to have been behind the wheel at the time.

Her husband was in the front passenger seat and a live-in carer – an agency nurse – was in the back seat and managed to scramble out of the car via a window and summon help.

Despite the devastating news, Phil said in the Instagram post announcing his parents’ death that he and his whole family are glad they were with each other at the end.

He wrote: ‘Very sadly both of my amazing parents died on Friday.

‘As a family we are all trying to hold onto the fact Mum and Dad went together and that neither will ever have to mourn the loss of the other one. Which is a blessing in itself.

‘Although they were both on extremely good form in the days before (hence the sudden idea to go out to lunch), Mum’s Parkinson’s and Dad’s Dementia had been worsening and the long term future was set to be a challenge.

‘So much so that Mum said to me only a week ago that she had resigned to thinking ‘now it looks like we will probably go together’. And so they did.

‘That was what God had planned for them – and it was a good plan.’

David and Anne met at a New Year’s Eve party in the early 1960s, around the time he ended a short career in finance and instead bought Lower Garrington Farm.

The couple’s daughter, Helen, described it as a ‘step into the unknown’ as she told how David showed Anne the farmhouse before asking her to marry him.

The happy couple then married at Canterbury Cathedral on November 4, 1964, before raising their children alongside running the new family business.

Robert told KentOnline: ‘It was a mixed farm back then with a bit of everything going on, so Dad had very little downtime and was grateful for all the help he got from fellow farmers when he was starting out.’

He explained how David’s passion was growing hops, and was sad to give it up in the 1990s when it was no longer financially viable.

The father-of-four had studied engineering at Loughborough University, which came in handy for repairing machinery and buildings around the farm.

Robert added: ‘They gave us an idyllic life as kids growing up on the farm. They would have never left the farmhouse, which will always be the hub of the family.’

Anne was a lover of horseriding and for many years was a member of the East Kent Hunt and a volunteer for the Cobbes Meadow Riding for the Disabled Group at Chartham.

A trustee for the charity told how Anne was a ‘hugely popular instructor’ amongst the children they helped, and she was ‘always cheerful and smiling’.

David’s best friend, Stephen Twyman, had known the 89-year-old since childhood and said he was a ‘lovely man, quiet and considerate.’

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, 81, is expected to return to Washington, D.C., Tuesday as the Senate reconvenes after a 40-day recess hiatus. McConnell's health is under increasing scrutiny following his second public freeze-up in recent weeks during a press conference in Kentucky where he didn't respond for 30 seconds.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, 81, is expected to return to Washington, D.C., Tuesday as the Senate reconvenes after a 40-day recess hiatus. McConnell’s health is under increasing scrutiny following his second public freeze-up in recent weeks during a press conference in Kentucky where he didn’t respond for 30 seconds.

The episode mirrored the senator's first freezing event that occurred at a July press conference in the Capitol. It also comes just months after McConnell suffered a concussion and broken rib when he tripped and hit his head at the D.C. Waldorf Astoria and was admitted to hospital for treatment. His office said last week that the minority leader was just feeling 'lightheaded' and assured he would consult a doctor as a precautionary measure. Capitol Physician Dr. Brian Monahan cleared McConnell to continue working, saying the episode could be attributed to dehydration and that it's normal to experience lightheadedness during concussion recovery.

Senators will reconvene at 3pm today for the first time since the end of July. It is customary that the leader would make remarks on the Senate floor at that time, but it is unclear if McConnell plans to do so or if he will address his recent health issues. The Senate has a busy few weeks ahead as government funding is set to run out by Oct. 1. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has stated his plan to move forward a series of spending bills over the next several weeks. But the House of Representatives is not set to return to D.C. until next Tuesday, not leaving much time to get a deal done and starve off a government shutdown.

A spokesperson for Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., did not confirm that a call took place between the senators, but said they were aware of reports that the two spoke. McConnell told Sen. The GOP senators, known as the 'Three Johns,' are also next in line to replace the minority leader in the event that he steps down or is unfit to serve. The very swift all-clear comes as reports emerge that a handful of Republican senators are discussing holding a meeting amid McConnell's declining health. It does not appear that party leadership is involved in these alleged talks. At least a dozen GOP offices said when reached by DailyMail.com last week that they are not aware of any meetings on the topic.

The latest episode has led to renewed calls for term limits in the House and Senate – even from those within the walls of Congress. GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley called the Senate the 'most privileged nursing home in the country' after McConnell's recent episode. 'What I will say is, right now, the Senate is the most privileged nursing home in the country,' she said last week. 'I mean, Mitch McConnell has done some great things and he deserves credit. But you have to know when to leave.' Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., said the limits would help restore 'human decency' for elderly politicians like McConnell and Democratic California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, 90, who is also suffering public health scares.

