Looking for someone to hang out with: Parents peg details of their children on a washing line in bid to find them a partner

Singletons in China are being hung out to dry by their matchmaking parents, who are advertising details about them on a washing-line in a bid to marry them off.

The bizarre dating ritual takes place at People’s Park in Shanghai, where parents peg out information about their grown-up sons and daughters in the hope of finding them an eligible life partner.

The adverts include details such as their child’s age, height, educational background, profession and income.

The typical requirement of a prospective groom is that he be a ‘responsible man with stable income’ or someone ‘who owns an apartment and a car’.

Women, meanwhile, are required to be ‘kind, have a stable job and preferably hold a bachelor’s degree’.

The keen parents then scan the dating adverts and chat to other parents in an attempt to match their son or daughter with a potential spouse.

One parent, Ma Jianhua, 55, who was attempting to find his son a wife, told China Daily: ‘I first came here six months ago after reading about the park’s matchmaking activities in the newspaper.

‘Since then I have been coming here almost every weekend. On days that I can’t make it, my wife steps in for me.

‘My son is too busy to date girls, so I am here on his behalf.

‘Although my son and I have different tastes, I can at least narrow down some of the girls who meet his requirements, by speaking to the girl’s parents. After all, a woman’s manner and character are often influenced by their parents.

Ma said his 28-year-old son was looking for a caring girl aged between 24 and 26, with a bachelor’s degree.

He hasn’t had any luck so far, as while he has introduced his son to several girls, none have made the cut.

He said: ‘I will not give up, as a father, I will not feel comfortable if I don’t do something for my son.

‘I know very well that there are all kinds of people here, but it’s a good platform. Nowhere else in the city can you find so many candidates.

‘Besides, I believe matchmaking works. Some of the parents I used to see are no longer here. I think they must have found someone.’

Iran has the highest cost of happiness in the world, with its people needing a salary of nearly £200,000-a-year to be satisfied, a survey has revealed.

Researchers claim to have found the optimum sum of money that citizens in 173 countries need each year to be happy – with any amount above that having ‘no effect on an individual’s happiness’.

The findings, which also compare annual salaries in 29 British cities and towns, paint a stark picture of how the cost of living varies across the globe.

While Iran tops the list, with natives requiring some $239,700 (£191,906) to be happy, at the other end of the scale, those living in Sierra Leone only need an income of $8,658 (£6,931) to stay content.

Yemen is ranked second ($172,140/£137,817), followed by Australia, whose citizens need a princely sum of $121,191 (£97,026) to be happy.

The rest of the top ten country list includes Zimbabwe ($118,342/£94,745); Norway ($117,724/£94,251); Switzerland ($115,745/£92,666); New Zealand ($114,597/£91,747); Israel ($112,506/£90,073); Iceland ($111,908/£89,594) and the United States, with its people needing $105,000 (£84,064) to stay happy.

The study, by foreign exchange provider S Money, found that happiness is most affordable in Sierra Leone where happiness levels off with an income of $8,658 (£6,931). Just behind Sierra Leone is Suriname where a yearly income of $10,255 (£8,210) will keep misery at bay most efficiently followed by Madagascar ($11,355/£9,090).

The rest of the ranking includes Guyana ($11,707/£9,372); Sudan ($11,845/£9,483); Nicaragua ($11,941/£9,560); Colombia ($12,159/£9,734); The Gambia ($12,597/£10,085); Bolivia ($12,795/£10,243) and finally Ghana (10th, $12,949/£10,367).

The UK comes 18th on the overall list, with Britons needing an average of £68,404 ($85,440) per year to be upbeat.

However, for those living in the UK’s capital, London, happiness levels off at a higher salary bracket – $103,083/£79,524. London tops the price-of-contentment table for UK cities and towns, with Cambridge second ($96,971/£74,808) and Guildford in Surrey third ($96,276/£74,273).

Happiness is cheapest in Leicester, according to the study. There, $79,188/£61,117 per year is the saturation point for feelings of bonhomie.

