Cher revealed the secrets to how she preserves her youthful looks at the age of 77 during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Monday.

The singer who admitted that she ‘couldn’t believe she will be 80 soon’, revealed what she won’t be doing, the older she gets.

Speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, who asked her how she stays so young and radiant, Cher said she would ‘never cut her hair short or stop wearing jeans’.

The mantra came as a surprise to host Susanna, who debuted a shorter hairstyle on the show, having cut her hair aged 52. 

Yet Cher explained: ‘I remember when my friend Paulette and I were talking about when we were going to cut our hair and stop wearing jeans.’

She continued: ‘I can’t believe I will be 80 at some point, sooner than I wish. And I will still be wearing my jeans and I will still be wearing long hair.

‘Genes in my family are pretty amazing.

‘I don’t know if not feeling old makes you younger. I’m not sure. I keep up with the trends and I have lots of young friends. 

‘I have old friends too. Honestly, I’m not trying to feel young, I’m not trying to be young, I am what I am, whatever that means.’

Host Susanna later took the debate to X (formerly known as Twitter) as she spoke about her own change in appearance. 

Sharing a before and after snap with her shorter hair, she penned: ‘The mid-life hair debate! At 52 I’ve had the CHOP. But Cher told me this morning, women should keep it LONG as they grow older. What do YOU think?’

Cher had appeared on the ITV breakfast show to speak about the time she rescued the World’s Loneliest Elephant in 2020.

Cher helped free the malnourished Asian elephant, named Kavaan, who had spent nearly 20 years chained up in a zoo. 

The actress said it was ‘so amazing’ to see Kavaan change his behaviour so quickly, once his surroundings improved.

She said: ‘When I first saw him, you saw him do the swaying thing, which means an elephant is in distress or having a breakdown.

‘So when I first saw him I knew what was going on because I knew the signs. I sang to him… really badly, but he was so beautiful. 

‘I was happy because it had taken us give years so I’d already had my pain five years before that and when I saw him I thought this is going to be so great.

‘I didn’t know how long it would take or if he would ever change that behaviour, but the night that we took him to the sanctuary, he came out of stress so quickly it was amazing.’

In May, the icon spoke openly about turning 77 in a candid post on Twitter and mused about not feeling old in the slightest.

Her post about her ageless beauty comes after her recent breakup with 37-year-old boyfriend Alexander ‘A.E.’ Edwards, who she reportedly ‘still cares’ for and could possibly reunite with in the future.

Cher tweeted: ‘Ok, Will Someone PLEASE Tell me…..When Will I Feel OLD. This is ridiculous. I keep hearing these numbers, but I Honestly can’t understand them. 

‘WHATS THE DEAL WITH #’s!? I’m dyslexic & #’s Are hard 4 me. Thank u for staying, I know it’s been hard. Got to go work out. Twitter is harder for me than TweetBot.’

Although, the If I Could Turn Back Time star split from Alexander, who is nearly four decades her junior, pals say the pair still have strong feelings for one another.

A source close to the star told the DailyMail that the legendary performer (born Cherilyn Sarkisian) has had an on/off relationship with A.E., sparking rumors of a possible reunion: ‘Cher is mercurial. And she changes her mind every minute.’ 

The source explained: ‘She actually really cares about A.E., and now that she’s closer to her kids, she wants more stability in her life. Although it’s off for now, no one in her close circle would be surprised to see them back together.

Cher is twice divorced and has son, Chaz Bono, 53, with her late ex-husband Sonny Bono who died in 1998 at age 62 from injuries sustained after hitting a tree while skiing. 

She was later married from 1975 to 1978 to late singer Gregg Allman who died in 2017 at age 69. Cher and Gregg had son Elijah Blue Allman, 46, together.

Cher has previously said she dates younger men – after dating Ron Zimmerman, who is 12 years her junior, Tom Cruise, when he was 23 and she was 38, and Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora, who is 13 years younger than her.

She also dated entertainment executive David Geffen after splitting with Bono and dated for two years in the mid-70s. 

Amy Dowden issued a health update on Sunday as she underwent her second round of chemotherapy.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 33, recently revealed that doctor’s discovered she has ‘another type of cancer‘ following her initial breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

In an emotional Instagram post, Amy revealed she is ‘heartbroken’ as her hair has started to shred.

She told her followers: ‘Wanted to be open and honest with you all from the start. So this cycle, I started feeling sick soon as second lot of ‘red devil’ was going in. Got home very tired and started being sick (even with all the anti sickness), by Friday afternoon the sickness stopped and just waves of nausea. 

