The top Republican investigating Biden family corruption is outraged at a new report revealing that Hunter Biden‘s legal team urged the Department of Justice to prosecute IRS whistleblowers accusing the department of giving him ‘special treatment.’

According to correspondence obtained by the New York Times, Special Counsel David Weiss did not plan to charge the president’s son with any tax crimes until after two IRS whistleblowers came forward alleging illegal politicization of Hunter’s case.

In addition, the report states that Hunter’s legal team were disgruntled at the IRS agents who ‘affected the deal’ that fell apart in court last month – in part due to the allegations brought to light by the agents.

As a result, Hunter’s lawyers ‘contended to the Justice Department that by disclosing details about the investigation to Congress, they broke the law and should be prosecuted.’

‘Biden family attorneys are now pushing the Biden DOJ to prosecute IRS whistleblowers for sharing information with Congress,’ House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer fumed in response to the report.

‘These brave whistleblowers testified under oath and deserve protection. This witness intimidation is unacceptable,’ he continued on Twitter, now known as ‘X.’

Attorneys for the whistleblowers said that if it weren’t for their ‘courageous actions’ Hunter would never have been charged at all.

Comer, R-Ky., told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on ‘Sunday Morning Futures’ that Republicans are ‘facing obstruction like has never been demonstrated in the history of congressional investigations.’

‘Not only are we being obstructed by the Biden legal team, we’re being obstructed by the Department of Justice. We’re being obstructed by the FBI, by the Secret Service, by the IRS, by the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee. And the next question is will we be obstructed by the new Special Counsel David Weiss investigating this.’

As for next steps in the GOP probe, they will be focused on nailing down the Biden family’s overseas accounts.

‘We’ve heard a report from a whistleblower that there are overseas accounts and we’re going to be working with the Ways and Means Committee to try to get those overseas accounts,’ he pledged.

The committee announced last week it is seeking records from the National Archives revealing Joe Biden’s use of pseudonyms to discuss his activities related to Ukraine with his son Hunter during his time as vice president.

According to the New York Times, four years into Weiss’ five-year investigation, Weiss determined he did not have enough evidence to charge the president’s son.

During negotiations with Hunter’s lawyers earlier this year, Weiss reportedly was working on a deal where Hunter would not have to plead guilty to any charges at all – including misdemeanors.

At the same time, whistleblower Gary Shapley came forward and alleged that DOJ in Washington, D.C., and California had refused to indict Hunter due to ‘political pressures’ and the president’s son received ‘special treatment.’

And only a few days later, Weiss then changed his tune and wanted Hunter to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges, according to the New York Times.

That was the plan, until the deal blew up spectacularly in court last month.

Hunter appeared in federal court on July 26 prepared to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and walk away with just a slap on the wrist and no prison time. Republicans slammed as a ‘sweetheart deal’ that Biden’s DOJ put together to protect the president’s son.

However, after Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned the ‘diversion agreement’ of Hunter’s plea deal – a clause that gave him blanket immunity for a wide range of other potential charges, including illegal foreign lobbying – the deal blew up spectacularly.

Noreika dismissed the charges in Delaware after requests from the prosecution last week.

In addition, Attorney General Merrick Garland promoted Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss – the main Hunter prosecutor – to special counsel status earlier this month.

As a result, DOJ lawyers are not planning to enter into a new plea deal with the president’s son anytime soon, and he is likely to head to trial for tax and gun crimes following the appointment of the special counsel.

Hunter’s attorney Abbe Lowell slammed prosecutors for changing their decision ‘on the fly standing up in court’ and also pledged that the DOJ will find ‘no new evidence’ against the president’s son.

Garland’s decision to promote Weiss to special counsel comes after recent whistleblower allegations that Hunter received ‘special treatment’ during the criminal probe.

IRS agents Joe Ziegler and Gary Shapley testified under oath to House Republicans that their investigation ‘supported felony and misdemeanor tax charges,’ which were ultimately not brought against the president’s son Hunter due to political pressures.

Weiss tried to bring felony charges against him in Washington, D.C., they said, but was blocked by the district’s top federal prosecutor Matthew Graves, a Biden appointee.

