Patricia Arquette was joined by her daughter Harlow Jane for the premiere of her directorial debut, Gonzo Girl, during the Toronto International Film Festival, held at the Royal Alexandra Theatre on Thursday. 

The Medium star, 55, displayed her trim frame in a chic black leather skirt with a side zipper, a white silk blouse, and a black satin jacket.

The actress – who recently stepped out with sister Rosanna Arquette following her Malibu shopping center car crash – added some height to her look with a pair of chunky gold heels and wore her light blonde tresses in a straight style. 

Meanwhile Harlow, 20, was a vision in a striped multi-color gown with beaded fringe sleeves. Arquette’s daughter – born Harlow Olivia Calliope Jane – also sported a pin in support of the SAG-AFTRA strikes. 

Other stars at the Canadian festival included William Dafoe as well as Camila Morrone, who both star in the film.  

Patricia wore gentle glam for the night, while Harlow opted for black eyeliner and a matte shade of peachy lipstick. 

Harlow’s father is Arquette’s ex-husband, actor Thomas Jane, to whom she was married from 2006 to 2011. 

Harlow has followed in her parents’ footsteps with her acting career, and even starred alongside mom Patricia on Apple TV+ comedy High Desert this year, as a younger version of Patricia’s character.

Harlow previously revealed she initially rebelled against being an actress.

‘I definitely rebelled against it for as long as I could,’ she told People in an interview.

‘And then when I got into high school, I ended up going to this very arts-heavy boarding school, and I took a theater class. And that’s when I decided, “Yeah, I don’t know if I can not do this anymore for the rest of my life.” I can’t live a lie of wanting to be anything else.’

She added, ‘I couldn’t help but secretly love it.’

Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex-girlfriend Camila Morrone, 26, also attended the premiere, and had all eyes on her in a beautiful sleeveless black gown with a beaded bodice.

The actress wore delicate glowing glam for the occasion, and her brunette locks were parted in the middle, gently falling down her shoulders. 

Joining her on the red carpet was Willem Dafoe, 68.

Ever the gentleman the actor escorted Camilla down the red carpet hand-in-hand. 

The actor cut a dapper figure in a fitted black suit, but opted to go without a tie for the occasion.

Dafoe stars as Walker Reade in the drama film.

Actress Bleu Sidel, 28, who is the daughter of Patricia’s sister Rosanna Arquette, looked incredible in an emerald gown with a head scarf.

She paired the mesmerizing ensemble with electric blue pointed-toe heels.

Gonzo Girl is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Cheryl Della Pietra and will be adapted by Rebecca Thomas and Jessica Caldwell.  

It takes place in 1992 and follows an aspiring writer named Alley Russo (Morrone) who has an exciting new job as assistant to legendary ‘gonzo journalist’ Walker Reade (Dafoe) where she lives on his compound/party house in Aspen. 

The synopsis continues according to Deadline: ‘Under orders to help the famously chaotic Walker settle down to work on his long-promised latest blur of fact and fiction, Alley soon learns the truth: a lifetime of chronic substance abuse has chipped away at Walker’s writing ability, until all he can produce from his drug-drenched brain are pages of word salad.

‘Obliged to help a manic, sodden blowhard get through one relatively uncreative day after another, Alley begins to transform Walker’s rants and raves into publishable prose by running it through the filter of her own mind and her own typewriter, an act of moral support / plagiarism / treachery that keeps Walker’s career alive — for a few more months.’

Arquette will also star on the project as Claudia, the minder and manager for many years, of ‘gonzo journalist’ Reade.

Gonzo journalism is a style of journalism that is written without claims of objectivity, often including the reporter as part of the story using a first-person narrative.

Lili Reinhart and boyfriend Jack Martin touched down at Venice’s Marco Polo Airport for the city’s Film Festival on Thursday.

The American actress, 26, cut a casual figure after her long flight in a white vest which she teamed with boot cut jeans.

Make-up free Lili donned a black baseball cap and toted her essentials in a rucksack to which she tied a Christian Dior scarf.

Meanwhile TikToker Jack, 26, who confirmed his relationship with the Riversdale star earlier this month, donned a floral shirt which he teamed with skinny jeans. 

