One savvy family has revealed how they rake in hundreds of dollars on Amazon with a very simple method.

Tiffany Moore-McIntosh, 34, took to TikTok to explain how she has been cashing in on the discounted rates at Dollar Tree.

The mom-of-five, originally from Ohio, said that her family had been reselling the cut-price products online for as much as five times the original cost.

And other social media users have praised her for the nifty trick.

In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 1.2 million times, Tiffany records her daughter and niece – ages 15 and 16 – in the aisles of Dollar Tree.

Both are carrying a large boxes of candy – one of which is stuffed full of packets of Ring Pops.

The overlaid text reads: ‘Our family Amazon-Dollar Tree haul. Spent $120 to make $750.’

Tiffany, who works as a business coach, uploaded the clip alongside a caption that read: ‘My Kids Are Entrepreneurs On Amazon Too!’

It seems as though the family have been achieving a healthy profit with their ‘retail arbitrage’ endeavors.

Retail arbitrage, which has become increasingly popular in recent months, is defined as the process of buying discounted products from retailers to resell on Amazon for a profit.

And Tiffany’s brief video appears to have already inspired a whole host of other businesspeople.

One wrote: ‘Raising them right! The future leaders – awesome job! Many blessings.’

Another added: ‘Good practice! Teach them business.’

She has also since set up empowerment group ‘6 Figure Chics’ to help empower women in the business world.

  • Romelu Lukaku has only managed 19 minutes of action since signing for Roma
  • The Belgian insisted that that level of support is ‘what you want to experience’
  • Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport’s podcast  It’s All Kicking Off

Romelu Lukaku admitted that seeing the mass turnout of Roma fans on his arrival at Ciampino Airport filled him with ‘positive thoughts’ ahead of his loan move from Chelsea

The Belgian forward has once again departed the Blues for Italy, joining Jose Mourinho’s Giallorossi on the penultimate day of the transfer window to secure regular football.

After a £98million move from Inter to Stamford Bridge in 2021, it has been a far from comfortable return to west London which has yielded just 15 goals in 44 games, with a return to Inter on loan coming last season.

With his place in the side under threat once again, seemingly being frozen out of Mauricio Pochettino‘s first-team, Lukaku has once again sought the refuge of Serie A football, with Roma keen to bring the striker in on loan.

In an interview now released by the Europa League runners-up, Lukaku has admitted that seeing the throngs of people who turned out to welcome him to the Italian capital was ‘beautiful’.

‘You know what’s beautiful? That Roma fans support the players a lot if they play well,’ he said. ‘This, for a person like me and for the rest of the team, is good for all of us.’

‘When I landed and saw all those people waiting for me I could only think positive thoughts. That’s what you want to experience when you play football. You live for those emotions,’ he added.

‘The Colosseum? It’s beautiful, it’s the first time for me because I’ve never been here before. Now I can see the symbol of Rome, it’s a moment I’ve been waiting for for many years because when I was little it was impossible to see it. Now I’m here and I want to take some nice photos to show my children.’

Since arriving at the Giallorossi Lukaku has played just 19 minutes of competitive football as he works his way back to full fitness, coming on in a recent 2-1 defeat to AC Milan.

Mourinho’s side have not made the best of starts to life in 2023-24, currently sat  18th after three games having drawn their opener against Salernitana, followed by defeats to Verona and Milan, both 2-1.

There is great expectation on the 30-year-old to rediscover his best form after a difficult 12 months that saw him struggle to cement a starting berth at Inter Milan last season and fail to find the net in the Qatar World Cup.

Lukaku touched down via private jet at Rome’s Ciampino airport on Tuesday afternoon and was met by eager supporters anticipating his arrival, the player lifting a Roma scarf above his head to the evident joy of the masses.

There were loud roars from the crowd as he stepped out at the city’s second airport waving, touching his chest and showing his appreciation for the welcome, beaming all the while.

Hundreds of Brits are expected to die this week as the 33C heatwave bares down on England.

Climate and health experts told MailOnline the nation should brace for another wave of excess deaths similar to the 3,000 recorded during last year’s sizzling summer.

While the mercury isn’t predicted to come close to last season’s record 40C, experts warned not to underestimate how deadly 30C-plus temperatures can be.

The over 65s, newborn babies, and people with health conditions, like heart or lung conditions are said to be the most at risk.

However, even healthy adults have been warned they could also be at risk with the vast majority of England now falling under an ‘amber’ heat health alert.

Health bosses have issued an amber heat alert for most of England, meaning there is potential for the whole population, not just the vulnerable, to become ill from high temperatures

An amber warning means the whole population is considered to be at risk.

Only the North East of the country has been somewhat spared, with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issuing a ‘yellow’ alert, signifying that temperatures are only a major risk to the vulnerable.