Frankie & Benny’s and Wagamama owner TRG returns to profit

  • The Restaurant Group made a £2.3m pre-tax profit for the half-year to 2 July
  • Wagamama, Chiquito and Frankie & Benny’s are operated by the business
  • Since August 2019, the firm’s shares have slumped by approximately 72%

Frankie & Benny’s parent company has swung back to a first-half profit despite challenging conditions in the hospitality sector.

The Restaurant Group, which also operates Wagamama and Chiquito, declared a £2.3million statutory pre-tax profit for the six months ending 2 July, compared to a £28.5million loss in the same period last year.

Profitability was supported by significantly lower impairment charges and a bumper trading performance boosting turnover by 10 per cent to £467.4million.

Its concessions business saw the largest increase in sales, with like-for-like growth of 28 per cent thanks to a continued rebound in air travel following the absence of pandemic-related restrictions.

Demand at the start of 2022 was impacted by the Omicron variant’s emergence discouraging many Britons from commuting to work or visiting hospitality venues.

TRG also recorded healthy first-half trade at its pubs and Wagamama outlets, although like-for-like revenue declined in its leisure division, which it partly blamed on consumer cost-of-living pressures.

However, all the firm’s segments achieved turnover growth in the eight weeks to 27 August, with concessions sales jumping by a third.

TRG noted Wagamama benefited from cooler summer weather, while popular cinema releases like Barbie and Oppenheimer buoyed the leisure business.

Following the result, bosses at the London-listed company have made a ‘moderate increase’ to their expectations on adjusted core profits.

Andy Hornby, chief executive of TRG, said: ‘We are encouraged by the significant progress made in the first eight months of the year, delivering strong LFL sales growth despite the consumer backdrop.’

He added: ‘We are making excellent progress on our medium-term plan, and the board continues to actively explore strategic options to further accelerate margin accretion and deleveraging.’

TRG said annualised cost savings of £5million had been attained, while the planned reduction in its leisure estate portfolio was proceeding ahead of schedule.

From the next fiscal year, the group plans to launch eight to ten new Wagamama establishments, as well as up to three ‘high-quality’ pubs.

The Restaurant Group shares were 1.8 per cent down at 42.9p on early Wednesday afternoon, meaning they have slumped by approximately 72 per cent since Hornby took over in August 2019.

Hornby has faced considerable backlash from some investors for the company’s long-term share price weakness and its four consecutive annual losses.

In March, 46 per cent of shareholders – including activists Oasis Management and Irenic Capital – voted against the ex-HBOS chief executive’s proposed £792,000 pay package.

Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales was spotted pulling Spain’s World Cup-winning goal-scorer Olga Carmona into an embrace just hours after he was forced to apologise for kissing a Spanish footballer on the mouth.

Rubiales, 45, was spotted hugging the top-flight defender as La Roja landed back in Madrid on Monday night, a day after Spain’s women’s team took the World Cup home for the first time ever.

Carmona, 23, only learned of her father’s death after the final on Sunday.

While he passed away last Friday, her family reportedly decided not to tell her so that she could wholly focus on the match.

Rubiales’ and Carmona’s embrace comes after the Spanish FA boss was forced to apologise for kissing player Jenni Hermoso following his country’s Women’s World Cup final win over England in Australia.

The football chief had faced a wave of criticism and resignation calls after planting the unsolicited kiss on Jenni’s lips following the match.

In a video address published after leading politicians said he should quit or apologise, Rubiales admitted he had made a mistake.

He started the video by saying the Spanish team had achieved an ‘historic feat’ and it was one of the ‘happiest’ days for Spanish football.

But he added: ‘There is also something I regret and it’s over something that happened between a female player and myself who enjoy a magnificent relationship the same as I have with other women players.

‘I’ve no doubt made a mistake and I have to admit it.’

He continued: ‘At a moment of maximum excitement, without any bad intention or bad faith, what happened happened in a very spontaneous manner, I repeat without bad faith on either side.

‘We didn’t understand really what occurred afterwards because we saw it as something normal and natural but it has caused a controversy in some sectors and some people appear to have been upset and therefore I have to apologise.

‘Moreover I have to learn from this and understand that when someone presides an institution as important as the Spanish FA he has to take more care in events like ceremonies.’