The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world, with its 80th edition having opened on Wednesday. 

The festival opened with the premiere of Italian World War Two film Comandante, directed by Edoardo De Angelis. The event will run until September 9 and closes with a Spanish-language Netflix drama Society of the Snow.

The Festival takes place on the Venice Lido – the so-called beach of Venice – a thin barrier island in the Venetian Lagoon, which is a short boat trip from the main city of Venice. Unlike Venice itself, cars have access to the Lido.

The festival marks the start of the awards season and regularly throws up big favourites for the Oscars. Eight of the past 11 best director awards at the Oscars went to films that debuted at Venice.

There are several categories making up the official selection of films shown, the top being those competing for the coveted Golden Lion award.

New films by directors including Bradley Cooper, Yorgos Lanthimos, David Fincher, Michael Mann, Sofia Coppola, Ava DuVernay and Ryusuke Hamaguchi will compete for the prestigious award.

Movie stars and directors traditionally enjoy travelling to the lagoon city to launch their films. However, this year will offer a bit less sparkle than usual because a Hollywood actors’ strike will prevent many stars from promoting their work here.

The festival’s artistic director Alberto Barbera is putting a brave face on the expected disruption and has managed to attract one of the strongest line-ups in recent years, defying dire predictions of a mass no-show by big studio productions.

‘We know that some talent will not be able to attend … But some others will come because they are working in the independent films. So everything is good. It looks very positive.’

Away from Venice’s picture-perfect canals, a sense of crisis pervades the movie-making business, with strikes by both the main U.S. actors and writers’ unions bringing much of the entertainment industry to a standstill.

‘If the strikes last longer, it will have a huge, negative impact on the next (release) season and the awards season as well,’ Barbera said.

Nobody in Hollywood wants to be seen doing the wrong thing by the strikers and the whole film and TV industry has ground to a complete stop.

The writers union, the WGA, went on strike on May 2nd, and were followed by SAG-AFTRA, the actors union, on July 14th.

Ferrari actors (and writers) can attend with out breaking the strikes as the film has been given an exemption because it was made by an independent, Neon, not a studio.

The stars of the film Priscilla, about Priscilla Presley’s life, can also attend without breaking the strike as it was made in Canada.

If you’re unfortunate enough to experience a flight delay or cancellation, you could be entitled to compensation.

Here we reveal the circumstances that trigger a cash pay out. 

FLIGHT DELAYS

New data from the Civil Aviation Authority shows one in three trips were delayed by at least 15 minutes last year.

Delayed passengers could be entitled to free meals and compensation of up to £520 – and this section helps you understand how.

ASSISTANCE

Airline passengers delayed by two hours or more could be entitled to assistance such as two free phone calls or emails, free meals and refreshments, free hotel accommodation and hotel transfers, according to Which?, outlining the following:

Short-haul – Passengers flying up to 932 miles (1,500km) with a delay time of at least two hours are entitled to assistance.

Medium-haul – Passengers flying between 932 miles (1,500km) and 2,175 miles (3,500km) with a delay time of at least three hours are entitled to assistance.

Long-haul – Passengers flying more than 2,175 miles (3,500km) with a delay time of at least four hours are entitled to assistance.

Delayed passengers who meet the above criteria can contact their airline or approach staff at the airport for further information.

SEVERE DELAYS

Passengers whose flight has been delayed by more than five hours are ‘entitled to choose between being rerouted on a different flight or getting a refund’, Which? says.

Passengers can also request flight delay compensation, according to the watchdog, ‘if the delay is not due to extraordinary circumstances’. These include bad weather, strikes unrelated to the airline, such as with baggage handlers, acts of terrorism or sabotage, drone disruption and long security queues.

Claims are valid for up to six years after the flight if it flew in or out of the UK, it adds.

COMPENSATION 

Passengers of delayed flights are protected by the Denied Boarding Regulation if their flight departs from the UK or Europe or is operated by a UK or European airline, Which? says.

‘If you’re travelling with a non-EU based airline flying from a non-EU destination, the airline doesn’t have the same duty to look after you,’ it adds.