The six-day alert, which began yesterday and will run until Sunday night, warns of higher death rates and ‘significant impacts’ on vulnerable people and the NHS.

It was the vulnerable who were the major victims of last year’s five heatwaves, with an extra 2,800 fatalities officially recorded, mostly among the over 65s.

Analysts said at the time they had never seen such high levels of excess mortality in heatwaves since records began nearly two decades ago.

HOW DOES THE HEAT KILL?

Hot weather can cause dehydration, which causes blood to thicken. This can raise the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

It also lowers blood pressure, making it harder to push blood around the body. This, in extreme cases, can lead to blood clots and strokes.

Overheating is particularly dangerous for patients with heart and breathing problems.

There is also a higher risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially if exercising outdoors when it’s hot. This is caused by not drinking enough and losing fluids through sweat.

Studies have also found accidents and injuries, such as from car crashes, are higher worldwide during hot spells.

Experts believe this is because heat can interfere with thinking, making mistakes more likely.

Dr Antonio Gasparrini, an expert in statistics and epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, warned this heatwave would be no different and a spike in deaths was inevitable despite temperatures remaining below 40C.

‘Heat-related mortality starts increasing well below such extreme temperatures, and it can be expected that a noticeable increase in deaths will occur even at ranges predicted in the current heatwave,’ he said.

‘An excess [of deaths] in the range of the hundreds would not be surprising.’

Dr Gasparrini said deaths from heat increase gradually from a certain ‘optimal’ temperature, about 18-20C in the UK, before increasingly sharply as it gets hotter.

However, he said the true scale of the problem will only emerge in the months to come as deaths are officially recorded and analysed.

Dr Gasparrini added that while the elderly and those with existing health conditions had been rightly highlighted as being the most at risk from the current heatwave, others shouldn’t be complacent.

‘Increases in risks are noticeable also in healthy and relatively young people,’ he said.

However, he added that while tips on coping with the heat, like those being issued by the likes of UKHSA, was welcome more active projects like improving Britain’s infrastructure to keep the public cool were needed.

Dr Friederike Otto, an expert in climate science from Imperial College London, also predicted a spike in deaths from the heat in the coming days.

‘With many poorly insulated homes and people not very used to temperatures above 30C sadly a spike in excess mortality is to be expected,’ she said.

‘Heat is deadly, for the population and infrastructure in the UK, people die at 30C. People need to know this.’

Like Dr Gasparrini, she urged young people not to consider themselves ‘invincible’ from life-threatening heat.

Muscle cramps can also become more common due to dehydration, as electrolytes and minerals vital for muscle function are lost through sweat. Hot weather can also see some parts of the body, such as the hands, feet and ankles swell. Heat causes blood vessels to expand, which can cause fluid to leak into surrounding tissues, triggering swelling known as heat oedema

‘When being outdoors in the sun, forgetting to hydrate and living in polluted cities, heat strokes and serious other health problems can occur for everyone.’

Dr Otto urged Brits to not only take care of themselves but check on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.

‘When high temperatures are forecast, people should follow heat advice from governments and local authorities, ensure they drink enough water and remain in cooler areas with shade or in cool buildings, especially during the warmest part of the day,’ she said.

She also warned the UK was not doing enough to prepare for extreme heat events, preparations that could reduce excess deaths.

‘Our cities and homes are not built to deal with extreme heat,’ she said.

‘But it is not a secret what needs to be done and redesigning our cities to be more resilient to weather extremes also reduces emissions and benefits health and biodiversity.

‘It should be an absolute no-brainer to do this.’

One major of the concerns is that numerous Brits could experience heat exhaustion.

This condition, triggered by the body being unable to cool itself down, can cause dizziness, excessive sweating and lead to potentially fatal heat stroke.

People with circulation or breathing problems, which limit their ability to cool down are particularity at risk.

Brits with dementia are also at high risk, as they may forget to drink enough fluids during periods of high heat.

The experts’ grim predictions come amid fears heatwave-related injuries and illnesses will pile pressure on the already overstretched NHS.

Health experts fear great swathes of the population, especially the elderly and those with dementia, will be hit by heat-related sickness — increasing demand for NHS services.

The NHS itself is also ill-equipped to deal with the mercury rising to these levels, with older buildings not designed to cope with the heat leading some hospitals to shut down wards or cancel operations.

The current heatwave has seen the UK’s autumn start in an unseasonably warm fashion after a disappointing summer when Britain endured its sixth wettest July since records began.

Wood Group win £262m contract with Harbour Energy which will provide hundreds of jobs in Aberdeen

  • Wood revealed the deal will provide hundreds of jobs in the in Aberdeen area

The Wood Group have won a contract with Britain’s largest North Sea oil and gas producer, which it says will provide hundreds of jobs in the Aberdeen area.

