Brazen thieves have been caught on video running from Footlocker, Apple and Lululemon with arms full of merchandise as Philadelphia police struggle to grab the looters.

Videos shared on social media shows police officers attempting to grab lotters, some of who are wearing Halloween masks, as they run from a Lululemon store carrying goods.

Numerous bikes and piles of merchandise can be seen piled up on the sidewalk outside the clothing store on Walnut Street in the heart of the city.

ABC reported that police had detained individuals ranged from teenagers to young adults, and recovered one weapon from the scene.

It has also been reported that there have been numerous shots fired during the looting in the downtown area.

Thieves also descended on a nearby Foot Locker store and Apple Store, with CBS News reporting that the security guard at the footwear store was assaulted.

In another video of the store being ransacked, a large number of thieves can be seen rifling through the store.

Footage from the Apple store shows the aftermath of the looting, with iPhones and other electronic goods seemingly ripped from their display stands.

What appears to be staff members can be seen standing around looking bemused.

Fox News reporter Steve Keeley also shared footage showing the fallout of the looting.

Officers can be seen placing handcuffs on one man, as they guard the exterior of the store.

Numerous people can be heard shouting in the background as he is led to the rear of a police van.

Another shot of looters outside the Lululemon store shows a large number of thieves making their escape.

Numerous officers quickly arrive on the scene and can be seen pinning several men down.

A police officer also told NBC Philadelphia that over 100 juveniles had looted the Lululemon store.

CBS3 said that multiple police commanders confirmed to them that the looting had no connection to earlier BLM demonstrations.

Protests had started round the city earlier in the day over the dismissal of charges against police officer Eddie Irizarry who was involved in a fatal shooting.

Hugh E. Dillon also shared a video showing the police response to his social media page.

Dillon wrote: ‘Stay out of center city: Kids looted Apple Store , Lululemon and Chestnut street I hear footlocker has been broken into.

‘The police are doing an incredible effort on bikes and in cars corralling the kids blocked by Block. They are pulling cars over a lot of kids are in cars.

‘They stop and a whole bunch of them get out and then they start trying to break in the stores. But the police are on top of it.’

Security guard at a nearby Wendy’s, Hakeem Russel told NBC that the store next to the fast food restaurant had been broken into, with a guard assaulted.

Russel told the outlet: ‘A couple a kids decided they wanted to take full advantage of the unjust shooting that’s happened.

‘It’s definitely been unrest around here since the verdict.’

Another video shows what appears to be a liquor store in the city, with one woman filming the scene shouting: ‘Everybody must eat, everybody must eat.’

Officers have now blocked off several streets in the area with crime scene tape due to the robberies.

ABC reported that police had detained individuals ranged from teenagers to young adults, and recovered one weapon.

DailyMail.com has approached the Philadelphia Police Department for comment on the situation.

Just three weeks ago, the Philadelphia Police Commissioner resigned from her post as the Democratic run city dealt with a wave of homicides and lawlessness.

Danielle Outlaw, 48, who has been Philly’s top cop since February 2020, officially left the department on September 22.

Outlaw’s new role will be the Deputy Chief Security Officer at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where she will oversee the airports, bridges, tunnels and other transportation infrastructure in the New York City area.

Before she took office, Philadelphia saw less than 400 homicides each year since 2007. Both 2021 and 2022 have seen more than 500 homicides across the city.

Latest figures, which are up until last Sunday, show how there has been 302 homicides in the city so far this year.

There has also been 402 reported rapes, 58,759 cases of property crime, 3,701 cases of aggravated assaults and 1,314 shooting victims.

Danny Masterson ‘s stepfather has claimed his kids lied to help their half-brother over the course of his high-profile rape trial – and potentially perjured themselves in the process.

In letters asking for leniency for their older brother, Jordan and Alanna Masterson painted their father, Joe Reaiche, as deadbeat and convicted rapist Danny as a parental surrogate.

In an interview this week, Reaiche – a former pro rugby league player-turned Scientologist who met Masterson’s mom in the 80s – said he is considering suing his kids over the letters, and further accused the Clearwater Church of ‘brainwashing’.

