The distraught mom and brother of rapist Danny Masterson have been spotted visiting him in jail in photographs exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.

Carol and Jordan Masterson looked exhausted as they arrived at the Twin Towers jailhouse on the same day the convict’s wife Bijou Phillips filed for divorce

Wearing a black leather jacket with matching trousers and shoes, Carol stared stonily at the ground as she approached the Los Angeles prison, while Jordan looked downcast in a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

They did not appear to be speaking as they marched solemnly down the sidewalk before being scanned by a security guard.

Their visit came amid the bombshell announcement from Bijou that she has filed to divorce the disgraced actor – despite previously supporting him throughout a grueling trial in which his traumatized victims detailed how he ruined their lives.

Masterson, 47, was jailed last week for 30 years after being found guilty of raping two women, both members of the Church of Scientology, in 2003.

Jurors were deadlocked over a third allegation of rape against the actor, brought by his ex-girlfriend Chrissie Carnell-Bixler.

Bijou, 43, sobbed when Masterson was handed the decades-long sentence and he blew her a kiss as he was escorted to the cells.

The formerly devoted wife, who even sent a letter to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo begging for leniency ahead of his sentencing, was consoled afterwards by brother-in-law Jordan.

But Jordan appeared in need of emotional support himself as he arrived looking tired and a little disheveled at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on Tuesday, which may have marked his first time visiting his half-brother in prison.

The 37-year-old narrowed his eyes below a furrowed brow as he approached the central Los Angeles facility, which previously kept disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein behind bars until he was transferred to a New York jail earlier this year.

He closed his eyes and put his hand to his face with despair as he waited to be processed by security.

The 40 Year Old Virgin actor also ran his fingers through his hair with his head bowed down while in line behind his mom.

Carol, who was dressed funereally in all black attire, looked equally beleaguered.

She wore large dark sunglasses as she drove a white SUV towards the jailhouse before emerging and walking with Jordan.

The pair spread their arms wide as they were checked by security guards for any weapons before being allowed to enter the facility.

The That 70’s Show star was convicted on May 31 after two long trials, the first of which ended in mistrial, and many of his close relatives endured hearing the harrowing details of his sexual assaults as they watched on from the public gallery.

Bijou seemed to support her husband throughout the trials, flanking him on each arrival during his $3.3 million bail period.

Phillips began sobbing in court as her husband, and the father of her young daughter, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the rape of two women

She sobbed in court when jurors returned guilty verdicts, and held a handkerchief to her face during his September 7 sentencing hearing, when Judge Olmedo handed him a prison term which will require him to stay behind bars for at least 25.5 years.

In a letter to the judge prior to Masterson’s sentencing, Phillips praised him as a husband and father.

‘I can say that Danny has literally been a life-saving partner to me,’ Phillips wrote in a reference to Masterson’s care for her and their daughter after Phillips had a kidney transplant in 2017.

She also noted Masterson’s aversion to drugs – a common principle of Scientology – and his apparent dedication to helping young actors escape the downfalls of wealth and fame.

But as she heard the heartbreaking testimonies of his victims in court in a harrowing trial, Phillips seems to have reconsidered her marriage.

The women, known to the court as Jane Doe #1, #2 and #3, focused not only on the disturbing details of the sexual assaults, but also about the part the church of Scientology played.

They recalled being intimidated and driven from their community as the church punished them for speaking out against Masterson.

Bijou’s lawyer Peter A. Lauzon said the case has been ‘unimaginably hard on the marriage and the family’.

‘Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time,’ Lauzon said in a statement seen by TMZ.

‘Her priority remains with her daughter. This period has been unimaginably hard on the marriage and the family.

‘Mr. Masterson was always present for Ms. Phillips during her most difficult times of her life.

‘Ms. Phillips acknowledges that Mr. Masterson is a wonderful father to their daughter.’

When Bijou broke cover for the first time on September 12 following the trial, she was seen being comforted by Jordan as they shared a poignant embrace ahead of a lunch outing in her California hometown of Santa Ynez.