‘Still taking anti sickness now. Hardly any sleep due to steroids and insomnia they bring with them. Didn’t have any last cycle but some lovely mouth ulcer friends this time round.

‘But I’ve managed some walks, lovely homemade soups and smoothies and feeling even better today. The little wins!’

Amy went into detail about the fact that she is beginning to lose her hair. She added: ‘What I’ve found harder this time round and the last few days is hair shredding. Even though I’m cold capping you hope to keep 50% of your hair and there are also many benefits to the hair growing back quicker too.

‘But as much as I prepared myself waking up everyday gently combing my hair with a wide comb and seeing what comes out, it is just heartbreaking personally for me. I’m only washing my hair once, max twice, this week, not using any heat on my hair or styling it so I just don’t feel like me.

‘So it’s time to bring out the wig I say and get used to this and help me feel like me. I’m still Amy! Some days last week I’d wake and for the first few seconds you forget and then suddenly it all hits you, the day and challenges ahead and your new reality and it’s tough – had a few morning cries and learning that’s OK too.’

She then thanked everyone for their messages of support, penning: ‘Thank you again for all the lovely messages asking how I am, want to be open and honest and hopefully help others going through or those supporting those on their journeys too! 

‘Again thanks to my family, friends and you guys for my lovely messages, I read them all, just don’t always have the energy to reply but I want you to know it really helps, means more than you will ever know! Not taken for granted and really appreciated and noticed! 

‘You truly see how lucky you are to have amazing loved ones around you! Love to you all.’

Earlier this month, Amy celebrated her 33rd birthday with her twin sister Becky and shared a throwback photo to Instagram.

She heartbreakingly admitted that ‘any milestone is a reminder’ at the moment and ‘it hurts’ as she is far from what she ‘should be doing normally.’

The dancer added that her birthday wish was fo everyone to check themselves as she works to raise awareness.

In the throwback photo from Amy’s wedding, she and Becky looked glamorous as they got ready for the big day.

She captioned the update: ‘Happy birthday to my beautiful, kind, talented twin! Hope your day is as lovely as you and for sure next year we are making up for it! Love you Bex and thank you for everything you always do for me.

‘I wasn’t looking forward to this birthday. At the moment any milestone or event is a bigger reminder and hurts.’

‘I’m far from what I should and normally doing, in the rehearsal room with my strictly family. But all your wishes this morning have certainly cheered me up. This year my birthday wish is for all to take the time to check themselves!

‘Coppa Feel have so many useful resources! Doesn’t take long! That’s my birthday wish! Thank you so much again for all the love and support it really does help and mean so much to me. Welsh love Amy x’

The previous week, Amy gave fans an emotional update after completing her first round of chemotherapy.

After undergoing the treatment, Amy offered a brave face to the camera as she smiled sweetly in her hospital bed.

Covered in blankets and wearing a cold cap, the star admitted the experience ‘wasn’t as bad’ as she thought and quipped that she was ‘one step closer to being back on the dance floor’.

Heading home, Amy also posed outside the hospital, holding up one finger.

Amy was first diagnosed with aggressive stage three breast cancer in May.

She found a lump while preparing for her honeymoon with husband Ben Jones in April and shared her diagnosis weeks later.

The professional dancer has since had an operation, a mastectomy and has had fertility treatment.

You’ve blamed sleeping on your head funny, the heat, the humidity, and your new shampoo — but bad hair days all come down to our genes, according to a new study.

The flow and shape that your hair takes are dictated by ‘whorls,’ a patch growing in a circular pattern typically near the crown of your head. And scientists have now discovered four genetic variants that alter the whorls’ direction and appearance.

The whorl’s point is dictated by the orientation of hair follicles, and the whorls are easily identifiable from person to person.

Patterns are usually defined by the whorl number, single crown or double crown, as well as by the whorl direction, clockwise, counterclockwise or even diffuse.

Some people with double crowns worry they are going bald, and diffuse whorl motion can be hard to keep in line, but the new research had more serious medical interests in mind than the DNA behind a perfectly coifed hairdo.

Atypical whorl patterns have been spotted in patients with abnormal neurological development — leading medical doctors and geneticists to take a look at if there might be an actual hereditary connection between the two. 

Genetic variants 7p21.3, 5q33.2, 7q33 and 14q32,13 were found to influence the hair whorl direction by shifting the shape of the hair follicles.

But early life developmental changes, including cranial neural tube closure and nervous system growth during the formation of the fetus, will also play a key role, according to the new research undertaken by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

‘We know very little about why we look like we do,’ said the study’s lead investigator, Dr. Sijia Wang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health.