Delivered to The Daily Beast, the assertions were eerily reminiscent to statements provided by Reaiche to DailyMail.com nearly a decade ago – in which he claimed all of his Scientologist kids disowned him after he was excommunicated in 2005.

In letters to LA Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo, 36-year-old Jordan and Walking Dead star Alanna, 35, both wrote their father left them ‘for all intents and purposes’ when they were under age 10, forcing Masterson, then 16, to step up.

‘My father left for all intents and purposes when I was six years old,’ Jordan, a star on the sitcom Last Man Standing – wrote in one of several letters pleading for clemency for the That ’70s Show actor after his conviction for raping two of the women in the early 2000s. ‘My little sister was four.’

Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Debra Jo Rupp, and Kurtwood Smith were among other who went up to bat for the former funnyman – though their accounts failed to sway Olmedo, who on Thursday hit Masterson with a 30-year-to-life sentence.

Jordan wrote of his and his siblings’ life with mom Carol post-1995: ‘We were raised by a single mother who worked her entire life to provide her children with a life that we could be proud of.

‘She preached hard work and integrity, respect for self and others, kindness and patience,’ he continued.

‘No one embodies those qualities more than my brother Danny.’

The narrative, unveiled by reporter Tony Ortega following Masterson’s sentencing Friday, proceeded to paint a picture of a placid household during the period between the divorce and Joe’s banishment from Scientology in 2005 – during which the rising actor supposedly did the duties their father had forsaken.

‘When my father left, my brother stepped into a sort of pseudo father figure role for my little sister and me, even though he was only sixteen himself at the time.

‘Providing not only money when times were lean (which there were plenty), but wisdom and guidance,’ he wrote.

‘He set an example for us about what it was to be loving, professional and respectful. Speaking as a young man without a father, having my big brother as a lodestar was a godsend.

Taking me to baseball practice, picking me up from school, introducing me to films and music and art… While a young boy’s father can’t be replaced, I would say, in my experience, a great older brother comes really close.

‘I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my brother.’

Billing herself as Masterson’s ‘only sister and youngest sibling,’ Alana’s correspondence provided a starkly similar impression – one that dad Joe vehemently challenged on Friday.

‘My brother is facing a lengthy sentence, therefor I wanted to give you some insight into the man that shaped me into the person I am today,’ it began.

‘Danny is my best friend and helped raise me when my father left us.

‘My mom was alone providing for all of us and Danny stepped in to shoulder that burden. He helped all of us financially, but also with the daily happenings of his younger siblings.’

Citing activities like his attending of her ‘many’ ballet recitals and bringing her to sleepovers during their upbringing in LA, she also claimed the actor helped her when she was attending school at the New York Film Academy in the early 2000s – during which time she lived in his New York apartment.

She also brought up Masterson’s relationship with his nine-year-old daughter with model Bijou Phillips, Fianna, who Alanna called ‘best friends.’

‘He’s the best father and husband I know,’ Alanna insisted. ‘He’s our family’s true North Star… I hope you take into consideration all of this information in regards to your sentencing.’

In the bombshell interview Friday, Joe branded both of his kids’ accounts – which came alongside other fawning yarns from fellow That 70s Show alums such as Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and more – as decidedly false.

‘My son and daughter have very short memories about their dad,’ Reaiche, now living in Florida, told The Beast – before pointing out several inconsistencies he claimed proved his point.

‘Carol filed for divorce in 1995 in Los Angeles. Jordan was born in 1986. He was 9, not 6. There’s the first incorrect thing.’

Much more glaring, though, the father said, was the contention by Jordan and Alanna that suggested he had abandoned his children – a sentiment he said was erroneously implanted in their heads by the Church of Scientology.

‘They make it sound like I walked out and abandoned them, and that Danny was the hero,’ Joe recounted of the period between the divorce and his being branded a ‘suppressive person’ by the Church in 2005.