They dined at Dos Carlitos restaurant, along with her and Danny’s nine-year-old daughter Fianna

The supportive younger brother offered his sister-in-law a comforting hug and embrace upon arrival before the group sat down and chatted over their meal.

Bijou has reportedly said her date of separation with Danny is ‘TBD’, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce, according to freelance journalist Yashar Ali.

She has asked for spousal support and attorney fees and wants her legal name changed back to Phillips rather than Masterson.

Phillips will have custody of their daughter as expected given Masterson will be behind bars potentially for the rest of his life – but Ali said she will allow their daughter to visit him in jail.

There is only one Michael Jordan, NBA fans might say – but they would be wrong.

As anyone monitoring the Green Bay Packers‘ daily transactions now knows, there is another Michael Jordan, who joined the team’s practice squad this week.

Like the 60-year-old NBA legend, the 25-year-old Jordan is also listed as a 6-foot-6 guard, but that is where the similarities end. At 315 pounds, the former Ohio State lineman weighs about 50 percent more than the elder Jordan did at his age.

Of course, the name is hardly rare. ‘Jordan’ is the 116th most popular surname in the United States, according to NameCensus.com, which ranks ‘Michael’ fourth among for males. Unsurprisingly, A LexisNexis search of the name ‘Michael Jordan’ yielded more than 3,000 results in the US alone.

There are other famous Michael Jordans, too, including actor Michael B. Jordan. And in the early 2000s, ESPN ran a popular advertisement centered on a fictional middle-aged man with the name and the daily struggles he faced.

‘Are you kidding?’ a disappointed limousine driver holding a ‘Michael Jordan’ sign tells the man in the popular ad.

Thanks to his name, the NFL’s Jordan managed to finagle free pizza from Papa John’s during his college days at Ohio State.

‘I placed it online in the name of ”Michael Jordan,”’ the former Buckeye told ESPN in 2021.

‘All of a sudden, it says it will be here in 20 minutes,’ he continued. ‘So I called the place and said I placed an order for Michael Jordan. He started cussing me out. He said, ”It’s Super Bowl Sunday. You can’t be playing around with fake names like that.”

‘Then I went in and showed him my ID, and I got free pizza for a week.’

The younger Michael Jordan arrived on the periphery of the Packers this week and could find his way onto the 53-man roster if Green Bay continues to suffer injuries along its offensive line. Long-time Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari has been battling knee issues since 2018 and missed the team’s Week 1 win over the rival Chicago Bears.

Ultimately he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

In 2021, he was waived and then later claimed by the Carolina Panthers, giving the city of Charlotte two Michael Jordans as the Basketball Hall of Famer owned the NBA’s Hornets at the time.

The NFL’s Jordan was cut by the Panthers in August and has since been looking for work.

As for the origin of his famous moniker, the Michigan native told ESPN he was actually named after his father, which is for the best, considering he’s awful at hoops.

‘I’m actually pretty terrible at basketball,’ he said in 2021. ‘You can ask the guys in the locker room. They already know that. I’ve been terrible since I’ve been a kid. I’ve got to look at the ball when I dribble.’

Jordan Henderson DID move to Saudi Arabia ‘for the money’ insists Chris Sutton… who questions if he could ‘stomach the fight for his place’ against Liverpool’s new signings on preview show ‘It’s All Coming Up’

  • WATCH: Mail Sport’s preview show ‘It’s All Coming Up’ ahead of the big games
  • Chris Sutton has questioned Jordan Henderson’s claims in his interview
  • Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport’s podcast It’s All Kicking Off!

Chris Sutton insists Jordan Henderson should have said his move to Saudi Arabia was money-motivated following a public backlash to his controversial interview.

The former Liverpool skipper broke his silence on his move to join Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, insisting that he had gone to ‘grow the game’ in Saudi Arabia and because his ‘value had shifted’ at Liverpool.