Over in the U.S, Santa Barbara in California is the city with the highest cost of happiness – $162,721/£130,276, followed by Honolulu ($148,943/£119,251) and New York ($145,028/£116,116). Knoxville, Tennessee, is the American city with the lowest cost of happiness – $88,032/£70,482, with Cincinnati in Ohio ($93,398/£74,779) sitting just above it in the list.

How were the amounts calculated? First, researchers consulted a Purdue University study that analysed the relationship between happiness and income to discover the price of happiness in every country and select cities.

This study recorded the satiation point for Life Evaluation (LE) in U.S dollars for each world region.

S Money said: ‘Life Evaluation is a metric from the World Gallup poll that measures how good an individual considers their life to be. The satiation point of LE refers to the income point at which any further increase in income has no effect on an individual’s happiness.’

It continued: ‘The figures in the study grouped countries into world regions and quoted the satiation points relative to an American’s purchasing power. So, to discover the local price of happiness by country, we converted these figures back to local currencies using country-specific Purchasing Power Ratios sourced from the International Monetary Fund. Purchasing power ratios represent the number of units of local currency that are equal to the buying power of one US dollar in the United States.

‘Finally, we converted local currencies back into US dollars using current exchange rates given by Google Finance. This is the price of happiness.

‘In addition, the team calculated the price of happiness for select cities within each country by adjusting the country price of happiness according to the cost of living value for both cities and countries in indexes by Numbeo.’

DOES MONEY MAKE YOU HAPPY?

One Harvard study claimed that it’s not what you earn but how you spend it that leads to happiness.

Researchers said that buying experiences and fewer material goods will make you more content – as will paying close attention to the happiness of others.

HOPE

by Niall Harbison (HarperElement £18.99, 320pp)

Niall Harbison had been smoking, drinking, taking drugs and gambling since he was 13, and he finally hit rock bottom in his early 40s. After a six-day bender on booze and Valium, he ended up in intensive care in a Thai hospital, hooked up to drips and monitors.

Despite his addictions, Harbison had been successful in his career. A trained chef, he had worked in restaurants and then on yachts — rock star Bono was particularly partial to his full Irish breakfast.

The yachts were always fully stocked with expensive drinks, and Harbison often drank so much he’d black out. After a few years he gave up cooking and moved into digital marketing, eventually selling his company for several million euros. On a whim, Harbison moved to the island of Koh Samui in Thailand in 2018, taking his beloved rescue dog Snoop with him.

His recovery, which took a year, mostly involved long walks in the jungle with Snoop. On his walks he became aware of how many stray dogs were on the island: tens of thousands, he estimates. Pictured with Beagle McMuffin

When his girlfriend left him because of his drinking, he went into a downward spiral. After his stint in hospital, he realised that something had to change. ‘I knew that whatever I did next, I had to do with all my heart and soul,’ he said.

His recovery, which took a year, mostly involved long walks in the jungle with Snoop. On his walks he became aware of how many stray dogs were on the island: tens of thousands, he estimates. Many of them were ridden with fleas and worms, infected with ticks, and hobbling from injuries, yet he observed that ‘their spirits were amazingly unbroken, despite their tough lives’.

Harbison started buying dried food for the dogs and, within a week, he was fully committed to feeding them every day. At least half the dogs, he realised, wanted affection as well as food, and ‘after years of feeling I was a waste of space, I guess it was pathetically gratifying’.

While he longed to scoop them up and take them all home, Harbison accepted that the island dogs were content to live on the streets or in the jungle. ‘They’re often happiest in their natural environment,’ he says.

Every day he would find new packs of dogs or litters of puppies, and he had visions of his moped toppling under the weight of gigantic sacks of kibble. On a day when he found 50 puppies, he felt like crying with frustration. Simply feeding the dogs was hopeless, he concluded: his strategy had to include neutering and other health treatments.

Pleasingly, he has been able to call on the skills from his old life. Kibble is expensive and, he thinks, probably tastes like cardboard. He decided to cook the dogs fresh food: a mixture of rice, vegetables and meat. Adding chicken blood, he says with relish, makes it particularly tasty for them and it’s dirt cheap.

‘I had a hunch the ‘customers’ would be a damn sight more appreciative than some of the rich and famous I’d served before.’