The London-listed company said it has entered into a five-year contract with Harbour Energy for $330million (around £262million).

In a statement, Wood said it will ‘provide engineering, procurement and construction and operations and maintenance services, including digital and decarbonisation solutions, for a number of Harbour’s offshore assets critical to UK energy security.’

The Aberdeen-based company said that has entered in a five year contract with Harbour Energy for $330million (around £262million)

The Aberdeen-based company said that has entered in a five year contract with Harbour Energy for $330million (around £262million)

Steve Nicol, Wood’s executive president of operations, said: ‘We are incredibly proud to have been selected and trusted by Harbour Energy to partner with them across their North Sea assets.

‘We share a commitment to ensuring safe, reliable and sustainable energy production and are confident our integrated digital solutions and world-leading engineering, operations and decarbonisation expertise will enable Harbour to maximise their investment and ensure the UK continues to have the energy mix it needs.’

Last week, Harbour Energy revealed it had swung to a small first-half loss as the effect of declining energy prices was compounded by high tax payments.

Britain’s largest North Sea oil and gas producer reported an $8million loss for the six months ending June, having made a $1billion profit for the same period last year.

The company saw turnover from hydrocarbon production plummet by around a quarter to $1.99billion as oil and gas prices slid from their elevated highs.

Nicol added: ‘We have worked on North Sea assets for more than 50 years and excel in designing and managing the complexity of energy infrastructure while at the same time seeking to minimise associated emissions.

‘This new agreement and new contracts are testament to Wood’s role as a trusted technical partner to the energy companies of the future, where our priority is to help our clients deliver the energy the world needs and be able to transition to a low carbon future.’

Audrey Stewart, Harbour Energy’s vice president of supply chain, said: ‘Harbour is excited to develop our relationship with Wood and the signing of this contract is an important step forward in establishing our suite of long-term strategic partnerships across our North Sea assets.’

This partnership will support the employment of hundreds of people from Wood’s Operations business in Aberdeen and offshore across the two EPC and O&M contracts, with further recruitment expected in 2024.

Harbour shares were up by 0.55 per cent to 255p in Monday afternoon trading.

Hundreds of Wilko stores to close after rescue fails

Hundreds of Wilko stores are set to close and thousands of staff will lose their jobs after talks to buy it collapsed without a rescue deal last night.

The 93-year-old chain tumbled into administration this month – putting 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk.

Administrators at PwC have been poring over potential rescue bids for the past week. But last night they said there were no offers for the entire group.

The 93-year-old high street chain tumbled into administration this month - putting 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk

The 93-year-old high street chain tumbled into administration this month – putting 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk

PwC insisted discussions continue ‘with those interested in buying parts of the business’ – raising hopes that some sites and staff may be saved.

Joint administrators Jane Steer, Zelf Hussain and Edward Williams of PwC said: ‘While discussions continue with those interested in buying parts of the business, it’s clear that the nature of this interest is not focused on the whole group.

‘Sadly, it is therefore likely that there will be redundancies and store closures in the future and it has been necessary to update employee representatives.

‘In the immediate term, all stores remain open, continue to trade and staff continue to be paid. Contrary to speculation, there are currently no plans to close any stores next week.’

Potential buyers are thought to include rivals B&M European Value Retail, Poundland, The Range and Home Bargains.

The demise of Wilko marks another bleak day for the High Street following the collapse of newsagent McColl’s last year before its rescue by Morrisons.

In recent years, the High Street has lost names such as Debenhams, Topshop owner Arcadia group and Mothercare owing to the shift to online shopping and side-effects of lockdowns.

‘The loss is a genuine blow for high streets,’ said Sophie Lund-Yates at Hargreaves Lansdown. ‘Unfortunately this is reminiscent of the loss of Woolworths, it’s a heritage brand and chain widely used and loved.’

Wilko was founded in 1930 as a hardware shop in Leicester by James Kemsey Wilkinson, and was known as Wilkinson before taking on the abbreviated form of Wilko in the early 2010s.

Over the years the family-owned firm expanded its range to include DIY products, gardening wares and general home goods. But it has faced stiff competition from cut-price competitors including B&M, The Range and Home Bargains.

Andy Prendergast, GMB national secretary, said: ‘GMB Union will continue to support members through this process and will fight to ensure members are consulted as per the law and that you receive every penny you are entitled to.

‘GMB will not forget the incompetence that has led to this collapse and will we not forget the dividends paid to the millionaires who gambled your jobs on their whims.’

Trade unionists and staff are enraged at bosses’ decisions to pay £77m to owners and former shareholders in the last decade. The chain was controlled by descendants of the founder.

Jonathan Reynolds, Labour’s shadow business secretary, said: ‘This is devastating news that will likely see stores close across the country.’