‘But you can check the airline’s ‘conditions of carriage’ to see what compensation you are entitled to.’

HOW TO CLAIM COMPENSATION

‘If your flight arrives at its destination more than three hours late, each affected passenger is entitled to claim flight delay compensation,’ Which? says.

The total value of compensation depends on the length and distance of the delayed flight as well as the reason for the delay, it adds.

Passengers can make a claim under the EU Denied Boarding Regulation if they meet the criteria, listed in a table by Which?, below.

HOW MUCH ARE YOU ENTITLED TO?

Short-haul – Passengers flying up to 932 miles (1,500km) who are delayed for more than three hours are entitled to £220, according to Which?

Medium-haul within the EU – Passengers flying more than 932 miles (1,500km) within the EU who are delayed more than three hours are entitled to £350 compensation, the watchdog says.

Medium-haul outside the EU – Passengers flying between 932 miles (1,500km) and 2,175 miles (3,500km) who are delayed more than three hours are entitled to £350 compensation, Which? explains.

Long-haul – Passengers flying more than 2,175 miles (3,500km) are entitled to £260 in compensation if they are delayed between three and four hours, or £520 if they are delayed longer than this, according to the site.

CONNECTING FLIGHTS

‘Passengers flying with a non-EU airline are entitled to compensation if a flight departing from the UK is delayed by at least three hours at the final destination,’ says Which?

The ‘final destination’ of a connecting flight refers to the last airport listed on the passenger’s ticket, it adds.

OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES

As well as compensation, some passengers are entitled to claim ‘extra out-of-pocket expenses under the Montreal Convention’, Which? says.

Examples are if you miss a night of pre-booked accommodation, miss a concert you have bought tickets to, or a day of car rental you have paid for, it adds.

FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS

COMPENSATION

Passengers travelling with a UK or EU-based airline, or flying from a UK or EU airport, should receive help from the company if their flight is cancelled, Which? says.

‘This is because your flight is protected by the Denied Boarding Regulation,’ it adds.

Depending on the circumstances, passengers could be entitled to ‘a refund or alternative flight, food, phone calls and accommodation, and flight cancellation compensation’, the watchdog further explains.

HOW TO CLAIM COMPENSATION

Which? says passengers can claim compensation for cancelled flights unless it is affected by ‘extraordinary circumstances’, as explained earlier in this article.

But even if extraordinary circumstances apply, you are ‘still entitled to meals, refreshments, accommodation and hotel transfers depending on the length of your flight and delay’, the consumer watchdog adds.

HOW MUCH COMPENSATION ARE YOU ENTITLED TO?

Short-haul – Passengers travelling less than 932 miles (1,500km) whose new flight takes off more than one hour before their original flight and arrives less than two hours after it are entitled to £110 in compensation, according to Which?.

If the passengers’ flight arrives more than two hours after the original flight, they are entitled to £220 in compensation, it adds.

Medium-haul – Passengers travelling 932 miles (1,500km) to 2,175 miles (3,500km) whose new flight departs more than one hour before their original flight and arrives less than three hours after it are entitled to £175 in compensation, Which? says.

If the passengers’ flight arrives more than three hours after their original flight, they are entitled to £350 in compensation, it adds.

Long-haul – Passengers travelling more than 2,175 miles (3,500km) whose new flight departs more than one hour before their original flight and arrives less than four hours after it are entitled to £260 in compensation, Which? says.

If the passengers’ flight arrives more than four hours after their original flight, they are entitled to £520 in compensation, it adds.

The figures above are for flights cancelled less than seven days before departure. 

CONNECTING FLIGHTS

‘If a connecting flight during your journey is affected by a delay and you departed from the UK or an EU country, you can still claim compensation,’ Which? says.

‘For example, if you were flying from Manchester to Sydney, connecting in Singapore, but your Singapore to Sydney flight was delayed, you’d still be entitled.’

HOW TO APPEAL A DECISION

Unresolved complaints about an airline can be escalated to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme and a list of approved providers are listed on the Civil Aviation Authority website, Which? says.