Henderson denied reports that he was earning as much as £700,000-per-week and that his intention ‘was never to hurt anyone’.

The England international has been a vocal supporter for LGBTQ+ rights and his move to a country where homosexuality is criminalised has been condemned by gay-rights groups.

Sutton on Mail Sport’s ‘It’s All Coming Up’ – little brother of the weekly podcast ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ – said Henderson will be ‘burying his head in the sand’ following the interview and questioned whether he could ‘stomach the fight’ against Liverpool’s new summer signings.

He told Mail Sport’s Ian Ladyman: ‘So, you know he went off to Saudi for the money, didn’t he? That’s essentially it. I don’t know why he just doesn’t stick to that and just say that. And then I think everybody would understand it.

‘You know, a couple of years ago had Jordan Henderson being questioned about the possibility of going to Saudi Arabia when the league was up and running, we know that he wouldn’t have had any interest.

‘The only interest going to Saudi Arabia is for people to earn huge amounts of money. And do you know what? That’s OK. But just say it, you know, don’t get involved in arguments about culture, you know, and other people are burying their heads in the sand.

‘The only person who’s burying the head somewhere is Jordan Henderson and that’s somewhere which you know he shouldn’t be burying his head at the minute.’

Mail Sport’s Ladyman meanwhile said that Henderson has a ‘dug a hole’ for himself due to his previous support of the LGBTQ+ community and revealed his surprise that he didn’t fight for his place at Liverpool.

He said: ‘I suppose Chris, the hole that Jordan has dug for himself relates to his previous support of the LGBTQ+ community and how this sits with him going to play in a country like Saudi Arabia. That is the problem.

‘That is why he’s talking. I think that is the situation he’s trying to explain. And I think we can both agree he’s not made a terribly good job of it. Now, one of the things that did fascinate me about the interview was more of a football nugget.

‘When Jordan explained that he left Liverpool, not for the money he says, but because he didn’t think he was going to be in Jurgen Klopp’s plans. Jordan Henderson has never struck me as a type of footballer who would not want to hang around and fight for his place.’

Sutton questioned whether Henderson 'could stomach the fight' against the likes of Alexis Mac Allister

Henderson wouldn't have been a guaranteed starter due to signings like Dominik Szoboszlai

Sutton questioned whether Henderson could ‘stomach the fight for his position’ at Liverpool against new signings including Alexis Mac Allister (left) and Dominik Szoboszlai (right)

Sutton in response questioned whether Henderson was up to fight for his Liverpool place against the likes of new signings, including Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

He said: ‘It surprised me a little bit, the type of character I think we’ve all perceived Jordan to be over the years as a real fighter. But the stuff he talked about, the conversation with Jorg (Schmadtke – Liverpool’s sporting director) and (Jurgen) Klopp and not feeling valued, I don’t get that.

‘He was still under contract at Liverpool and maybe he just couldn’t stomach the fight for his place up against, you know, the likes of McAllister and Szoboszlai going in.’

‘It’s All Coming Up’ is the punchy, short and sharp little brother of Mail Sport’s new weekly podcast ‘It’s All Kicking Off’, featuring Chief Football Writer Ian Ladyman and star columnist Chris Sutton on a heated pre-weekend Zoom chat.

When it emerged that Liverpool had offered £21million for Fluminense midfielder Andre, there was a collective murmuring among many Kopites: ‘who?’

This has not come out of nowhere. Mail Sport reported in July that Liverpool were among a host of European clubs interested in him.

All the same, he is a relative unknown, and he was no high-profile target until recent days.

With Jordan Henderson completing his move to Al-Ettifaq for £12million, Fabinho joining Al-Ittihad for £40m, and Southampton rejecting Liverpool’s second bid of £41m for Romeo Lavia all in the last week, this is not a time for studious patience.

Liverpool need a new defensive midfielder very soon. Perhaps one, perhaps more. With Brazilian option Andre entering the fray, it’s worth answering the burning questions: who is he, and what could he bring?