Taylor Swift fled a restaurant in Long Beach Island, New Jersey after being the cause of a major road being shut down as her presence at pal Jack Antonoff’s star-studded wedding rehearsal dinner caused quite a commotion.

Hundreds of the 33-year-old hitmaker’s diehard fans – known as Swifties – made their way to the Black Whale corner bar just for a chance to get a glimpse of the music icon.

Taylor – who was seen out with pal Ed Sheeran the previous day – is in town to celebrate her 39-year-old music collaborator’s nuptials with 28-year-old actress Margaret Qualley.

The megastar arrived at the star-packed event with Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz to an uproarious ovation from her passionate fans.

Taylor, Zoe, and Channing were not the only stars at the gathering as Lana Del Rey, who has also often collaborated with Antonoff, was also there in addition to mother-of-the-bride Andie MacDowell

Police ended up having to arrive outside of the popular Long Beach Island spot to ensure that the massive crowd was behaving themselves.

Taylor looked absolutely stunning upon her arrival at the Black Whale as she stunned in a two-piece strapless dress.

Her signature dirty blonde locks were worn down into an elegant updo with her fringe hanging to just above her eye.

There were several video’s of Taylor’s presence at the neighborhood bar all over social media including a TikTok of her arrival with the 34-year-old actress and 43-year-old actor from inside of the restaurant.

The scene grew even more chaotic as hundreds of fans could be heard chanting ‘Taylor! Taylor!’ as the wedding rehearsal was in full swing.

Other video footage showed the massive crowds who had lined the street in hopes that they would be able to catch a glimpse of the Bad Blood hitmaker.

Finally after the wedding rehearsal dinner had commenced, Taylor quickly walked down the steps with her thespian pals and made her swift exit alongside a security detail.

Earlier in the day news of the pop megastar’s arrival had spread around the neighborhood amongst locals who made their way to the Black Whale in droves leading to law enforcement having to direct traffic according to Page Six.

At around 8:45pm the eatery ended up shutting the balcony curtains which was a move met with boos by the Swifties in attendance.

The publication reports that the rehearsal dinner had wrapped around 9pm as Swift and Del Rey left promptly.

Black Whale is definitely a change of pace for the megastar who is used to life in the lap of luxury as it is a modest bar and fish house which was established in 2005.

Before this the eatery’s claim to fame was as the neighborhood bar for the township of Beach Haven on Long Beach Island.

Back in May 2022, Qualley confirmed that she was engaged to Antonoff as she took to Instagram to share a snap flashing her diamond engagement ring.

The beauty was hugging and kissing her musician beau in the cozy images. ‘Oh I love him!’ wrote the daughter of Andie MacDowell in her caption.

Rumours swirled on that she was set to marry Antonoff after wearing the ring at the Cannes Film Festival  just weeks before that.

The actress has been attached to Jack since the summer of 2021.

They confirmed they were dating in August 2021, when they were spotted kissing and embracing while strolling around New York City.

As for Swift’s relationship with Antonoff, he has played a major role in her very successful career.

He started working with the singer on her 1989 album, which she won a GRAMMY award for, and is credited as a writer and producer on every Taylor album since.

The two became close after meeting at the MTV European Music Awards in 2012 and has since been hailed by Swift as her ‘friend for life’.

Jack made a cameo in her star-studded Bejeweled music video and joined the star in performing songs from her Folklore album for the Disney+ special film Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.

The musician is the lead singer of rock band Bleachers and was the guitarist and drummer in the pop rock band Fun. He was also the lead singer of the indie rock band Steel Train.

In May last year he credited Taylor for launching his career as a producer, telling The New Yorker: ‘I’d been trying to produce for a while, but there was always some industry herb going, ‘That’s cute, but that’s not your lane.’

‘Taylor was the first person with the stature to go, ‘I like the way this sounds, I’m putting it on my album’ – and then, suddenly, I was allowed to be a producer.’

A seven-year-old boy has been found dead in a burned out car in Maui amid fears children will make up a large number of those who perished in the devastating wildfires. The death toll from the fires increased to 111 on Wednesday night but lawmaker Elle Cochran (pictured bottom right), who is in the Hawaii House of Representatives , said it could grow to hundreds as search operations continue. Cochran fears many of the dead could be children because many schools in Lahaina, the historic town that has been ruined, were closed on the day of the fires due to power outages. A lot of children stayed at home while their parents were at work and might have been trapped and perished.

A kindergarten teacher in Lahaina said that a seven-year-old boy - who is the cousin of two of her former students - was found dead alongside his family in a burned out car. Jessica Sill, who teaches at King Kamehameha III Elementary School, told the Wall Street Journal: 'Our parents work one, two, three jobs just to get by and they can’t afford to take a day off. Without school, there was nowhere for [kids] to go that day.' Public schools on Maui have started the process of reopening and traffic has also resumed on a major road, in signs the painful recovery process is underway. At least three schools untouched by flames in Lahaina, where entire neighborhoods were reduced to ash, were still being assessed after sustaining wind damage, Hawaii Department of Education superintendent Keith Hayashi said.

