Stars are rarely seen in New York, but many of them showed up for The US Open Final on Sunday between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, as Nicole Kidman, Justin Timberlake and Leo Di Caprio were all spotted at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens. 

Timberlake – one of the world’s best-selling music artists, with sales of over 88million records – looked dapper in a green and white checkered shirt and khaki pants while sitting relatively close to the court. He also wore a watch with a brown leather strap and golden frame to complete his look. 

Kidman, on the other hand, sat next to her husband and singer Keith Urban, in a box while wearing a striped button-down shirt of her own over a beige top. The couple, who have two children, looked very much in love as they held hands while watching what was happening on the court. 

Urban even got close to his wife’s ear to tell her something secretive in a snap for the cameras while showing off a light purple button-down. 

Also sitting in a box high-up was American model Emily Ratajkowski, who braved a grey dress in rainy New York weather while also donning black sunglasses and high boots 

DiCaprio, like Ratajkowki, wore black shades to compliment his all-black attire for Sunday’s game. The 48-year-old, who’s believed to have settled down with a 25-year-old Italian model, sported a silver chain with a black baseball cap to complete his fit. 

Jerry Seinfeld – America’s favorite comedian – was also spotted in the stands with his wife of 24 years, Jessica. The pair chatted back in for during the match.

Kylie Jenner showed off her new romance with actor Timothee Chalamet as she wore jeans with a black t-shirt and sunglasses. The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan also wore her hair short – an unusual sighting – although it remains to be confirmed if the look was just for Sunday’s game. 

Chalamet dressed up similarly to his girlfriend’s attire, wearing a black cap, hoodie and t-shirt. 

Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, who was spotted in Alabama a day earlier to root for the Texas Longhorns’ football team, looked effortlessly chic in an all-white shirt and blazer. He watched Djokovic win in straight sets along with his wife, Camilla Alves. 

Martha Stewart was also among the crowd, wearing what seemed to be an oversized brown button down with white stripes. 

American actor James Marsden, who’s known for his roles as Cyclops in ‘X-Men’ and Prince Edward in Enchanted, was seen high up from a private box, sporting a beige long-sleeve shirt with white pants and a square-shaped watch. 

Former American tennis player Billie Jean King, who wore 39 Grand Slam titles in her career (1968-1990), was also shown by the cameras, as she played in integral role in shaping equality for women in tennis. This year, the US Open is celebrating 50 years of equal pay.

American boxer Jake Paul was also spotted in attendance for Sunday’s game with his mother, Pamela. He wore a light blue NFL-looking shirt with silver earing and chain just weeks after defeating Nate Diaz. 

US actress Eva Longoria also made sure to be there for the final of the biggest tennis tournament in America, wearing a Casa Del Sol cap and a black top while showing off her brown curls and round earrings in the stands. 

American actress Molly Ringwald was seen taking her phone out to take picture and videos of Sunday’s final, which will be one for the books as Djokovic won his fourth US Open title. 

The Serb won his latest Grand Slam title in front of other household names, such as American rapper Lil Wayne and actors John Hamm and Emma Roberts.

Former mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg was also there, as well as musician Sting, model Christie Brinkley, former NHL player Henrik Lundqvist and Croatian-Canadian businessman Robert Herjavec.

First-look images for the upcoming series Expats starring Nicole Kidman were released by Prime Video on Thursday. 

The six-part limited drama series – based on the internationally best-selling novel The Expatriates, by Janice Y. K. Lee. and set in Hong Kong, – will premiere in early 2024 on the streaming site. 

The Lulu Wang-directed series stars Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning actor Nicole, 56, Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo, Brian Tee and Jack Huston.

Set against the vibrant and tumultuous tapestry of 2014 Hong Kong, Expats centers on three American women – Margaret (Nicole), Hilary (Sarayu), and Mercy (Ji-young Yoo) – whose lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy. 

First look images show Nicole’s character Margaret looking tense as she read her phone in the bath before husband Clarke (Brian Tee) looks upset lying on her lap during a car ride.

Expats will have the world premiere screening of its feature-length penultimate episode at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8.

The series interrogates privilege and explores what happens when the line between victimhood and culpability becomes blurred. 

Brian Tee, who plays Margaret’s husband Clarke and Jack Huston, who plays Hilary’s husband David also star in the series.

Lulu Wang serves as a creator, director and writer for Expats. Wang also executive produces the series with Daniele Melia for Local Time. 

Nicole Kidman serves as an executive producer for the series with Per Saari for Blossom Films, along with Alice Bell, who was the first writer onboarded to the series.

Nicole officially wrapped filming her new Amazon series The Expats last December.

The Australian star announced the news via Instagram, sharing a photo of herself jumping for joy during a photo shoot with director Lulu and co-star Brian. 

‘That’s a wrap on #Expats! So lucky to work with such a darling and inspired director @ThumbeLulu and alongside a brilliant cast & crew, including my on-screen husband @Brian_Tee,’ Nicole gushed.

‘Thank you everyone! Excited for you to see what we have created,’ she added. 

The Expats is based on Janice Y.K. Lee’s novel The Expatriates, and follows the vibrant and extravagant lives of Hong Kong’s wealthy expat community.

The show was produced in Hong Kong, a decision that has sparked some backlash given the country’s rapidly declining political situation.

In September last year, exiled Hong Kong MP Ted Hui slammed the Australian actress as ‘insensitive’ and implored her to speak with his group on political issues in the troubled region.   

Hui is part of a collective of MPs who are lobbying for strict measures to be taken against the Hong Kong government by international interests. 

Hui, who fled Hong Kong and now lives in Australia, told The Sydney Morning Herald at the time: ‘What does she have to say to my comrades thrown [in] jail?

‘How insensitive can she be? A lot of people have to flee from Hong Kong, and probably they won’t be able to go back home. But she can travel freely from Australia to Hong Kong, and continue her work and go shopping as if nothing has happened.’  

Hui added: ‘It’s an endorsement of the Hong Kong situation that says it’s okay, people can live on. It is not. People are in pain or in despair.’

It came after Nicole sparked criticism for gaining a government exception to side-step quarantine rules to film The Expats.

In August 2021, Nicole flew from Sydney to Hong Kong via private jet ahead of filming. 

She stirred controversy two days later after photos surfaced of Kidman shopping at a designer boutique in the city’s Central district with her bodyguard. 

At the time, Hong Kong mandated that international travellers must complete at least seven days of quarantine upon arrival, followed by ‘self-monitoring’.  

However, The Hong Kong government confirmed it waived these tough quarantine rules for Kidman. 

In a statement to HK01, Hong Kong’s Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said that Kidman received an exemption from mandatory quarantine ‘to carry out designated professional work’.