Contrary to his kids’ claims, he said during that ten year stretch – during which Masterson hit it big by landing his role in the seminal sitcom – he was a constant presence in all four of his kids’ lives, half-son Christopher, of Malcom in the Middle fame, included.

‘They were actually making money, and I was giving them money. Carol was their manager,’ he said of the four siblings, who were all raised as Scientologists.

‘I paid for their summer school at that expensive Scientology school in Oregon, Delphi. That was $5,000 each.’ the Lebanese-Australian ex athlete said.

‘I slept on couches so the kids would be fine,’ he said, adding he spent somewhere around $300,000 on the two in the years between his split and excommunication.

He also cited how he was still in touch with Jordan, then a 19-year-old adult, just before he was banished by Scientology – after which point he claimed all of his kids cut him off for good.

He claimed that in 2004 – nine years after the siblings said he left them – he actually helped his son through the notoriously difficult ‘auditing’ undertaking from the church, during which candidates are probed with the purposed  of ridding the individual of negative influences from past events or behaviors.

‘Jordan seems to forget that in 2004, he was getting auditing at the Celebrity Centre and it was going badly,’ he told the paper hours after his half-son’s sentencing.

‘Carol asked me to do an ethics cycle on my son. So I did my thing, I straightened him out, and he did fantastic. So I was in his life in 2004, when he was 18. Danny even complimented me on it.’

He went on to claim: ‘I went to Christmas dinner with them at the house in Glendale that year, in 2004.

‘Chris’ girlfriend, Laura Prepon, was there. I had dinner with them,’ he added of his other half-son, who also wrote to the court in a plea for mercy but his letter cut off in a reproduction of the court papers.

Joe Biden softened his campaign pledge to reopen most of the nation’s schools only eight days after taking office, a new book has claimed, in a bid to appease the powerful head of a teachers’ union, Randi Weingarten.

Biden in July 2020 laid out a plan, on the campaign trail, to bring students back to classrooms.

After the election, on December 8, 2020, he reiterated his intention to reopen most schools within the first 100 days of his presidency.

‘It should be a national priority to get our kids back into school and keep them in school,’ said Biden.

‘If Congress provides the funding, we need to protect students, educators and staff.

‘If states and cities put strong public health measures in place that we all follow, then my team will work to see that the majority of our schools can be open by the end of my first 100 days.’

Yet almost immediately on taking office, his stance shifted, writes author Franklin Foer in a new book about Biden’s first two terms, The Last Politician.

The move has been condemned as devastating for children’s educations – particularly those already deprived who were less likely to be supported with online learning.

COVID school closures and mask wearing have also been blamed for serious issues with children’s psychological development and mental health.

Weingarten was a major Democrat fundraiser, through her union, and the new president needed to keep her on side.

Foer, in excerpts of his book analyzed by The New York Post, called the watering down of the campaign promise ‘the price of peace’.

Foer's book will be published on Tuesday

Foer writes that, on January 28, 2021, Biden rang Weingarten – who had initially welcomed his campaign plan to reopen schools, but was now calling for the pace to be checked.

Biden, Foer writes, told Weingarten that ‘he knew she was taking a lot of heat around the reopening of schools.’

Teachers were concerned about resuming in-person classes, and Biden told Weingarten that he heard their fears, and that ‘he was an abiding friend.’

He told her: ‘I am not abandoning you on schools. I want you to know that.’

The week before, on January 21 – Biden’s first full day in office – his wife Jill, herself a teacher, had invited Weingarten and Becky Pringle, president of the National Education Association, to the White House.

Jill Biden told the pair that Weingarten was the ‘type of general who is never far from the front lines.’

The first lady added, according to Foer: ‘I said I was going to bring you with me into the White House. And on day one, you’re here.’

On February 9, the White House subtly adjusted the guidance on school reopening, to water down the promise to reopen ‘the majority of our schools’ within Biden’s first 100 days.

Under the new plan, only schools up to 8th grade would reopen – and they would be considered ‘open’ if they had students in their classrooms one day a week.

‘His goal that he set is to have the majority of schools — so, more than 50 percent — open by day 100 of his presidency,’ said Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary.