Liverpool have submitted a £21million bid for Fluminense midfielder Andre. But who is he?

Liverpool have submitted a £21million bid for Fluminense midfielder Andre. But who is he?

Overview

Andre Trindade is only 22 but he has already acquired a strong amount of experience.

He first appeared on Fluminense’s radar at the age of 12, when he was playing as a striker in a youth tournament. Seven goals in eight games was enough to convince the scouts to pluck him from his home and bring him around 1,000km away to the Brazilian capital.

It wasn’t an easy start for him, according to Breaking The Lines. Having no relatives in Rio made the transition hard for the youngster and he was not overly pleased when he was moved into midfield.

Fast forward several years, and the defensive midfielder isn’t looking back. With 145 appearances under his belt for one of South America’s most prestigious clubs, playing in front of an adoring Maracana crowd, he has already achieved a fair amount of success.

In 2022 and 2023, he won successive Taca Guanabara and two Campeonato Carioca titles with Fluminense – regional championships in the state of Rio de Janeiro – accolades which hold some weight in Brazil.

His performances last season bagged him a spot in the Brazilian league’s team of the year. With 61 appearances throughout 2022, he also proved his endurance and is used to balancing domestic fixtures with continental clashes.

The Fluminense midfielder was in the Brazilian Serie A's team of the season last year

The Fluminense midfielder was in the Brazilian Serie A’s team of the season last year

In June, he received his first cap for Brazil, coming on as a substitute in a 4-2 friendly defeat to Senegal.

Fluminense are desperate to hang on to him. According to A Bola, the Portuguese outlet who have been covering Sporting CP’s pursuit of the youngster, Tricolor Flu Fluzão do not want to let him go until at least January, after the current Brazilian league season is over.

With Fulham, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Spurs, and West Ham all reportedly interested, there could be a scuffle for his signature.

A deeper look

The risk with assessing any player in a less familiar league is that it is easy to overhype or underestimate them. Information sources are often unreliable.

A quick scan of clickbait-titled YouTube highlights reels only reveals so much. One ten-minute video on Andre, tantalisingly subtitled ‘Insane Goals, Skills & Assists’, proceeds to show no goals and no assists.

That said, compared against his peers in Brazil’s top flight, he has the requisite qualities to play a variety of midfield roles, particularly for his passing and ball-carrying qualities.

The 22-year-old enjoys throwing himself into challenges but is more used to intercepting

The 22-year-old enjoys throwing himself into challenges but is more used to intercepting

Having been with Fluminense since the age of 12, Andre (right) has been through lots of highs

Having been with Fluminense since the age of 12, Andre (right) has been through lots of highs

Some of his statistics are remarkable. According to stats site Fbref, no player in Brazil’s Serie A has completed more passes this season. No player has completed a higher percentage of their passes attempted.

Just four players have had more touches of the ball, and only five have carried it further. He is only dispossessed around once every three games, despite being in the top 2% for the number of times he receives the ball.

The caveat to that is that Fluminense have had more possession than anyone – 59.6% – and are a highly ranked team. So naturally you’d expect a man in the heartbeat of that team to see more of the ball and do more with it.

Defensively, he is strong in the Brazilian league. Only one midfielder has made more interceptions. He ranks in the bottom half of his peers for attempted tackles, but most of those attempts are successful.

Collectively, he makes more tackles in Fluminense’s defensive third than the other two thirds of the pitch put together, indicating that he typically intervenes in opposition attacks at quite a late stage. This might contrast with what he would be expected to do at Liverpool, as Klopp likes to win the ball back quickly high up the pitch, and it would be interesting to see if he could make that transition

His heat map places him in a typical No 6 position: directly behind the centre circle. But his movement is more eclectic than that, seeing him crop up regularly on the left side of the opponent’s half, suggesting he would fit into an expansive and fluid system.

At Fluminense he is playing among footballing royalty in the form of Marcelo and, to a lesser extent of regality, Felipe Melo – old sages who he can learn from.