There are no sirens in the mountains, where the fire was spreading downhill. Hawaii created what it touts as the largest system of outdoor alert sirens in the world after a 1946 tsunami that killed more than 150. Andaya said they are primarily meant to warn about tsunamis and have never been used for wildfires. The website for the Maui siren system says they may be used to alert for fires. Beyond the decision to not use sirens, state and local officials have faced public criticism over shortages of available water to fight the fire and a chaotic evacuation that saw many trapped in their vehicles on a jammed roadway as flames swept over them. Avery Dagupion, whose family's home was destroyed, is angry that residents weren't given earlier warning to get out and that officials prematurely suggested danger had passed.

A seven-year-old boy has been found dead in a burned out car in Maui amid fears children will make up a large number of those who perished in the devastating wildfires.

The death toll from the fires increased to 111 on Wednesday night but lawmaker Elle Cochran, who is in the Hawaii House of Representatives, said it could grow to hundreds as search operations continue.

Cochran fears many of the dead could be children because many schools in Lahaina, the historic town that has been ruined, were closed on the day of the fires due to power outages. A lot of children stayed at home while their parents were at work and might have been trapped and perished.

At least 36 people have been killed in the Hawaii wildfires with the death roll expected to rise as locals continue to ‘pull bodies from the water’ in Maui and frantically search for missing relatives.

Maui firefighters are desperately hunting for survivors in the scorched remains of the historic town of Lahaina, which one resident says has nearly been ‘wiped off the map’.

All of the victims were in Lahaina, the ‘decimated’ town where some 271 buildings have been destroyed by the blaze which has ravaged 800 hectares of land, fanned by powerful winds.

Lahaina, the former capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, was a hub of history and culture on the island.

Now, hundreds of people who lived there are homeless and countless relics have been destroyed.

While the exact source of the fires remain unknown, they began on Tuesday fueled by strong winds from the passing Hurricane Dora. Low humidity and a prolonged drought season which dried trees also contributed to the disaster, according to officials.

As fires closed in all the way up to the shoreline, frantic locals jumped into the water in the harbor to escape the flames on Tuesday night. Twelve people were rescued from the waves by boats.

Governor Josh Green, who had been traveling with his family, today as distraught residents of Lahaina woke up to photos and videos of their homes entirely destroyed.

‘We just had the worst disaster I’ve ever seen. All Lahaina is burnt to a crisp. It’s like an apocalypse,’ said one resident.

Another escaped with his wife, children and dog and slept in a Whole Foods parking lot before waking to the news that their home had been destroyed.

‘We got to this side of the island midnight last night, with my wife and dog, we slept in a parking lot at Whole Foods. We woke up and got on our phones to pictures of our house down to slab. Nothing but smoke and cinders. We have the clothes we got on, a dog and two kids. And here we are,’ he told NBC News.

One local told reporters on Wednesday: ‘We’ve still got dead bodies floating on the seawall. They’ve been sitting there since last night. We’ve been pulling people out since last night, trying to save peoples’ lives.’

Authorities, who had earlier put the death toll at six, are struggling to find shelter for huge numbers of locals and tourists who fled the inferno, while firefighters are making little headway in battling the flames.

Some 11,000 people flew out of Maui yesterday and another 1,500 are expected to leave today if they can.

The wildfires, which have been whipped up by strong winds from Hurricane Dora passing far to the south, took the island of Maui by surprise, leaving behind burned-out cars and smoking piles of rubble where historic buildings  stood.

Flames roared throughout the night, forcing adults and children to dive into the ocean to escape the fire.

The blaze began early on Tuesday, threatening homes, businesses and more than 35,000 people on the island of Maui, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency said. Thousands of tourists at the popular holiday destination are stuck on the island and seeking temporary shelter after being ordered to evacuate.

President Joe Biden has now ordered ‘all available federal assets’ to battle the wildfires and sent in Black Hawks to help douse the flames.

Democratic Senator for Hawaii, Brian Schatz, warned Lahaina has been ‘almost totally burned to the ground’ while a local resident described the town as ‘like a warzone’.

Another witness said it was a scene of ‘utter devastation… It is far from hyperbole to say that Lahaina has been wiped off the map’.

Officials are nervously awaiting a presidential declaration of emergency, which they hope will be made in the coming ‘hours or days’ as the state estimates it is facing billions of dollars of damage.

At a press conference, Lt Governor Sylvia Luke said she had flown over Lahaina, a town of 12,000 people, to see the damage with her own eyes.

‘[It] was just so shocking and devastating… The whole town was devastated, the whole town was decimated,’ she said.