‘And that means some teaching in classrooms.

‘So, at least one day a week. Hopefully, it’s more.

‘And obviously, it is as much as is safe in each school and local district.’

Subsequent text messages and emails between Weingarten and Biden administration officials showed Weingarten worried about reopening schools too quickly.

On February 12, 2021, guidance on school reopening was issued by the government.

In a draft copy obtained by The New York Times, the guidance said ‘all schools can provide in-person instruction’.

Weingarten objected, Foer writes, and the language was changed to to ‘all schools have options to provide in-person instruction.’

Weingarten’s union, the AFT, gave more than $2.6 million to Democratic candidates during the 2020 election cycle, according to the political donation tracking website OpenSecrets.

Pringle’s group, the NEA, gave more than $2.4 million.

Biden himself received more than $245,000 from teacher’s unions during the campaign, more than four times the amount taken in by the next-closest candidate, Bernie Sanders.

There was a freshness and energy in the Chelsea camp coming into the new season following their summer influx of youthful arrivals.

At the same time, though, there was also a caution behind the scenes, an intrigued apprehension about exactly what is possible this season.

That’s the thing about young players, who this version of Chelsea are boldly putting their faith in.

They come with a carefree exuberance that can change the mood and lift the sort of gloom that hung over the Stamford Bridge club after their last season to forget.

That sense of new energy, has been further fuelled by the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino, the personable and charismatic head coach whose coaching and staff have been described as ‘top’ by certain members of his squad.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino has brought a fresh energy to Chelsea despite unconvincing early results

The Blues have taken one point from their first two games and lost 3-1 to West Ham in their last outing

The Blues have taken one point from their first two games and lost 3-1 to West Ham in their last outing

Their welcoming and engaging approach has been appreciated and contributed to an improved vibe around the camp.

The amount of individual time Pochettino and his coaches have given has also been noted and received as a welcome bonus, especially by some younger players.

But there is also an unpredictability and inexperience that comes with youth hence the uncertainty about whether they can meet the demands, as Pochettino has reiterated, that Chelsea have to win and now.

During another summer of Chelsea churn, they said farewell to 10 players from last season’s squad aged 26 and over plus the younger quartet of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Joao Felix who are not exactly short of know-how.

But they have not bought in a single player from the same category with 25 year-old trio Robert Sanchez, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi their most senior arrivals.

Striker Deivid Washington, whose signing was confirmed yesterday, and goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, who is expected to follow, continue the theme.

Their squad at West Ham last Sunday contained just three players over-26 – Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea had the second youngest starting XI on match day two of the new season behind Arsenal and overall have had the fourth youngest average age so far.

Their two displays so far have highlighted the upside of Chelsea’s plan but also areas of concern.

Marco Gusto made his Blues debut against Liverpool

Marco Gusto (left) and Nicolas Jackson (right) are among a host of young faces looking to make an impact at Stamford Bridge

There has certainly been a new look and feel to Chelsea – much-needed after last season – who dominated against both Liverpool and West Ham.

But there has also been a lack of cold ruthlessness at both ends that has led to costly mistakes and left them with just one point.

‘There are many positive things [about Chelsea’s approach],’ Pochettino insisted. ‘But another thing is we need to give time for them to perform.

‘Today we have a good balance because even the younger ones have experience like Enzo Fernandez, a World Cup champion, but of course the Premier League is different.’

Pochettino highlighting the Premier League factor was notable with Arsenal, title challengers against the odds, last season a natural comparison.

Arsenal’s players for their second game of last season had over 400 more Premier League appearances between them compared to Pochettino’s squad at West Ham last week.

Whether it is in England’s top flight or just generally Pochettino accepts there are times when more nous will be needed.

He said: ‘The first step is to play well or to buy the idea of the philosophy but the second step is the most difficult thing, playing well and competing at the same time.

‘This is another football. Set pieces or things like this. In that football you need some experienced players but I think we have a good balance and it’s only about improving this and for sure we are going to improve in this way.