Defending his initial reaction in the wake of the controversy, when he branded the people who had criticised the kiss as ‘idiots’, and admitting he was saddened because it had tainted the historic Spanish victory, he continued: ‘Within the Spanish FA no-one lent the slightest importance to this but outside it seems they have.

‘I also want to apologise to those people because if people have been affected outside, they will no doubt have their reasons.’

Spanish FA chief Luis Rubiales apologises for kissing World Cup winner on the lips after he faced calls to resign over unwanted embrace

Rubiales made his public apology as he faced resignation calls over his controversial post-Women’s World Cup celebrations which included giving player Jenni Hermoso an unwanted kiss on the lips.

The 45-year-old had been accused of committing ‘sexual violence’ overnight by Spain’s acting Equality Minister Irene Montero for the unsolicited smacker following the country’s 1-0 win against England.

He initially laughed it off as a ‘peck on the lips between two friends celebrating something’ even though 33-year-old Jenni admitted she hadn’t liked it in a post-match live online stream from the dressing room.

Footage subsequently emerged of Rubiales grabbing his crotch and appearing to make an obscene gesture during his wild celebrations in the stands beside Spain’s Queen Letizia and her 16-year-old daughter.

This morning Anna Caula, General Secretary of Sport for the regional Catalan government, said he should resign.

She called the kiss he planted on Jenni Hermoso’s lips as a ‘harsh aggression’ and added: ‘We must be aware there are things that are not a price that we should have to pay.

‘In football things are still not equal, we still have a lot of work to do.

‘It is up to a president of the Spanish FA to be scrupulous in the way he behaves himself

‘The explanation for this kiss and the subsequent declarations that have been made justifying it means us normalising attitudes that are not acceptable.’

Marta Lois, parliamentary spokesperson for Spanish left-wing coalition party Sumar, said: ‘This type of sexist behaviour towards the Spanish player Jennifer Hermoso is intolerable.

‘Mr Rubiales must resign. It’s shocking.’

Colleague Ernest Urtasum insisted Rubiales should resign, saying: ‘The image he has shown the world is one of repugnant machoism. This cannot go unpunished.’

Spanish politician Pablo Echenique, a member of hard-left wing party Podemos, was among those who picked up on Rubiales’ crotch grab while the controversy surrounding his kiss was still raging.

He tweeted along video footage of the alleged obscene gesture: ‘As well as giving Jenni Hermoso a non-consensual kiss on the lips while he grabbed her head, an act that could represent the commission of a crime, Rubiales also celebrated Spain’s victory grabbing his testicles next to the queen and her daughter.’

He also posted a photo of the Spanish FA president planting a sloppy kiss on the left cheek of goalscorer Olga Carmona, who learnt after the match her father had died, and wrote on his Twitter feed: ‘Here he is too with Olga Carmona.

‘It seems this guy was drooling over and stalking the whole team.’

Rubiales has yet to comment on the claims he grabbed his private parts in front of Spain’s leading female royals.

He was filmed in the dressing room after yesterday’s World Cup final, announcing a trip to Ibiza for Spain’s winning women as a prize before joking in front of Jenni Hermoso and her teammates: ‘In Ibiza we’ll be celebrating Jenni and Luis Rubiales’ wedding.

Hermoso admitted she hadn’t liked the kiss in a live online stream to fans from the dressing room.

In subsequent comments facilitated by Spain’s FA, the Madrid-born footballer who currently plays for Mexican side Pachuca, referred to the moment as a ‘mutually and totally spontaneous gesture’ and insisted: ‘The president and I have a great relationship.’

The man who was arrested for attempting to charge Donald Trump‘s motorcade in Miami is now in Washington, D.C. to protest outside the courthouse where the ex-President is expected to be arraigned on Thursday afternoon.

Domenic Santana, 61, showed up in the nation’s capital this week wearing a white and black striped prisoner outfit with a posterboard of a photoshopped mugshot of a bald Trump in an orange prison jumpsuit.

‘You do the crime you pay the time. Your time is up,’ the poster reads.

The other side is an orange background with black block letters reading: ‘Lock Him Up.’

Trump is expected to be arraigned at the E. Barrett Prettyman Courthouse after Special Counsel Jack Smith announced a grand jury’s four charges against the ex-President related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack.

Santana was arrested earlier this year for running in front of Trump’s motorcade as he left court from his second indictment for mishandling classified documents.

Video of the incident this summer shows Santana standing in front of Trump’s motorcade in his striped outfit and holding up his protest sign before being tackled out of the street by law enforcement and what appeared to be a suited member of the ex-President’s Secret Service detail.