A longtime Maui resident who filmed the scenes of devastation in Lahaina said he would not share some footage as it was too graphic. Emerson Timmins told local news outlet KHON2 News: ‘There were cars abandoned on the road, I assume those people couldn’t get out in time.

‘They probably headed to the ocean, the ones that could make it, and people leaving their homes.

‘If a young person could barely get out of there with their family, then the elderly are trapped, those that are handicapped.

‘It’s terrifying to think about all those families losing their loved ones and their homes.’

Firefighters were still struggling to contain three of the biggest fires raging on the island by midnight on Wednesday – fueling fears that many will wake up on Thursday with their homes scorched to cinders.

Meanwhile, Hawaii Governor Josh Green warned that there is not enough shelter ‘for long-term living’ to aid those several hundreds of residents who have lost homes in the wildfires.

Currently, around 2,000 tourists are in shelters near the island’s airport.

The entirety of West Maui remains without power, and has no landline or cellphone service due to the wildfires.

A mass bus evacuation at Sheraton Maui Resort in Kaʻanapali late on Wednesday took tourist to Kahului Airport where travellers have been desperately trying to board departing flights.

Shelters remain open at War Memorial Gymnasium in Wailuku, Maui High School in Kahului and Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani, the state said early on Thursday morning.

Governor Josh Green told CNN: ‘What we’re trying to do right now is to make sure that anyone who doesn’t need to be in Maui for anything but essential travel does not go to Maui.

‘I’m making a call right now to all the people of Hawaii: If you have an ADU on your property, if you have a rental that’s not occupied right now, we will be promoting a program quite quickly to put people back into shelter.

‘We already struggle with homelessness and a severe shortage of housing in our state, so this of course exacerbates that problem.’

The harbor has been severely impacted – and there is widespread damage to the West Maui town, according to federal forces.

Four helicopters have been deployed for water drops in Lahaina, while two Chinooks, along with four Windward Aviation helicopters and Black Hawks have been called in.

Three helicopters from the US Coast Guard and US Navy were conducting search and rescue along the West Maui coastline late on Thursday night.

Maui Memorial Medical Center announced it had treated seven patients, two of which are in critical condition, for fire-related injuries.

Some are being treated for burns and smoke inhalation. An additional seven patients have been transferred to Oahu for specialty services.

Wade Ebersole, Chief Operations Officer of the hospital said: ‘Our caregivers care deeply about this community’s health and well-being and are working to ensure that all of our patients’ needs are being met.

‘Our hearts and support are with our community and first responders during this challenging time.’

Satellite images, taken before and after the fires erupted, showed the devastation to the landscape and infrastructure.

While tourists usually flock to Lahaina for its white sandy beaches and stunning resorts, for residents it is a town rich with heritage and filled with historical sites.

Locals are fearing that the historic banyan tree in Lahaina, which has stood outside the town’s courthouse for 150 years, may have fallen victim to the flames.

Thought to be the oldest living banyan in Maui, the beautiful tree holds a special meaning for Hawaiians.

‘Only time will tell if it survives the injuries sustained in the fires, but it feels like a small beacon of hope in this disaster,’ said one person on social media.

Video appears to show the famous tree amongst the charred devastation, but still standing strong.

‘Only time will tell if it survives the injuries sustained in the fires, but it feels like a small beacon of hope in this disaster,’ said one person sharing the footage online.

Pictures revealed that the Lahaina Heritage Museum has been incinerated to the point that its roof has collapsed, according to CNN.

The Baldwin Home Museum – where the physician who saved Maui from an epidemic of smallpox lived in the 19th century – has reportedly been destroyed.

The Wo Hing Temple Museum, which was a social and spiritual meeting point for Hawaii’s Chinese immigrant community, has also been burned down in the travesty.

On Wednesday afternoon, Joe Biden called for Federal aid to reach Hawaii on Wednesday evening, and said the U.S. Coast Guard, Navy Third Fleets and U.S Marines are supporting response and rescue efforts.

Mayor Richard Bissen Jr confirmed the devastating fatalities: ‘I’m sad to report that just before coming on this, it was confirmed we’ve had 6 fatalities. We are still in a search and rescue mode.

‘We’ve had many dwellings – businesses, structures – that have been burned, many of them to the ground.

‘As a result of three fires that have occurred that are continuing here on our island we have had 13 evacuations from different neighborhoods and towns, we’ve had 16 road closures, we’ve opened five shelters.’

Power remains out for 11,209 Hawaiians, and the fires are ongoing.

James Kunane Tokioka, the state’s business, economic development and tourism director, said: ‘Local people have lost everything.

‘They’ve lost their house, they’ve lost their animals and it’s devastating.’

The National Weather Service has warned that more destruction is on the way.