‘I think we can [win now]. I really believe in the squad and the quality of the squad and now it is only the process and we need to wait [for] the process.

Moises Caicedo recently signed from Brighton for a fee rising to £115 million

Robert Sanchez has also joined and slotted in to the first team

Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez have both arrived from Brighton with high expectations on their shoulders

‘We are in a good way, only of course, if today we had four or six points [it would] help to be positive but we need to be positive because it’s the beginning.

‘We are going to win games and, yes, no doubt the quality is there, it’s only a matter of time.’

After highlighting summer signings such as Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Disasi and Sanchez, Pochettino added: ‘If we see the projection of these players, we expect the best from them, we should win every single game.

‘The way we are playing and the platform of the team gives us the opinion we are in a good way. It is only a matter of time until we put it altogether.’

Friday against Luton the pressure will be on and victory now is Chelsea’s only option.

It is a meeting between giants and minnows that brought back memories for Pochettino of his first ever managerial victory at the Nou Camp in February 2009.

He said: ‘I was taking with Roberto De Zerbi in pre-season – he’s a good friend – and I said to him: ‘I was at Southampton, at Espanyol and sometimes we face Real Madrid and it happened the same.

‘It’s the beauty of football. With Espanyol, we beat the dream team of Barcelona with Guardiola, with Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol and Co. Maybe it is similar: Luton and Chelsea compared to Espanyol and Barcelona. It was the first time a bottom team beat a top team. It was a little bit lucky! A little bit!

‘I was telling the players today in our team meeting that we need to match the desire of the Luton players.

IT’S ALL KICKING OFF!

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football, launching with a preview show today and every week this season.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube , Apple Music and Spotify

‘If we match all this, their will and everything, afterwards for sure we presume we have better quality and we have to win. But if not and we don’t match them, the game can be crazy.’

Recalling what it took to stun Barca, Pochettino joked: ‘I can’t give the secrets to the Luton coach!’

But he added: ‘We were Espanyol, we said all we are going to do is try to win, don’t care about making mistakes, we need to be brave and everything.

‘Football is about belief, being together, fighting, no matter the quality you have. If you match this, all the qualities, then you win. If you don’t then the game is going to be over.’

A kindergarten teacher in Lahaina said that a seven-year-old boy - who is the cousin of two of her former students - was found dead alongside his family in a burned out car. Jessica Sill, who teaches at King Kamehameha III Elementary School, told the Wall Street Journal: 'Our parents work one, two, three jobs just to get by and they can’t afford to take a day off. Without school, there was nowhere for [kids] to go that day.' Public schools on Maui have started the process of reopening and traffic has also resumed on a major road, in signs the painful recovery process is underway. At least three schools untouched by flames in Lahaina, where entire neighborhoods were reduced to ash, were still being assessed after sustaining wind damage, Hawaii Department of Education superintendent Keith Hayashi said.

'There's still a lot of work to do, but overall the campuses and classrooms are in good condition structurally, which is encouraging,' Hayashi said in a video update. 'We know the recovery effort is still in the early stages, and we continue to grieve the many lives lost.' Elsewhere crews cleaned up ash and debris at schools and tested air and water quality. Displaced students who enroll at those campuses can access services such as meals and counseling, Hayashi said. The education department is also offering counseling for students, family members and staff. The Federal Emergency Management Agency opened its first disaster recovery center on Maui, 'an important first step' toward helping residents get information about assistance, FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell said. At a news conference, Herman Andaya, Maui Emergency Management Agency administrator, defended not sounding the sirens during the fire. 'We were afraid that people would have gone mauka', he said, using the Hawaiian directional term that can mean toward the mountains or inland. 'If that was the case then they would have gone into the fire.'

There are no sirens in the mountains, where the fire was spreading downhill. Hawaii created what it touts as the largest system of outdoor alert sirens in the world after a 1946 tsunami that killed more than 150. Andaya said they are primarily meant to warn about tsunamis and have never been used for wildfires. The website for the Maui siren system says they may be used to alert for fires. Beyond the decision to not use sirens, state and local officials have faced public criticism over shortages of available water to fight the fire and a chaotic evacuation that saw many trapped in their vehicles on a jammed roadway as flames swept over them. Avery Dagupion, whose family's home was destroyed, is angry that residents weren't given earlier warning to get out and that officials prematurely suggested danger had passed.