He has also put his expertise in social media to good use, raising money from all over the world. Harbison keeps his followers updated on the ‘doggie nirvana’ compound he’s creating, and on dogs such as King Whacker, whose head was split open by an attacker but who made a miraculous recovery, or Britney, used in dog fights and then dumped in the jungle.

Every day he would find new packs of dogs or litters of puppies, and he had visions of his moped toppling under the weight of gigantic sacks of kibble

He claims to have only been badly bitten once, and he marvels at how sweet and trusting even the most scared, flea-bitten dog is.

Although he still suffers from depression, he has no fear of slipping back into addiction, because he’s simply too busy helping the dogs. There is no time for a girlfriend and besides, he sighs, who would want a bald Irishman who smells permanently of dog food?

Harbison’s aim is to help 10,000 dogs each month, and you wouldn’t bet against him achieving it.

Hope is a lovely book about someone who has been lucky enough to find his true purpose in life. People think he has saved these dogs, he says, but ‘really they saved me’.

Have the clocks been turned back to 1980?

The time when woke meant getting up in the morning. Before safe spaces were invented. Before words like consent and respect became part of everyday language between the sexes.

Before #MeToo.

The world of professional sport seems reluctant to move into the 21st century, with some stars (male) unaware the days of shagging in the shower and boasting about your weekly scores off the pitch is no longer acceptable. For them, sex is just another sport, and the women involved utterly disposable commodities.

These cavemen are finally getting called out.

When Spain‘s women won the World Cup, how did Spanish football President Luis Rubiales react? Standing next to the Queen of Spain, he grabbed his crotch and jiggled his bits up and down like a randy dachshund for millions of viewers to enjoy. Rubiales remains utterly unrepentant and says he was simply congratulating his pal Jorge Vilda, the team coach.

Danny Cipriani claims that her and Kelly Brook split up and she dated his team-mate Thom, she became pregnant, but suffered a miscarriage. Unsportingly, Cipriani reveals that Kelly and he enjoyed a secret romantic break during this time, behind Thom's back. He is pictured with Kelly in November 2009

It’s like listening to Fred Flintstone talking. Where has he been the last 50 years?

If women do well at something, we don’t feel the need to celebrate by heaving up our skirts and poking around in our pants in public. Funny that.

Rubiales then went on to plant a slobbering congratulatory kiss on star player Jenni Hermoso – without her consent. Following national outrage, he has been suspended by FIFA for three months while the Spanish Football Federation try to get rid of him. The winning team’s coach – Jorge Vila – was sacked on Tuesday after he refused to condemn Rubiales’ behaviour. Vila’s coaching style had already upset 15 members of his team, who had walked out – just three returned to play in the tournament’s final.

Janet Street-Porter (pictured) says: 'The resulting shagfest tells us a lot about Danny. By naming women he might have only had sex with once he pushes them into the spotlight again without their consent. They may have been named at the time, if a photographer managed to capture the liaison, but dragging it up decades later is unnecessary'

Janet Street-Porter (pictured) says: ‘The resulting shagfest tells us a lot about Danny. By naming women he might have only had sex with once he pushes them into the spotlight again without their consent. They may have been named at the time, if a photographer managed to capture the liaison, but dragging it up decades later is unnecessary’

But unsporting and sexist behaviour isn’t just rampant in football.

Closer to home we have some local cavemen who see nothing wrong in their attitudes either.

Read this quote – ‘I was very specific how I did it, so it was three on my off days, one when I was training, and the night before a game would be a night off. Sometimes.’

That’s not about cocktails, or drugs. It’s about sex. Not about quality. Just quantity. Emotionally bankrupt, this crass confession suggests the writer lacked any empathy for the partners involved.

It was written by rugby star Danny Cipriani who reveals himself as a serial shagger – and he blames it all on the fact his dad left when he was 10. According to Danny, it might have looked like he was living every macho man’s dream, but he was ‘acting from a place of pain’ and suffering in silence.

At 35, rugby star Cipriani is no longer signed to a club and contemplating retirement. He’s busy flogging his autobiography. How best to ensure massive sales and loads of publicity? He’s chosen to describe his busy sex life in great detail, naming names and spelling out where, when, and all the unpleasant drunken rows along the way.