‘Our group has been looking for the genes underlying various interesting traits of physical appearance, including fingerprint patterns, eyebrow thickness, earlobe shape and hair curliness,’ Dr. Wang said.

‘Hair whorl is one of the traits that we were curious about. The prevailing opinion was that hair whorl direction is controlled by a single gene, exhibiting Mendelian inheritance.’

Dr. Wang and the academy’s team of researchers studied the whorls and full genomes of 2,149 Chinese people, and then another 1,950 Chinese nationals to replicate their own results for their study, published today in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.

The results showed a strong correlation between the four genetic variants and certain whorl behaviors. 

But no less importantly, the study found some suggestive but preliminary evidence which discounted the idea that unusual hair whorls and developmental brain issues might be linked. 

‘Our results demonstrate that hair whorl direction is influenced by the cumulative effects of multiple genes, suggesting a polygenic inheritance,’ Dr. Wang said.

‘Previous work proposed the hypothesis of associations between hair whorl patterns and abnormal neurological development,’ he noted. 

‘No significant genetic associations were observed between hair whorl direction and behavioral, cognitive, or neurological phenotypes,’ according to he and his co-researchers’ large genetic study.

‘Although we still know very little about why we look like we do,’ Dr. Wang said, ‘we are confident that curiosity will eventually drive us to the answers.’

Angelina Jolie looked effortlessly stylish on Monday as she was spotted out in New York City while accompanied by her children: son Pax and daughters Zahara and Shiloh.

The 48-year-old actress and humanitarian had all eyes on her as she emerged from an SUV in a cool tan double-breasted trench coat that she wore partially buttoned.

Pax, 19, had brought along a professional-looking camera affixed with a telephoto lens.

The mother–son outing comes amid Angelina’s ongoing conflict with her ex-husband Brad Pitt over the custody of their children and her decision to sell her half of their interest in his beloved French vineyard Miraval to a Russian oligarch.

Those conflicts seemed far from Angelina’s mind on Monday, though, and she looked care-free.

Angelina added a touch of glamour to her trench coat by wearing a sleek black dress underneath it.

She elevated her 5ft7in stature with a set of classic black pumps, and her coat was short enough to showcase her trim legs. 

The Tomb Raider star carried along a large beige tote bag and she sported a large set of black sunglasses.

Earlier this month, Angelina debuted a new blonde dye job, which she continued to show off while out and about in the Big Apple.

The change from her usual brunette tresses was reminiscent of a period in the 1990s when she went blond, though she has mostly stuck to her darker hair since then.

Jolie wore her hair blond for one of her most acclaimed performances in 1999’s Girl, Interrupted. The psychological drama, which was led by Winona Ryder, earned Jolie her only Academy Award to date for best supporting actress.

Pax contrasted his mother with a casual look featuring a long-sleeve white graphic shirt that he paired with black jeans.

The celebrity child added a splash of color to his outfit with weathered yellow sneakers, and he capped it off with a black flat-billed hat. 

Shiloh, 17, rocked a hoodie pulled over her head with coordinating trousers and maroon sneakers.

Zahara, 18, wore a black dress and jacket for their family outing. 

Their comes amid her seemingly never-ending divorce negotiations from her 2016 split from Brad Pitt, 59.

Brad and Angelina are parents to six kids: Maddox, 21, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne, 14. 

They have been in a dispute over their once-beloved French winery, Chateau Miraval, after Jolie sold off her half of the business to a Russian oligarch, apparently without Pitt’s knowledge, which was detailed in a recent Vanity Fair article.

The report notes that in 2021, Jolie and Pitt appeared to have come to an agreement in which he would purchase her half of the business. The deal stalled when Pitt tried to insert an NDA that would prevent the Maleficent star from publicly talking about their infamous argument in front of their kids on a private jet in 2016, according to the Vanity Fair piece. 

Representatives for Pitt have maintained that in fact it was Jolie who first broached the idea of an NDA, when the 12 Monkeys star began negotiating about the contents of the agreement, that’s when Jolie backed away from the deal. 

Not long afterwards, Jolie sold her share to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler, who has been designated as an ‘oligarch’ by the US Treasury Department.

Both Pitt’s attorneys, and anonymous sources quoted in Vanity Fair’s piece, alleged that Jolie decided to sell her half of the business after Pitt was granted a win in their custody battle with a 50–50 time-sharing arrangement.

Sources close to Jolie denied that that was her motivation and said she had every right to sell her share to move on from her painful connection to her ex-husband.