He pointed to an announcement by Maui Mayor Richard Bissen on Aug. 8 saying the fire had been contained, 'instilling a false hope in residents of Lahaina,' when hours later the fire exploded. That, he said, lulled people into a sense of safety and adds to the mistrust that he and others have over officials' efforts now. At the news conference, Gov. Jedidiah Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting fame has announced that he is running for a seat the Arkansas House of Representatives — 20 years after his father Jim Bob Duggar served two terms in the same government body.

The 20-year-old shared the news on Instagram on November 3, just days after getting an account, and added more information about his newly-launched campaign on his website.

‘I will fight for sound economic policies, push for more tax relief for all Arkansans, and advocate for conservative values,’ he said. ‘I am a Christian and I will stand up for religious liberty, I am pro-life and I will be an advocate for the unborn, and I will always defend our Second Amendment.’

Jed is running as a Republican to represent Arkansas’ 89th district, which includes Springdale, where he lives with his parents and 10 of his siblings, including twin brother Jeremiah. In fact, he, his twin, and four of their younger brothers still share a bedroom in the house.

‘I have grown up in the Springdale area all my life and as a local small-business owner, I understand the important issues facing the residents and businesses of District 89,’ he said in a campaign video.

On his website, Jed touts his qualifications, highlighting his role as the owner of Champion Motorcars in Springdale.

He also lists Christian mission trips he has taken taken and details his participation at church.

His political experience includes working as a campaign manager for Senator Bob Ballinger’s 2018 State Senate bid, as well as serving as a legislative assistant at the Arkansas State Capitol during the 2017 legislation session.

Jed, who is the 10th of 19 children, promises he is ‘pro-business, pro-family, and is committed to putting Springdale’s conservative values first.’

His website also lays out his stances on several issues, which all fall in line with religious conservatism.

Anti-abortion: He describes himself as '100% pro-life' and says he will 'protect the lives of the unborn'

‘I am a Christian and pro-life conservative who values the fact that life begins at conception,’ he said, promising to champion the ‘un-born.’

‘I believe every human life is created in God’s image, and we must stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves.’

On guns, the NRA member said: ‘I will defend our right to keep and bear arms and I will take a stand against liberal judges who trample on our God-given constitutional rights.’

He promises to work to lower taxes and ‘fight to keep government out of the way and push back on burdensome regulations that hurt our small businesses.’

Jed, who was raised in an evangelical household, also wrote a lengthy passage about religious liberty.

‘People of faith understand that worship is not only confined to the four walls of church, it must be lived out in our daily life. Business owners and employees should never be forced to choose between violating their religious conscience and breaking the law,’ he said.

Finally, he lamented the opioid crisis and shared his intention to fix it with the help of religious programs.

He is hoping to unseat first-term incumbent Megan Godfrey, a Democrat and mother of two with a PhD, who worked as a teacher before going into politics

The election is still a year away, during which time he’ll make his case for winning the Republican nomination and replacing first-term incumbent Megan Godfrey, a Democrat.

Godfrey herself had just narrowly unseated Republican State Representative Jeff Williams last November, winning 1,857 votes to his 1,827.

Jed and his immediate family in Arkansas who are over age 18 have 21 votes among them.

Godfrey, 35, is a married mother of two with a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Arkansas. She previously worked as a teacher, and now serves on a subcommittee on higher education.

Higher education is unlikely to be a point of focus for Jed, who was home-schooled by his mother.

Michelle held home-school sessions for three to four hours a day, enlisting the older ones to teach the younger ones. She wrote in a blog post for TLC that she picked a ‘Christian-based curriculum — one in which there’s a lot of character emphasis, character building like responsibility, honesty, self control.’

Jed’s announcement has him following in the footsteps of his father Jim Bob, 54, who served in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002, representing District 6.