‘They had to do their job. They didn’t know if I was armed. The police did a great job,’ Santana said. ‘Yeah, it was worth it – look, look, I’m getting the message out – he shoulda been locked up a long time ago.’

Trump is summoned to appear for his third incident in court on Thursday afternoon – but it’s still not clear if the ex-President will show up in D.C.

Special Counsel Smith announced the four new charges on Tuesday following an investigation into Trump’s involvement in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot and the efforts to stop Congress from certifying the 2020 election.

A grand jury voted to indict Trump on conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy against citizens’ rights, obstruction and attempted obstruction of an official proceeding and witness tampering.

Law enforcement erected barriers around the courthouse on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday night in preparation for Trump’s appearance.

Trump’s schedule for the day has remained fluid and it’s still unclear if he will appear in-person for the arraignment or potentially hold a post-arraignment press conference. If he does show, the ex-President will be booked and processed by U.S. Marshals and fingerprinted

If he does appear, Trump is likely to plead not guilty to all four felony charges. His schedule for the day remains fluid, while his team didn’t rule out the possibility of a press conference following the arraignment on Thursday.

Trump is expected to be met with a barrage of camera, supporters and even protesters as he is booked and processed by the U.S. Marshals Service. He will be fingerprinted but no mugshot will be taken.

The arraignment is being overseen by Biden-appointed Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya – a different judge will handle the criminal trial.

Trump’s top 2024 competitor Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said after news broke of the indictment that Americans should have the legal ability to move their cases out of D.C.’s jurisdiction because ‘swamp mentality’ could affect jurors.

The ex-President agrees, posting to his Truth Social on Tuesday night that it’s ‘impossible’ that he will be given a fair trial in D.C.

‘The latest Fake ‘case’ brought by Crooked Joe Biden & Deranged Jack Smith will hopefully be moved to an impartial Venue, such as the politically unbiased nearby State of West Virginia!’ he wrote on his social media platform. ‘IMPOSSIBLE to get a fair trial in Washington, D.C., which is over 95% anti-Trump, & for which I have called for a Federal TAKEOVER in order to bring our Capital back to Greatness.’

He added: ‘It is now a high crime embarrassment to our Nation and, indeed, the World. This Indictment is all about Election Interference!!!’

U.S. Capitol Police, the Metropolitan Police Department, Park Police, Marshals Service and the Federal Protective Service are all on high-alert for the indictment and prepared for the arraignment for the last few weeks.

‘We’re prepared for tomorrow,’ U.S. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger told reporters Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday there was a false report of an active shooter on Capitol Hill, leading Senate buildings to shelter in place during the scare.

The different law enforcement agencies held several calls Wednesday to review plans for the day.

The indictments and growing legal woes facing Trump are only bolstering his support among Republican voters.

In March, before his first indictment, Trump was earning 43 percent of the GOP primary vote, according to a RealClearPolitics average. A day after he was charged in the case involving hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels, his support jumped to 50 percent in the same tracking.

A few months later in early June, Trump was indicted for a second time on 37 charges related to mishandling classified documents he was privy to while President. His polling average jumped again to 55 percent.

Polling on RealClearPolitics only tracks until Monday, August 1 – a day before the third and latest indictment – but it still shows Trump far in the lead against his 14 GOP challengers.

Bellway to build fewer homes

Bellway has warned it will build fewer homes in the current fiscal year as the housebuilder faces further margin pressures amid a slowing housing market.

The group built 10,945 homes in the fiscal year ended 31 July, slightly down from the guidance of 11,000 units.

Bellway said it expected its underlying operating margin for its last financial year to be around 16 per cent, down from 18.5 per cent in the year-ago period, hurt by high build costs and overhead inflation.

‘The backdrop of macroeconomic uncertainty and cost of living pressures affected consumer demand during the year and, given affordability remains constrained by higher mortgage interest rates, underlying trading conditions are likely to remain challenging in the near term,’ Bellway chief executive Jason Honeyman said.

Italian lenders hit with windfall tax: Shock move sends bank shares tumbling

Shares in Italy’s largest banks slumped after the country’s government slapped a surprise windfall tax on the industry.

US banks, meanwhile, were also knocked by a series of downgrades from Moody’s.

The credit rating agency warned the sector could find its profits under pressure from an economic slowdown and the effects of higher interest rates.

TUI returns to profit

TUI has posted its first post-pandemic quarterly profit after the tour group cashed in on a rebound in travel demand, with its boss pledging to grow profitability ‘significantly’ going forward.