The resulting shagfest tells us a lot about Danny. By naming women he might have only had sex with once he pushes them into the spotlight again without their consent. They may have been named at the time, if a photographer managed to capture the liaison, but dragging it up decades later is unnecessary.

'Danny Cipriani (pictured last year) reveals himself as a serial shagger and he blames it all on the fact his dad left when he was 10,' writes Janet Street-Porter. To make matters worse, Danny’s wife Victoria justifies his revelations by claiming he has not said anything that we didn’t know already. As a mental health campaigner, she must realise that being named in this context without being pre-warned or asked for consent, is thoroughly upsetting.

Victoria has tweeted ‘I sincerely hope that this spotlight doesn’t cause any discomfort or negative emotions for the women involved’.

Caroline Flack is dead. Kelly Brook is married and has a successful career on radio and television. Lindsay Lohan has moved on. Kirsty Gallacher has appeared on Strictly and currently has a show on Smooth radio. Katie Price has other issues and a very challenging son who requires a huge amount of love and attention. I’m sure they are all thrilled to be ticked off on Danny Cipriani’s bucket list along with every willing female he met on the way to the bus stop or dry cleaners.

As for Kelly Brook, Danny claims that after they split up and she dated his team-mate Thom, she became pregnant, but suffered a miscarriage. Unsportingly, Cipriani reveals that Kelly and he enjoyed a secret romantic break during this time, behind Thom’s back.

It’s as if the publishers said to Danny that a book about rugby won’t sell enough. Who cares about that kind of ball control? A book about your struggles with alcohol and magic mushrooms – well, there are plenty of famous people who’ve told that story. But if you can name as many celebrity bonks as possible we could be onto a best seller.

Danny Cipriani was a gifted player, who played for England 16 times, was voted Player of the Season and the Premiership Players’ Player of the Year in 2019. In the book, he’s frank about his struggles with depression and loneliness, admitting he drank to try and ‘fit in’. On one team outing in 2013 he dressed up as a WWE wrestler, visited 15 pubs in Leeds, and ended up getting hit by a bus and tearing a ligament in his knee. He was convicted of drink driving in 2016 and arrested for being drunk in Jersey in 2018. He admits he dabbled with cocaine and Tramadol, and took so many mushrooms in 2020 he thought his wife was trying to kill him, fell into some stone garden steps and ended up in hospital again.

This time, he went to rehab – for a week.

Now, Danny seeks to make amends, in his own way, admitting that the days of treating women like disposable coffee cups are long gone.

He must have been so busy – finding the raw material to feed his score card – searching for potential partners everywhere he went. From a Cheeky girl, to a coffee shop worker, to models and actresses, he certainly cast his net wide, targeting married women because they wouldn’t blab.

Now, he says the women were just ‘counters in a game’.

But it’s a game that didn’t need to be told, Danny. In the telling, you have not only caused hurt to the people involved, but you’ve failed to justify your actions by citing ‘hurt’ and personal trauma.

The book is called Who Am I?

Here’s the answer – a caveman.

Rachel Stevens detailed the emotional tribute to bandmate Paul Cattermole on Sunday as S Club 7 prepare to reunite.

The singer was found dead on April 6 – just two months after he and the band announced they were due to go on a reunion tour this autumn.

The band’s 25th anniversary reunion tour – which kicks off in October – has been renamed The Good Times Tour, after one of the tracks on which Paul had lead vocals.

She told The Mirror: ‘We have renamed the tour. It’s called the Good Times tour, that was Paul’s solo song that he was going to do an acoustic version of, so we just felt like that was so fitting.

‘Paul is with us on so many decisions that we make, we think of Paul and there’s so many sort of elements that are there with him in mind. It’s definitely gonna be a huge celebration. It is so much fun, so much joy, lots of memories, and it’s a tribute to him.’

S Club has released new single These Are The Days in Paul’s honour, with the accompanying music video showing a montage of Paul over the years.

As the five remaining members of the band flip through a photo album of memories, each shot turns into a video clip of the band as they rose to fame and achieved chart topping pop success.

Paul died at the age of 46 from natural causes at his home in Dorset on April 6, it was announced in a statement released by his family.

His body was discovered in his ground floor flat, devastating his bandmates and fans.