He was vice chair of the House Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee during that time, and also ran on a conservative values platform.

In 2002, he decided to leave the House and ran in the Republican primary election for a seat in the United States Senate, but lost in the primary to incumbent Senator Tim Hutchinson, with a vote of 71,576 to 20,546

In 2006, he also lost a race for the Arkansas State Senate and has not returned to politics in an official capacity, though he has supported numerous political campaigns.

Jim Bob’s oldest son, Josh, 31, was the next to go into politics, though his career was short-lived, getting derailed by a series of sex scandals.

He worked as a part-time political consultant in 2007, and in 2008 worked on the Republican presidential primary campaign of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

He also campaigned for presidential candidate Rick Santorum in 2012, telling a crowd: ‘Our family is like the epitome of conservative values. People connect to us in that way.’

Finally, he took a job as executive director of FRC Action, a conservative political action and lobbying group where he engaged in ‘taking the message of faith, family and freedom all across America.’

But Josh left his job in 2015 after InTouch revealed that he had molested five little girls — including four of his younger sisters — when he was a teenager. Soon after, Josh was discovered to have an account on the adultery website Ashley Madison, and he admitted to being unfaithful to his wife and watching pornography.

‘I have been the biggest hypocrite ever,’ he said in a public statement at the time. ‘While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.’

He added: ‘The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country while hiding my own personal failings.

Second-oldest son John David, 29, is also an elected official, serving as a Constable. He ran as a Republican.

Otherwise, the family’s political activism has come down to voting and supporting conservative candidates.

In 2015, matriarch Michelle, 52, came under public scrutiny for recording a transphobic robocall in opposition to an anti-discrimination bill in Arkansas.

‘Hello, this is Michelle Duggar,’ she said in the recording. ‘I’m calling to inform you of some shocking news that would affect the safety of Northwest Arkansas women and children.

‘The Fayetteville City Council is voting on an ordinance this Tuesday night that would allow men – yes, I said men – to use women’s and girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, showers, sleeping areas and other areas that are designated for females only.

‘I don’t believe the citizens of Fayetteville would want males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female to have a legal right to enter private areas that are reserved for women and girls.

‘I doubt that Fayetteville parents would stand for a law that would endanger their daughters or allow them to be traumatized by a man joining them in their private space.

‘Parents, who do you want undressing next to your daughter at the public swimming pool’s private changing area?’

She and Jim Bob also had all of their kids record a campaign video endorsing Rick Santorum in 2012.

But Jed may not be the last Duggar to run for office. While the women in his family don’t have careers, he still has several younger brothers who could decide to run for office some day.

His 16-year-old brother Justin, in particular, has expressed an interest in politics.

In September, Northwest Arkansas’ CBS affiliate 5NEWS shared an image of a local highway taken from above, showing the words ‘TRUMP 2020’ mowed and burned into the grass along the side of the road.

Though they didn’t identify the political landscaper responsible for the message, oldest son Josh Duggar’s wife Anna soon shared the post and credited her teenage brother-in-law Justin for the grassy shout-out.

‘Looks like Justin’s lawn “art” is picking up some local attention,’ Anna, 30, wrote in an Instagram Story post.

She added a trio of emojis including an American flag, a laughing face, and a shushing face.

With long security lines, potential delays and cramped economy seats, flying isn’t always the most pleasant experience.

And having a toddler along for the ride is one sure fire way to add some extra mayhem to the mix.

Now, one mum has shared her travel secrets to help parents cruise through their next flight – and her tips don’t include leaving the kids at home.

Keeping your little ones entertained while travelling can be a nightmare task, luckily travel expert Colleen Kelly has shared some top tips

Keeping your little ones entertained while travelling can be a nightmare task, luckily travel expert Colleen Kelly has shared some top tips

Colleen Kelly, host of the PBS travel show Family Travel with Colleen Kelly, has taken to TikTok to share these essential travel items.

The TikToker first recommended planning ahead in case your flight is delayed or diverted.

She explained: ‘Number one, don’t think that the flight is going to be non stop, it might get diverted.’