The ‘special treatment’ for Hunter became a pattern that kept happening over and over, said the whistleblowers who were told they would get in ‘hot water’ if they tried to speak with President Joe Biden’s adult children and grandchildren over the course of their investigation.

The collapse of Hunter Biden’s original plea deal also presents more problems for his father, Joe Biden. The president will now face more headlines and questions involving his drug-addict son’s case as he hits the 2024 campaign trail.

The unraveling of the agreement between prosecutors and the defense team means Hunter could now face more charges. It also means that Hunter is likely to face additional prosecutions down the road.

Those may include any crimes related to his business deals with Ukraine, Romania and China that raked in millions of dollars.

And Republicans say Joe was at the center of them.

The White House has maintained that the president has never been ‘in business’ with his son.

Top Republican wants to DEFUND the (tax) police: GOP Senator seeks to disarm the IRS law enforcement agency that helped jail Chicago mobster Al Capone

  • Joni Ernst, a Republican Senator for Iowa, says the U.S. tax agency’s federal investigators should not be allowed to carry weapons
  • The ardent Trump loyalist and a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment wants to pass a law that would disarm the IRS Criminal Investigation’s unit
  • But just over 2,000 IRS special agents, who have the power under U.S. law to make arrests when investigating fraud, actually use firearms

A top Republican who was once close to ex-president Donald Trump wants to defund the anti-fraud police that jailed mobster Al Capone and take away their firearms.

Senator Joni Ernst, who represents Iowa in the upper house of Congress, has introduced a draft law that aims to ‘disarm the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).’

‘The taxman is fully loaded at the expense of the taxpayer,’ Ernst claimed. ‘Any further weaponization of this federal agency against hardworking Americans and small businesses is a grave concern.’

Ernst, a vocal defender of the Second Amendment, is introducing a law to deny tax law enforcement agents the right to bear arms

Ernst, a vocal defender of the Second Amendment, is introducing a law to deny tax law enforcement agents the right to bear arms

Her claims have echoes of a Republican-backed yet oft-debunked conspiracy theory, which circulated online last year, that the Biden administration was about to arm as many as 87,000 IRS agents to raid the homes of ordinary Americans.

Ukraine-bashing Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia repeated the bogus claim on social media last August.

Ernst, once floated as a possible Trump VP pick in 2016, wants to pass her ‘Why Does the IRS Have Guns Act’ that would strip the IRS of the right to buy, receive or store  guns and ammunition.

Her blueprint could dent her reputation for fiscal conservatism, however, as the plan would hobble the IRS’s ability to claw back lost revenues from tax-dodgers.

The ex-servicewoman also says that any existing firearms held by the IRS should be sold off to pay off the federal deficit that hit an eye-watering $1.4 trillion in 2022.

She cited findings by the watchdog group Open the Books, which showed the IRS spent $35.2 million on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment since 2006.

But her bizarre call may raise eyebrows in mainstream GOP circles where Republicans have traditionally backed law enforcement officers and value abiding by the law.

As most U.S. lawmakers know, the IRS set up its criminal investigations unit over a century ago in 1919.

Its goal was to disrupt and dismantle major drug and money laundering organizations, and its officers helped convict mafia boss Al Capone back in 1931.

The name of the elite unit back then was simply the IRS Enforcement Branch.

And in 2009, its agents helped to put disgraced financier Bernie Madoff behind bars for swindling investors and retirement funds out of billions of dollars.

Fraudster Bernie Madoff was brought down after an investigation by IRS special agents and is now behind bars

Today, there are just over 2,000 IRS special agents of its some 80,000 employees who carry firearms.

The unit is a federal law enforcement agency that probes potential white-collar crimes such as tax fraud and has sweeping powers to make arrests.

The right of those officers to have guns is set out under federal legislation known as the U.S. code.

A mere 8.000 of its overall staff are actually involved in the auditing of tax returns filed by American firms and workers.

IRS Commissioner Dan Werfel told a Congressional hearing in April that claims of the entire tax agency’s workforce being given arms and the power of arrest were false.