The tour group posted underlying earnings before interest and tax of €169million (£145.2million) for the quarter, as well as €5.3billion in revenue.

‘We are investing today to continue to significantly grow profitably in the future,’ said TUI chief executive Sebastian Ebel.

Matt Doran returns to Weekend Sunrise from personal leave in good spirits – after vanishing while covering Hunter Valley bus crash tragedy

Matt Doran returned from personal leave to host Weekend Sunrise on Sunday, almost two weeks after vanishing while reporting on the Singleton bus crash

The veteran crime reporter, 40, was in good spirits as he co-hosted the breakfast show with Monique Wright, 50.

The Melbourne native cut a dashing figure in a tailored suit and slicked-back hair, looking refreshed and ready to tackle the day’s news stories.

Neither Matt or Monique commented on his Hunter Valley vanishing act or subsequent personal leave during Sunday’s show.

Doran took unscheduled personal leave last week after sparking a frantic police search when he failed to turn up to work the Tuesday prior.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Doran was ‘at home prioritising his health’ after he vanished while on assignment in the Hunter Valley, was was temporarily replaced by newsman Michael Usher on Weekend Sunrise.

The high-profile Sydney journalist was reported as missing after he didn’t show up for his 5.30am shift to cover the Hunter Valley wedding bus crash live from the area.

After a desperate police search, including at his Singleton hotel, officers found the star reporter a short time later in a local café.

Earlier, locals had seen Doran driving away from the home of newly married couple Mitchell Gaffney and Maddy Edsell, whose wedding was at the centre of the tragedy.

One eyewitness remembers the surprising way he spoke to members of the Singleton Roosters football team, for whom several wedding guests played.

‘He seemed distracted when he was interviewing. He didn’t want to be there,’ the source told Daily Mail Australia.

When the star reporter failed to answer calls, texts and emails ahead of his scheduled appearance on Sunrise, a producer went to find him at his Singleton hotel, only for knocks on his door to go unanswered.

Insiders have suggested several factors could have contributed to his troubling behaviour, with one stating Doran may have struggled with the confronting nature of the wedding bus crash tragedy.

‘It’s sexier than ever!’ Love Island twist RETURNS leading to couple getting hot and heavy in raciest scenes yet

The Love Island villa is set to get sexier than ever on Monday as the Hideaway returns to screens – leaving one couple getting hot and heavy.

Show favourite Catherine receives a text reading: ‘Islanders, The Hideaway Retreat is open tonight. Please choose a lucky couple to spend the night together. #ItsGivingBaecation #TimeToPlay’.

The new room, with neon lights and a pool included, will play host to the couple who get under the sheets in the raciest scenes of the series so far.

Insiders told The Sun: ‘The Hideaway will open for the first time this series and the couple who win the vote by the other islanders will be let loose in the all-new room.

‘It’s sexier than ever this year – as well as the toys in the drawer under the bed, there’s a Bali-style plunge pool and a swing in the garden.’

The Hideway has been the backdrop of some of the show’s most intimate moments, including the shocking scene in which then-Miss GB Zara Holland got steamy with Alex Bowen, leading to her being dethroned while on the show.

Elsewhere on Monday’s episode, after a shock daytime recoupling and the departure of two beloved Islanders the previous evening, temperatures continue to soar.

Islanders will be put through their paces in a dramatic challenge that puts relationships to the test.

As they relax by the pool, Molly receives a text informing them of the challenge.

Announcing the news, Molly reads out: ‘Ahoy Islanders, it’s time to sea if you and your partner can keep your heads above water in today’s challenge Situationships #ShipHappens #DontRockTheBoat’.

With friendship couple Mitch and Leah hosting, their fellow Islanders sit back to back in miniature boats.

After every question, they must try to correctly match their partners’ answers to progress to the finish line.

If they do not match their answers on the chalkboards, the hosts get to drench them with buckets of water. The couple who match the most answers first will win.

During the challenge Islanders are asked questions including, ‘Which couple are playing the biggest game?’, favourite sex positions, and ‘Which Love Islander is the least trustworthy?’

Some home truths are revealed, including Sammy and Mitch finding their names in chalk on more than one occasion.

Elsewhere in the episode, the challenge leaves Whitney and Mehdi with more questions than answers.

While Whitney spills the tea with Catherine, Mehdi approaches Whitney and invites her to the terrace.

While on the terrace Whitney says: ‘So, why have you invited me here today? Is there something you want to tell me?’

It comes after viewers were quick to side with Whitney after Mehdi slammed her for making Jess cry during Thursday evening’s episode.