Soothing young children through these disruptions can be a nightmare, especially if you don’t have enough supplies.

So, Colleen advised: ‘Bring extra diapers, extra formula.

‘They’re not easy to find, actually [they’re] almost impossible to find these days,’ she claimed.

‘And of course, breast milk, bring extra of that,’ she added.

However, keeping them fed is a walk in the park compared to making sure they’re well behaved throughout the flight.

Colleen’s tip to keeping kids entertained for so long was to keep ‘little surprises’ wrapped up in your bag which can be taken out to entice them at any point.

Making sure your children are fed and cleaned is the easy part compared to making sure they're well behaved, Colleen suggested bringing 'little surprises' on the next flight

Making sure your children are fed and cleaned is the easy part compared to making sure they’re well behaved, Colleen suggested bringing ‘little surprises’ on the next flight

These can be small gifts, toys, games or anything else travel sized that your kids will enjoy.

She said: ‘They’re going to get bored, they’re going to want to walk around.’

‘I always keep some dollar store stuff wrapped up, because it’s always more fun if you have a present.

‘You can also bribe them…they can have the present if they are good for the next hour.’

Colleen’s final tip was to keep some sweet treats at the ready, and Lollipops work well as they last slightly longer than most sweets.

While, she said, Lollipops aren’t the healthiest option, she admitted it would make both yours and the kids’ flight ‘a lot better.’

  • Just one 350ml drink could theoretically tip kids over the safe threshold
  • It can also cause shock and cause children to lose consciousness

Toddlers shouldn’t be given slushies containing a common E number, food safety chiefs have claimed.

Tango Ice Blast and other popular options can contain glycerol, an additive which gives the child-friendly drinks the desired slushy effect.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) says, in extremely rare circumstances, it can be dangerous for under-4s.

Just one 350ml drink could theoretically tip kids over the safe threshold.

Mild signs of glycerol intoxication include vomiting and headaches. However, it can also cause shock and cause children to lose consciousness.

Adam Hardgrave, head of additives at the FSA, said: ‘It is important that parents are aware of the risks, particularly at high levels of consumption.

‘It is likely there is under-reporting of glycerol intoxication, as parents may attribute nausea and headaches to other factors.’

The warning from the FSA came as part of its new guidance to industry.

It wants retailers to use the minimum amount of glycerol, or E422, as possible.

Glycerol — a substitute for sugar — is also added to the likes of precooked pasta, rice and breakfast cereal, but in much lower quantities.

What is glycerol?

Glycerol, or E422, is a key ingredient used in slush ice drinks to stop them from freezing solid.

Although glycerol is generally of low toxicity, there are concerns about its effect on young children when consumed in large quantities over a short period of time.

Mild signs of glycerol intoxication include vomiting and headaches. However, it can also cause shock and cause children to lose consciousness.

The Food Standards Agency warns retailers to use the minimum amount of glycerol, or E422, as possible.

FSA chiefs based their recommendations on a 350ml-sized drink, similar to ones available in shops and cinemas across the UK.

It was also based on the slushy containing 50,000mg/l of glycerol.

The FSA said any levels above this threshold could cause ‘adverse effects’.

MailOnline has contacted Tango Ice Blast asking them if their levels are under the safety threshold.

Children over four are unlikely to become ill because glycerol effects are related to body weight — meaning it is less potent in older kids.

The FSA explained their advice is based on the average weight of a four-year-old, which is believed to be around 40 pounds, according to Kids Health.

As part of the new guidelines, they have warned cinemas, restaurants and shops to put a stop to promotions such as ‘free refills for under 10s’.

Most slushies in the UK do not detail the levels of glycerol on their drink packaging but the British Soft Drinks Association (BSDA) say all their members have followed the new guidance.

A BSD spokesperson said: ‘Our members adhere to all current ingredient legislation including in relation to glycerol, which is authorized as an additive for use in the UK and Europe and has been used for a number of years by manufacturers of ‘slush’ ice drinks in order to stop the product from freezing.’