Amid all these positives, it is worth clarifying what Andre is not. Based off current evidence, the 22-year-old is not your typical playmaker. While he may complete most of his passes, only a handful of those are progressive passes. Most of his duties involve picking a safer option and moving the ball on to a more creative player.

In 2022, he played 61 games. The youngster has played in the Copa Libertadores and for Brazil

In 2022, he played 61 games. The youngster has played in the Copa Libertadores and for Brazil

Andre will be hoping to bring a similar competence in passing as Jordan Henderson

Fabinho's departure leaves a lack of defensive commitment in midfield that Andre could provide

Liverpool are seeking to replace Henderson and Fabinho after their moves to Saudi Arabia

There’s nothing wrong with that – in fact, that was one of Fabinho’s strengths – but it is worth bearing in mind that he does not contribute much on the attacking front. A record of three goals and three assists in his entire career could be much improved, even for a defensive midfielder; Fabinho managed to chip in with eight goals in 2021/22.

There’s only so much stats can say, though. Not only is their gathering vulnerable to human error, but they fail to account for so many factors. A high number of interceptions, for example, could be explained by a team-mate applying pressure to opposition players and causing them to mess up passes.

And so one finds those YouTube clips all the more tempting, allured by the romance of trying to decode a player with one’s own eye, to come up theories about what he might be capable of.

He is certainly impressive to watch. What stands out to the naked eye is his determination to dive into the tackle, to battle through the men around him, to get first to a stray pass. There is also an elegance to the way he sprays his passes and how he drifts through the midfield with the ball.

The problem is that any professional footballer can do that at the right level for them. It’s not rocket science. Clearly Andre Trindade stands out in Brazil, and he has earned the chance to prove himself in Europe.

Whether he can translate being dominant in his homeland to controlling the midfield of an elite European club is another question that only time will answer. Should Liverpool fans allow themselves a glimmer of excitement, though? Absolutely.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has completed his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq, with the England international signing a staggering £700,000-per-week deal.

Henderson had said his farewells on Monday as his 12-year association with the Reds came to an end.

The 33-year-old flew out to Saudi Arabia to complete his controversial move, with the midfielder signing a three-year contract. Henderson had undergone a medical in Manchester on Friday ahead of the transfer.

Confirming the news, Liverpool said in a statement: ‘We can confirm Jordan Henderson has completed a transfer to Al-Ettifaq. As his Anfield chapter now comes to a close, everyone at the club wishes to place on record their thanks and gratitude for everything Jordan did for us during his 12 years as a Red.’

Al-Ettifaq also announced the move on their end, writing: ‘A leader. A warrior. We’re simply thrilled to have him. Henderson is ETTIFAQ.’

Henderson had already been pictured training with his new team-mates after heading out to the club’s camp in Croatia to finalise the terms of his deal this week.

It is thought Henderson spoke to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at length about his likely playing time and his future role in the team before deciding to make the switch.

Klopp had left Henderson out of Liverpool’s squad for their opening two pre-season friendlies after Al-Ettifaq came back to the table with an offer the Anfield club were happy to accept.

Henderson also held discussions with England boss Gareth Southgate over how a move to the Middle East would impact his international future.

He becomes the latest Premier League player to be recruited this summer by the Saudi Pro League, while he is the first prominent England international to make the switch.

The former Reds skipper has already faced criticism over the move to Saudi Arabia, which some have argued has undermined his public support to the LGBT community.

He had been vocal in his support of the rainbow laces campaign and ending LGBT discrimination in football.

A Liverpool LGBT fan group said earlier this month that they were ‘appalled and concerned’ he was considering the move to a nation where homosexuality is illegal and persecution against gay people is widespread.

Henderson had been a crucial part of Liverpool’s side since joining the club for £20m from Sunderland back in 2011.

In his twelve years on Merseyside, Henderson lifted seven major trophies – including the Premier League and Champions League.

He spent the last eight seasons as captain of the club, after succeeding Steven Gerrard as captain in 2015.