Airline passengers can also gain extra peace of mind at the airport by taking out travel insurance, says Quotezone.

CEO Greg Wilson said: ‘Depending on the type of policy, some travel insurance providers will offer cover for a delayed flight of over 24 hours, or if an alternative travel option hasn’t been offered.

‘Insurance policies for missed or delayed flight departure will pay for costs incurred from delayed flights or if travellers miss the trips because of a situation out of their control – such as getting into a serious accident and being taken to hospital.’

He adds: ‘In the case of an airline going bust before passengers are able to get home, taking out the right travel insurance before jetting off will help give travellers protection.’

On Sunday, Charlotte Dawson was seen for the first time since giving birth to baby Jude, just one week ago.

The TV personality, 30, welcomed her second child, another baby boy, with her fiancé Matthew Sarsfield, last weekend. 

And Charlotte, who is already mum to two-year-old Noah, displayed her amazing postpartum figure in a chic summer dress as she took her boys for Sunday lunch.

The Ex On The Beach star looked fabulous in the white frock alongside her two sons, as they joined friends at Lytham House restaurant in St Annes, Lancashire.

Charlotte’s gorgeous midi dress boasted a sweetheart neckline and ruffled sleeves, and she teamed the garment with a pair of white slides.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Charlotte shared a breastfeeding photo and gave fans a glimpse of how she was feeling as she opened up on her ‘hormonal’ first week with her newborn son, and admitted she ‘can’t stop crying’.

Appearing teary-eyed, she asked followers: ‘Guys is it normal to just cry… all the time? I can’t stop crying. I don’t know what’s up with me. 

‘I’m crying because I’ve not got Noah in my bed. I’m crying because I’ve not got Matthew in bed. I’m crying because I love Jude so much. 

‘I’m crying because I feel like I’ve not got enough time for Noah. I’m crying because I’m in pain. I’m crying happy tears, obviously. But it’s just mad isn’t it with your hormones just everywhere? It’s crazy.’

Sharing another snap with her two boys, Charlotte issued fans with another update about her ‘breastfeeding week’.

Charlotte looked happier than ever as she posed alongside her sons whilst she fed Jude, while she penned: ‘I just love this natural pic my friend captured yesterday.. me with both my boys. this is my life right now. 

‘As it’s breastfeeding week I’m loving my journey this time round with Jude, even though I forgot how bloody toe curling the first week is, nipples are cracked but I’m keeping going I did 8 months with Noah.. but not putting pressure on myself. 

‘But like I’ve said a fed baby is a happy baby whatever we choose to do.’

Charlotte revealed she had named her new baby boy Jude Dawson Sarsfield on Monday, as she told her followers he arrived just an hour after they reached the hospital.

Sharing a gallery of snaps following her speedy labour, Charlotte revealed she originally planned to have a caesarean section, but ended up having a natural birth without pain relief after her son’s head ‘came out on the theatre table.’

Charlotte and Matt already share son Noah, and welcomed their second child after suffering a miscarriage at 10 weeks in April 2022. 

In her post, Charlotte wrote: ‘He’s here… our little rainbow Jude Dawson Sarsfield came into the world on the 30th July at 02:13am, weighing 8lb 8oz.

‘He made his speedy entrance in an hour of us getting to hospital.. I was adamant for a section but his head came out on the theatre table with no chuffin pain relief guys!!!

‘Everybody did warn me saying your second baby flies out… hahahaha I wish I did listen, well my birthing plan went completely the other way… 

‘I pushed nearly a 9 pounder out, but our little judey baby is a dream come true, happy & healthy and we are so in love.

‘I can’t wait for Noah to meet him & be the best big brother… special they had the same hats on when they were born, massive thank you to Blackpool midwives, nurses & doctors for being amazing & listening to me scream the hospital down.

‘Love you all thank you for all your messages, currently in our little baba bubble, crazy to think I was having contractions this time last night… 

But thought it was another false alarm, deffo wasn’t HES CHUFFIN ERE our boyo @matt_sarsfield our family is now complete.. the 4 musketeers.’

Charlotte also shared a gallery of snaps cradling her newborn son, including one taken mere seconds after he was born.