‘Our criminal investigation division is where we work to reduce and engage in tax fraud and acute areas of tax evasion where in order to enforce, we’re putting federal employees’ life in danger and therefore, there’s a need to arm,’ he said.

Ernst, 52, remains an influential figure on the right of the Republican party and she drew several GOP presidential candidates to her annual ‘Roast and Ride’ event in Iowa on June 3.

Her bill to defund the IRS criminal investigations unit stands little chance of becoming law because the Democrats currently control the Senate.

Top Republican demands IRS commissioner explain ‘retaliation’ plot that led to whistleblower’s entire Hunter Biden team being removed from the investigation

Chairman Jason Smith of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee is demanding a probe into an alleged ‘retaliation’ plot by the IRS which led to an entire investigative division looking into Hunter Biden‘s crimes to be cut.

IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel told Congress in April that his agency would not retaliate against whistleblowers, saying that ‘there will be no retaliation for anyone making an allegation or a call to a whistleblower hotline.’

However, Smith is now calling that promise into question after it was revealed this week by attorneys for an IRS whistleblower that the agency removed the entire team probing Hunter Biden’s tax returns ‘in retaliation against a whistleblower who alleged his colleagues were covering-up the president’s son’s financial crimes.’

Smith, R-Mo., sent a letter Tuesday, demanding Werfel explain his apparent contradiction.

‘I call on Commissioner Werfel to abide by his pledge, quickly provide information to Congress in response to these allegations, and ensure that no action is taken to discourage those who attempt to shine a light on government misconduct,’ he said in a statement Tuesday.

According to a letter from the whistleblower’s attorneys earlier this week to Smith and other congressional leaders, their client’s dismissal orders came from the Justice Department.

‘Today the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Supervisory Special Agent we represent was informed that he and his entire investigative team are being removed from the ongoing and sensitive investigation of the high-profile, controversial subject about which our client sought to make whistleblower disclosures to Congress,’ the letter on behalf of the whistleblower states.

‘He was informed the change was at the request of the Department of Justice,’ Mark Lytle and Tristan Leavitt wrote.

Other Republican lawmakers are speaking out and slamming the IRS for being complicit in an alleged ‘cover-up’ scheme.

‘The IRS is complicit in the cover-up of Hunter Biden’s tax fraud,’ House GOP Chairwoman Elise Stefanik tweeted Tuesday. ‘There must be accountability.’

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., also slammed the alleged action by the IRS detailed in the letter, accusing the federal government of ‘once again’ may be ‘abusing its power’ by retaliating against a whistleblower.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., brought up the letter by the whistleblower’s attorney during a separate hearing by the Senate Finance Committee Tuesday.

He called Hunter Biden a ‘wealthy tax cheat,’ pointing to the whistleblower’s allegations as another example of the weaponization of the government to protect Biden’s family.

Hunter, 53, was spotted Monday, along with his father President Joe Biden, and First Lady Jill Biden, at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for his daughter Maisy’s graduation.

He still waits to find out if he will be charged with tax fraud as corruption claims pile up against his family.

Republican lawmakers are slamming the IRS for being involved in an alleged ‘cover-up’ scheme by the Biden administration to conceal Hunter Biden‘s financial crimes.

According to a letter to Congress obtained by DailyMail.com, the IRS has removed the entire team probing Hunter Biden’s tax returns ‘in retaliation against a whistleblower who alleged his colleagues were covering-up the president’s son’s financial crimes.’

Those dismissal orders came from the Justice Department, the whistleblower’s attorneys said in the letter Monday.

Following the whistleblower’s revelations, House GOP Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., accused the IRS of being ‘complicit’ in the ‘cover-up’ of Hunter Biden’s illegal activities by the Biden administration.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., also slammed the alleged action by the IRS detailed in the letter, accusing the federal government of ‘once again’ may be ‘abusing its power’ by retaliating against a whistleblower.

A whistleblower, who is specifically alleging that the Biden administration is ‘obstructing justice’ by blocking efforts to charge Hunter Biden for federal violations, he continued.

The top Republican said that Congress will ‘thoroughly investigate’ and hold accountable any administration officials ‘covering up’ any of Hunter’s crimes.