Paul left the group in 2002, citing ‘creative differences’, and the group changed their name from S Club 7 to simply S Club before splitting for good a year later.

Hannah Spearritt, 42, will also be missing from the tour, but Rachel insisted that the ‘door is always open’ for her to return to the band.

She was there in February when the tour was announced, but later learned in July that she was not in the line-up.

The singer, 42, left the band unexpectedly in May, after the shocking death of her former boyfriend and bandmate Paul.

The remaining members of the group – Rachel, Jo, Jon, Bradleyand Tina Barrett – decided to rename S Club 7 as merely S Club and continue as a five-piece.

On the outs: S Club and Hannah are said to be no longer on speaking terms amid insider claims that she was left feeling 'betrayed' by a row over contracts for the band's tour

Rachel went on to say: ‘Nostalgia is such an incredible, powerful thing and there’s so much love for S Club, and there’s been so much support since our new single.

‘So to get back out there and perform music we love and that the fans are going to love is really exciting. Some of our fans might have kids now, so that’ll be lovely to bring their kids along, and I can’t wait for all of our kids to be a part of this too.’#

Hannah and Paul dated from 2001 before splitting in 2006, with the pair rekindling their romance in 2015 before finally going their separate ways just months later.

After his sudden death from heart issues in April at 46 , Hannah told The Sun: ‘I can’t stop crying. I still can’t believe I will never see him again.

‘I’m trying my best to hold it together but once I start, I can’t stop crying. And then I have to keep myself together for our two kids [with boyfriend Adam Thomas]. I can’t even imagine any mother losing her child.’

Speaking to The Sun, Rachel said the band are now closer than ever and have bonded over their shared grief.

Jo added the band feel it is important to remember Paul for the ‘goofy’ bandmate he was and will pay tribute to him in their tour.

‘The smiles have replaced the tears, in a really positive way,’ she said

While filming the accompanying music video, they explained they saw a butterfly that they believed was their late bandmate.

Tina told the publication: ‘There was a butterfly. We were all sat down and a butterfly came from nowhere. It was a really bright, beautiful butterfly which flew down and went off. I don’t know why, but I just thought, “That’s Paul”. It came from nowhere.’

Urgent warning for Android users over apps that steal your bank details

  • Android users are urged to delete apps as existing Anatsa bug can steal details
  • The malware can access credentials, mobile banking and view your balance

Android users across the UK have been issued with an urgent warning over a security threat that could end up stealing their bank details.

The latest threat was discovered by the security team at ThreatFabric and is using apps uploaded to the Google Play Store to infect phones with fraudulent Anatsa banking trojan.

Once installed on a device, the money-stealing bug can steal credentials which can be used to authorise users whey log into mobile banking.

Hackers can then gain control of someone’s account and access credentials, credit card details, bank balance and payment information as well as transfer funds with less likelihood of the card holder noticing.

An existing bug is wreaking havoc for Android users, the dreaded Anatsa posing as Google Play apps can wind up stealing your bank details

ThreatFabric explains: ‘Since transactions are initiated from the same device that targeted bank customers regularly use, it has been reported that it is very challenging for banking anti-fraud systems to detect it.’

Anatsa isn’t a new issue, the bug has been causing damage since 2020, but this new malware is now targeting Android users in the UK and USA as well as phone owners in Italy, Germany and France.

According to security researchers at the tech company who have been tracking the activity, the bug has over 30,000 installations via this method alone.

In March 2023, the threat actors launched a new campaign that led unaware victims to download Anatsa dropper apps from Google Play.

Threat Fabric says that it saw a total of five new dropper apps crop up on the Play Store in just four months all posing as PDF reader software, according to the Mirror.

Whenever ThreatFabric reported the bug to Google it was removed from the sore, but the malware quickly returned under a new dropper and guise.

One software named PDF Viewer was downloaded over 10,000 times before Android caught on.

All the infected apps have now been removed from the Play Store. However, if you have downloaded any PDF software this year, it may be a good idea to double check if it is from an official source.

A Google spokesperson told BleepingComputer: ‘All of these identified malicious apps have been removed from Google Play and the developers have been banned.