Initiating a red flag warning, it said on Wednesday afternoon: ‘Very dry fuels combined with strong and gusty easterly winds and low humidities will produce critical fire weather conditions through the afternoon hours.’

US President Joe Biden said in a statement: ‘Jill and I send our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the wildfires in Maui, and our prayers are with those who have seen their homes, businesses, and communities destroyed.

‘We are grateful to the brave firefighters and first responders who continue to run toward danger, putting themselves in harm’s way to save lives.

‘I have ordered all available Federal assets on the Islands to help with response. The Hawaiian National Guard has mobilized Chinook Helicopters to help with fire suppression and search and rescue on the Island of Maui.

‘The U.S. Coast Guard and Navy Third Fleets are supporting response and rescue efforts. The U.S. Marines are providing Black Hawk Helicopters to fight the fires on the Big Island.

‘The Department of Transportation is working with commercial airlines to evacuate tourists from Maui, and the Department of the Interior and the United States Department of Agriculture stand ready to support post fire recovery efforts.

‘I urge all residents to continue to follow evacuation orders, listen to the instructions of first responders and officials, and stay alert.’

Victoria Wayne-Bowley was born and raised in the historic town of Lahaina. This morning the Hawaiian native woke up to non-stop phone calls from frantic friends and extended family claiming their homes had either burned down or were under threat from the devastating fires that have ravaged Maui.

‘Everyone is sleep deprived not knowing where their loved ones are. I never would have imagined this type of catastrophe. It’s the most devastating disaster in the history of Maui,’ Wayne Bowley told DailyMail.com.

‘The whole Lahaina is a complete wasteland. There were people whose only choice was to jump into the ocean, while the coastguard raced to help them. It looks like Hiroshima.

‘Literally people were driving to dinner last night like everything was safe and in just a short period of time within 24 hours this happened,’ said Wayne-Bowley who lived in Lahaina for 25 years before moving to New Jersey, but still travels to Maui on a regular basis for work.

Wayne-Bowley and her family run a popular clothing company throughout the island called Maui Clothing Company with some 70 employees. As of this afternoon, cell phone usage was dodgy or no longer viable because of the fires.

Her father Edward Wayne founded the business in 1982 which has grown to 14 stores. Three of which are under immediate threat.

‘We still can’t get in touch with our employees. No one is reachable in the Lahaina area,’ Wayne-Bowley explained. ‘I’ve been communicating through email, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

‘I am 99% sure that our original store on Front Street in Lahaina burned down today. My parents opened it in 1982, the year I was born. Back them it was called Lobster & Roses, but the name was changed to the Maui Clothing Company.

‘Our other two stores, Maui WaterWear and Cruise Maui Boutique, are located in another shopping area called Whalers Village in Kaanapali which is also under threat.’

Both locations are Lahaina’s most popular tourist destinations for shopping.

‘It’s really sad to see this scale of devastation. We have family and friends that started restaurants and stores decades ago, only to be destroyed. There are historical landmarks that have been burned down.’

‘We don’t know all the details, but these are nostalgic places that people have gone to for the past 50 years that are no longer there.’

‘I feel sad. It’s devastating. It’s tragic and it’s heartbreaking. You feel like everyone is your family on the island and everyone treats each other like family.’

Longtime friend and well known dermatologist in Lahaina, Dr. George Martin narrowly escaped the deadly fire which came within just 1/4 mile away from his ranch with one hundred animals.

‘Our close friend Dr. Martin has close to one hundred animals, horses, chickens, ponies. He had to evacuate them all last and fortunately people from other parts of the island offered to help. That’s what people are like here. Everyone is helping and posting messages online saying they have land and to bring your animals.’

A disheartened local shared a heartbreaking Instagram post saying, ‘My brother says there are bodies on the ground in Lahaina.’

Devastating aerial video shows the extent of the damage in Lahaina, where thousands of locals fled in the dead of the night to escape being trapped.

Claire Kent, who was among those who took to the water in boats, said she had lost ‘everything’.

‘I am out of Lahaina, safe with a few friends in Waiehu. My home is gone, my town is gone, my job is gone. We lost everything.

‘This is the scariest thing I have ever experienced. So incredibly devastated.’

Multiple burn patients were today flown out of Maui to Honolulu to be cared for as the ‘apocalyptic’ blazes rage on.

The fires, fanned by strong winds from Hurricane Dora, have burned structures, forced evacuations and caused power outages in several communities.

The worst of the fires is on Maui. One is torching parts of northern Wailea – where tourist hotels like the Four Seasons and Hilton scatter the beach – and another has destroyed the town of Lahaina.

A worker at the Four Seasons Wailea told DailyMail.com that the resort has not been affected aside from ‘some air quality issues’. The $990-a-night hotel is where the first season of The White Lotus was filmed.