Henderson will be reunited with Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, after the Liverpool legend was appointed as manager earlier this month.

Unlike Saudi Arabia’s top four clubs, Al-Ettifaq do not have financial backing from the Public Investment Fund.

That led to the club agreeing a £12m deal with Liverpool through a structured timeline of payment.

Henderson will have to help Gerrard overcome a slow start at the club, which is based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia’s fourth largest city.

Al-Ettifaq have had two draws and two losses during their pre-season under Gerrard, having faced opposition from Croatia and Hungary.

Reports have claimed the midfielder could be joined at the club by former Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.

Al-Ettifaq are due to play two more pre-season friendlies before beginning their Saudi Pro League season by hosting Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on August 14.

Al-Nassr have already signed former Manchester United full back Alex Telles and Croatia midfielder Marcelo Brozovic this summer

While they are reportedly targeting a move for Henderson’s ex-Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane too.

Henderson could yet also be joined in Saudi Arabia by his fellow Reds midfielder Fabinho, who was left off of the club’s pre-season tour to mull over a £40million move to Al-Ittihad.

A flood of players have traded European clubs for the Middle East including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy.

Brendan Rodgers’ potential Celtic return DOESN’T make sense, claims Simon Jordan… insisting a ‘sideways’ move back to Scotland will ‘create more challenges than solutions’ for axed Leicester boss

Simon Jordan feels that a proposed return to Celtic for Brendan Rodgers doesn’t make sense for either party.

Out of football since being sacked by Leicester in April, the Northern Irishman intended to take a prolonged break from the game with a view to eventually managing abroad.

But Mail Sport’s revelation on Monday that a Celtic delegation flew by private jet to meet the 50-year-old at his home in Mallorca has dramatically shortened the odds on him returning to the club where he won seven straight domestic trophies prior to abruptly leaving for the Foxes in early 2019.

Rodgers guided Leicester to successive fifth-place finishes as well as the 2021 FA Cup only to struggle this season before departing.

But, given Leicester’s subsequent relegation and the acrimonious nature of his sudden exit from Celtic, Mail Sport columnist Jordan fails to see why either party would look to work together again.

Celtic have held talks with former manager Brendan Rodgers over a stunning return to the club

Celtic have held talks with former manager Brendan Rodgers over a stunning return to the club

‘Rodgers did a great job at Celtic and in recent times hasn’t done a great job,’ he told talkSPORT. ‘Depends what Brendan Rodgers you’re getting. I would be surprised if that was a route either party wanted to go down.

‘Rodgers was responsible, in part, for Leicester being relegated. Is that good enough for Celtic? You have to be judged on your last job. I don’t think it’s a good fit.’

Questioning the wisdom of Celtic returning for a manager who never replicated the heights of his first season in Glasgow, the ex-Crystal Palace owner added: ‘I don’t think there’s a benefit in going back and you need to move on.

‘It’ll be interesting to see what’s on offer because, after the last 12 months, I don’t think he’ll be a highly sought after commodity for the high echelon clubs.

‘At best for Rodgers, it will be a sideways move from what Leicester were, not what he turned them into.

‘I just think going back to Celtic would create more challenges than solutions.

‘Winning things makes people happy but I’d be surprised economically. It doesn’t seem to be a fit in terms of salary and where he thinks he should be managing.

‘He went to Scotland to come back to the Premier League. It’s a very strange dynamic to say: “I’ll skulk back to Scotland to give myself another opportunity to come back to the league that I actually want to manage in”.’

Jordan doesn’t doubt that Celtic’s interest in hiring Rodgers again is genuine. Given that chief executive Michael Nicholson and finance director Chris McKay took the trouble to fly to the Spanish island for talks, he feels an agreement between the club and its former manager can’t be out of the question.

‘If these guys have got a private jet… no one is that narcissistic that they want someone to get on a private jet and fly out so they can tell them what they could’ve told them on the phone,’ he said.