‘Google Play Protect also protects users by automatically removing apps known to contain this malware on Android devices with Google Play Services.’

An adult film star who ‘won’ the European Sex Championships has revealed images from inside the venue before her fellow competitors walked out of the ‘chaotic’ event last week, sparking a war of words between those involved.

The inaugural tournament was set to begin on June 8, with a reported 20 representatives from a dozen or so nations descending on an undisclosed location in Gothenburg, Sweden to take part in the seedy competition.

However, the six-week event to determine the continent’s most elite sex performers was plagued with issues, and it was closed down within a matter of days – sparking a battle of words between the organiser and competitors.

While the organisation behind the tournament – the Swedish Sex Federation – accused some of the participants of ‘disobeying the rules of the competition’ by drinking alcohol and ‘consuming illegal psychoactive substances’, some porn star competitors slammed it for a lack of hygiene and for not carrying out HIV checks.

Now, Croatian adult film star Marija Zadravec, aka Sweet Mery, has defended the organisers, and claimed she was declared the winner of the tournament.

In a post on Twitter, Zadravec announced she was leaving the competition, while also posting pictures from inside the house hosting the event – which has the appearance of a low-budget ‘Big Brother’ house.

A third photo shows more of the competitors sitting around a breakfast bar.

It is understood that the competition was pioneered by Dragan Bratic, who owns a number of strip clubs in the Jönköping area of Sweden, and who is understood to have set up the event to be live streamed over the internet to paying viewers.

Participants in the championship were going to be assessed across 16 categories in ’bouts’ to be held over six weeks.

These included their skills in seduction and massage, their proficiency in sex acts, the appearance of their sexual organs, how many times they can orgasm, and their ‘artistry’ and ‘creativity’ in creating a seductive pose.

Bouts were reportedly set to last between 45 minutes to an hour for each category.

According to The Daily Star, female entrants were set to earn themselves £690 for each day they stayed in the venue, while men would earn £345-a-day.

The publication say the winner was promised £860,000.

However, some of the participants say there were issues from the start.

They said there was no hot water, no adequate sleeping arrangements, and that the hygiene was poor. They accused the organisers of not carrying out checks for sexually transmitted diseases, and one video appeared to show Bratic lashing out at the Ukrainian competitor when she tried to live stream their conversation.

Selva Lapiedra, Spain’s representative, described the organisation of the event as ‘chaos,’ telling Spanish publication El Plural that it descended into a ‘horror film.’

She also said that the website hosting the live streams was attacked by hackers.

‘Every day they attacked the website a lot , the cameras were caught , the page was not working,’ she said, adding: ‘The activities were not organised, the judges who should have been there were not … In short, there was zero organisation.’

However, speaking to Croatian daily newspaper Jutarnji list, Zadravec defended Bratic and the Swedish Sex Federation over the event.

She said that Bratic told her that based on the number of points she had accumulated during the tournament, she was the winner of the competition, and that this would soon be declared on the organisation’s website. She also said her fee was paid every day she ‘spent in the house,’ and that her travel was also paid for.

Zadravec hit out at claims by other competitors that hot water was not available in the venue, saying that while the water heater broke down in one room, it was fixed the following day, and that hot water was available in other rooms.

The adult film star, who has more than 60,000 followers on Twitter and almost 35,000 on Instagram – and makes much of her living though OnlyFans – said the ‘project’ was a big opportunity for her and her fellow competitors.

‘This is a very big project and the organiser wanted to make all of us big, famous, world names and give us the opportunity to make a very good profit, so everyone should be grateful for that because the whole world wrote about it and everyone benefited from the advertisement from that project,’ she said.

Zadravec distanced herself from the criticism being made by other participants, and accusing them of not telling the truth about what unfolded. ‘People from the porn industry are all connected, so it is very important to tell the truth,’ she said.

‘I am not a person who wants problems from this because we all had the opportunity to choose ourselves, so there is no need to put pressure on the organiser after everything. As for my experience, it was great and I would like it to happen again one day because something like this is not little thing,’ she told Jutarnji.

She accused the other competitors that walked out of ‘taking revenge’ on the organisers and contradicted their claims that they were not paid.