A Lahaina resident whose home was burned down but stayed in the town to help told Hawaii News Now: ‘We’re gonna do our best to get past this and it’s gonna be tough… It’s going to take years to fix. This is not even the worst of it.’

‘This is an unprecedented disaster as an indirect result of Hurricane Dora passing just south of our island. It is truly devastating and my heart goes out to the residents of Maui and all those impacted,’ Lt. Governor Sylvie Luke said Wednesday morning.

One fire in Kula, central Maui, is raging near to where Oprah recently purchased hundreds of acres of land.

‘This is so unprecedented. An emergency in the night is terrifying… right now it is all-hands-on-deck and we are anxious for daybreak,’ Maui County spokesperson Mahina Martin said in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

‘We are already in communication with other hospital systems about relieving the burden — the reality is that we need to fly people out of Maui to give them burn support because Maui hospital cannot do extensive burn treatment.

‘In addition to dealing with disaster, we’re dealing with major transportation issues as well,’ she told CNN on Wednesday.

‘911 is down. Cell service is down. Phone service is down. That’s been part of the problem. The Maui County has not been able to communicate with residents on the west side, the Lahaina side.

‘What we are trying to do is deploy individuals to go into areas with satellite phone service.

‘We have only been in contact with perhaps one hotel because the one hotel, the people in charge of that hotel have satellite phones. That’s the only way you can make connection.

‘It’s impeding communication. It’s impeding efforts to evacuate residents and we are very concerned about that,’ she said.

Fire chiefs yesterday warned residents to evacuate their homes before it is too late.

‘The fire can be a mile or more from your house, but in a minute or two, it can be at your house. Burning airborne materials can light fires a great distance away from the main body of fire,’ Maui County Fire Assistant Chief Jeff Giesea said.

Fire crews on Maui were battling multiple blazes concentrated in two areas: the popular tourist destination of West Maui and an inland, mountainous region.

Footage shot from a yacht in Lahaina Mooring Field in Maui shows the sky bruising as huge plumes of smoke rise from the fires.

Video also shows fires raging through a residential area in Maui surrounded by grassland with black smoke billowing into the sky.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) are back online following a four-hour outage that impacted hundreds of websites that use the company’s cloud hosting service, including Delta Airlines, TikTok and IMDB.

DownDetector monitors online outages and showed hundreds of thousands of issue reports from users worldwide who were unable to access AWS or websites that use that platform.

AWS provides cloud computing services to individuals, universities, governments and companies worldwide, such as servers, storage, networking, remote computing, email, mobile development and security.

The problems, which hit at 2:49 pm ET, stemmed from a subsystem responsible for capacity management for AWS Lambda at a data center in Virginia.

AWS Lambda lets customers run code for different types of applications.

The platform’s Health Dashboard states, ‘ as of 6:37 pm, the backlog was fully processed… and all AWS Services are operating normally.’

The incident at Amazon Web Services disrupted everything from airline reservations and auto dealerships to payment apps and video streaming services to Amazon’s own massive e-commerce operation.

That included The Associated Press, whose publishing system was inoperable for much of the day – the outlets said the blackout happened as Donald Trump was in court today.

Along with commerce sites, video games like Fornite, PUBG Battlegrounds and Dead by Daylight were also offline.

AWS’ service health dashboard showed ‘degradation’ among four services: AWS CloudFormation, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway and Amazon Connect.

When AWS goes down, so do other websites that use its services, which is an embarrassing blow to the Amazon-owned platform – these companies, universities, individuals and governments pay to use the services.

AWS did not acknowledge the outage on its social media platforms but provided this message on the health dashboard: ‘We continue to experience increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region.

‘We have identified the root cause as an issue with AWS Lambda and are actively working toward resolution.’

However, AWS Support responded to a frustrated user on Twitter who tweeted that AWS console was down.

‘Sorry for the trouble & any concerns this has caused, Gabriel. I can confirm we’re currently investigating the increased error rates and latencies. Feel free to refer to the AWS Health Dashboard to view further,’ the reply tweet reads.

A similar out hit AWS in 2021 – but this incident lasted for eight hours and disrupted Amazon’s shipping operations just weeks before Christmas.

The December outage shut down communications between the e-commerce giant and the fleet of thousands of drivers it relies on, preventing drivers from getting route assignments or packages.

Issues hit the app Amazon uses to communicate with the network of independent contractors who carry out much of its last-mile shipping, leaving vans that were supposed to be on the road idle, sources told Bloomberg.

Amazon Web Services was formerly run by Andy Jassy, who succeeded founder Jeff Bezos as Amazon CEO in July.

The cloud-service operation is a huge profit center for Amazon. It holds roughly a third of the $152 billion market for cloud services, according to a report by Synergy Research – a larger share than its closest rivals, Microsoft and Google, combined.