IRS commissioner Daniel Werfel recently told Congress that his agency would not retaliate against whistleblowers.

On April 27, Werfel testified before the House Committee on Ways and Means.

He said: ‘I can say without any hesitation there will be no retaliation for anyone making an allegation or a call to a whistleblower hotline.’

He questioned former IRS official John Fort on the situation, who said that in his ’30 years’ in the IRS, he had not seen any team pulled off a case.

‘Former IRS official testified that in 30 years, he never saw an entire investigatory team pulled off a case. But that’s what happened to Hunter’s investigators,’ Johnson said.

‘Unequal application of law and weaponizing agencies against citizens is becoming routine in Democrat administrations.’

Comer told FOX Business’ Larry Kudlow Tuesday that he’s ‘outraged.’

‘This is another example of this administration just completely out of control.’

The House Oversight Committee has accused 10 members of the Biden family – including Hunter – of being involved in ‘shady’ business deals where they profited off of the family name.

Those dismissal orders came from the Justice Department, the whistleblower’s attorneys told Congress in a letter, according to The New York Post.

But IRS commissioner Daniel Werfel told Congress that his agency would not retaliate against whistleblowers.

Hunter’s business dealings have been under the microscope since a series of leaked emails sparked suspicions that he was using his political connections to land lucrative consulting contracts.

‘However, this move is clearly retaliatory and may also constitute obstruction of a congressional inquiry,’ the lawyers said.

‘Our client has a right to make disclosures to Congress … He is protected by 5 U.S.C. § 2302 from retaliatory personnel actions—including receiving a ‘significant change in duties, responsibilities, or working conditions’ (which this clearly is) because of his disclosures to Congress.

‘Any attempt by any government official to prevent a federal employee from furnishing information to Congress is also a direct violation of longstanding appropriations restriction.

‘Furthermore, 18 U.S.C. § 1505 makes it a crime to obstruct an investigation of Congress,’ Lytle and Leavitt wrote.

‘We respectfully request that you give this matter your prompt attention. Removing the experienced investigators who have worked this case for years and are now the subject-matter experts is exactly the sort of issue our client intended to blow the whistle on to begin with.’

The White House has repeatedly denied interfering in the case.

Republican lawmakers are currently probing how 10 family members of Joe Biden raked in over $10 million from foreign nationals around the time he was Obama’s deputy.

Those who benefitted included Hallie Biden, Beau Biden’s widow and Hunter Biden’s one-time girlfriend, Hunter Biden’s ex-wife Kathleen Buhle.

Hunter Biden’s current wife Melissa Cohen Biden, Biden’s brother James and his wife Sarah, and the grandchildren and nieces and nephews of Joe Biden also alleged to have received payments.

Joe Biden met with relatives’ business associates on many occasions — including those from China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Russia and Ukraine — and House Republicans allege that Biden family members offered no legitimate business services and were merely selling access to the upper reaches of US government.

After his father took office as president and promised no further family conflicts of interest abroad, Hunter launched an art career seeking as much as $500,000 for his novice works.

Hunter’s membership on the board of a Ukrainian energy company also raised suspicions of influence-peddling.

He and the president’s sister Valerie Biden Owens traveled on Air Force One on the commander-in-chief’s recent visit to Ireland.

Biden recently appeared before a judge in Arkansas in a paternity case filed by a former fling, Lunden Roberts.

Hunter will also have to submit to a deposition in June in which Roberts’ lawyers will likely grill him about his various businesses and shady overseas ventures.

Hunter Biden’s laptop also included a series of lewd photos and a webcam video of the 53-year-old that portrayed his struggles with flatulence

They’ll also want to know Hunter’s finances have cratered while he’s selling paintings for up to $500,000 apiece under his new guise as an abstract artist.

Roberts, a former stripper, won a reported $2.5 million settlement from Hunter after taking him to court in 2019.

She also forced the ex-Navy reservist, booted out of the military in 2014 for testing positive for cocaine, to take a DNA test to prove he fathered their daughter, Navy Joan, during their 2017 fling.

Roberts’s lawyers say Hunter Biden has not provided ‘a single item or word of discovery’ in their ongoing child support lawsuit.