‘We agreed on everything; what the fee would be, the method of payment and other details, I received a detailed contract which I signed,’ she said.

‘Dragan asked all the competitors to take with them some prop that represents the country we are fighting for, to be at the airport already record an advertising video for each individual,’ Zadravec added.

She said she got off the plane wearing a ‘Croatian T-shirt’.

It was reported earlier this month that a British representative — OnlyFans model Barbie Sins — had pulled out of the event citing ‘health complications’.

The remaining 19 competitors hail from across the continent, including Spain, Italy, France, Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Croatia.

Lara Lee was another Brit who the Star said was set to fly out to Sweden on Monday, possibly as a replacement for Barbie Sins – but she pulled out at the last minute.

‘I learnt that people had been leaving over claims they weren’t getting paid so I decided to swerve it,’ she told the Daily Star.

‘It’s sad because it was a great idea but it sounds like it’s been so badly organised and has ended up a bit of a shambles.’

Ukraine’s entrant Talia Mint posted a video from the house before she left, saying that she and the other performers had been excited to be part of the ‘project’.

However, the 24-year-old uploaded a video to her social media which appeared to show Bratic trying to grab her phone as she left the house.

She claimed in the clip that one competitor had been allowed to enter the competition without being tested for HIV.

‘He refuses to pay me for my time and my work and now you have all the information about this project, I want to get compensation,’ she said.

She later said in a video that the police were called, but could not enter the property as they did not have a warrant. Now, Mint claims she is taking legal action against Bratic and the The Swedish Sex Federation.

It is believed that the organiser’s financial issues came about because not enough people were paying to watch the live-streams of the event.

Other performers have also confirmed they have left the event, with the official representative group for sex workers from the Balkan region announcing the decision on Twitter on Friday, citing ‘insurmountable issues’.

‘The cameras were non-operational during the first two days of the competition, which hindered the proper execution and documentation of the event,’ Dobra Druzba (Good Friendship) said in a thread on Twitter.

‘We were constantly faced with overloading issues, making it challenging for us to perform effectively. The absence of representatives from the Swedish Sex Federation at the event greatly disappointed us. Also, there was no security personnel present, responsible for ensuring our safety and health.’

According to a post on Twitter from the Swedish Sex Federation, contestants were disqualified for a number of reasons.

It listed these as: ‘Disobeying the rules of the competition and Swedish Sex Federation, Damaging reputation of the Swedish Sex Federation, disrespecting organisation and representatives of the organisation, bringing and consuming illegal psychoactive substances, bringing and consuming alcohol, request for payments without invoices witch is against the Swedish law, and talking about fees during live stream broadcast.’

Dobra Druzba hit back at claims from the organisers that the contestants acted unprofessionally. It released a video recorded by a number of the competitors airing their grievances over the event.

‘Alcohol was provided by the Swedish Sex Federation and we have written correspondence confirming that there was a so-called ‘party night’ included in the competition program,’ the competitors said.

In a statement published by The Daily Star, the Swedish Sex Federation admitted that the situation was ‘not good’ and hit out at the contestants.

‘They all enjoyed all those popularity and took advantage of our organisation to promote themselves and now they ask for something that is not possible to fulfil.

‘We are really devastated with the current situation and we do not have any idea how this will end,’ the statement sad.

Organiser Bratic told the publication that the performers were not invited as porn actors, but as ‘contestants in the First European Sex Championship’ and accused them of not acting like professional athletes.

The competition is being held at an undisclosed location (pictured) in Gothenburg in south western Sweden. A group representing some of the performers said there was no running hot water which 'impeded basic hygiene,' and that the sleeping quarters were 'unsuitable as they did not allow for rest due to the early dawn in Sweden and the lack of blinds or roller shutters'

‘They ignored the rules of the competition and the Swedish Sex Federation and behaved unprofessionally and to the detriment of the federation,’ he said.

‘They even brought alcohol to the house and they did not act like sportsmen at all. All contestants are therefore disqualified from the competition.’

He bemoaned to The Star that none brought flags of their countries (except for Croatia), and that his organisation had to purchase them.

MailOnline has reached out to the Swedish Sex Federation for comment, but is yet to receive a response as of 10am GMT, June 19.
